Montgomery was a close friend of
Cole Porter. After the composer's
death, Montgomery was named trustee of the Cole Porter Musical and
Literary Property Trusts. He once mistakenly allowed the maker of a
bathroom cleanser to use the Porter song "I've Got You Under My Skin"
in a television advertisement as "I've Got You Under My Rim".
