The royal family has long frowned upon the idea of showing too much affection in public. There are a number of etiquette rules that royals must follow, and refraining from showing too much emotion in any capacity is one of them. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle slightly broke that cycle, making sure to always touch each other comfortingly, whether with a hand hold or a gentle hand on the back.
King Charles III, on the other hand, has generally stuck by this rule, though there is one royal woman he always embraces a bit of affection from — and it’s not his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.

Camilla Parker Bowles and Princess Anne reportedly butted heads at the coronation dinner. Following the highly anticipated ceremonial crowning, Anne allegedly confronted Camilla about her recent change in title.
Leading up to the coronation, Buckingham Palace announced that the royal family was changing her title from queen consort to queen. Royal watchers had mixed reactions to the move, and it sounds like Anne voiced her own disagreement with the changes at the coronation dinner.

Instead of the dazzling, gem-encrusted rings commonly seen among the royal family, Princess Anne and her daughter, Zara Tindall, both opted for more modest engagement rings that exude their own individual brilliance.
Lavish engagement rings, like the one worn by Kate Middleton, are not unusual in the ranks of the royal family. While the royals certainly have the means to justify expensive jewelry, Anne and Zara ultimately picked style over luxury. Here’s a closer look at Anne and Zara’s low-key engagement rings.

Princess Anne crossed paths with Timothy Laurence, a Royal Navy commander, during his time on the Royal Yacht Britannia. Although the couple tied the knot in late 1992, they were forced to hold a low-key wedding ceremony in Scotland due to the Church of England’s prohibition on remarriage following divorce.

On March 20, 1974, Princess Anne was almost kidnapped. The only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and late Prince Philip was on her way to Buckingham Palace with her then-husband Mark Phillips after a film screening when their maroon Rolls Royce was waylaid on the Mall by a white Ford Escort. Anne's Scotland Yard-issued bodyguard, Inspector James Beaton, got out of the car and was shot in the shoulder by Ian Ball, a 26-year-old unemployed laborer from north London. Beaton fired back once but then his gun jammed. Ball approached the Rolls and ordered Anne to get out—or he'd shoot. "Bloody likely," the 23-year-old princess...

It's common knowledge by now that 1992 wasn't a banner year for Britain's royal family. Dubbed an annus horribilis by Queen Elizabeth II herself, those scandal-plagued 12 months bore witness to, not only a fire at Windsor Castle, but also the end of all three of her married children's marriages. Those unions had imploded long before, but it was in 1992 that Princess Anne finalized her divorce from Mark Phillips (and remarried that same year), while Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York and now-King Charles III and Princess Diana announced their separations (and both couples eventually divorced). That would be a lot for any family, let alone one of the most visible...

Princess Charlotte’s future children are unlikely to have titles of their own, but her brother Prince George’s will.
“Her children will not have titles because the royal titles go down the male line,” Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty, tells People. Charlotte inherited her title because she was born as Prince William‘s daughter.
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t exceptions to the rule. Queen Elizabeth has offered new titles other royal offspring in the past, including the children of her daughter, Princess Anne.
“The same applied to Princess Anne when she had her children,” Little continues.

E!’s first-ever scripted series, The Royals, premieres this Sunday at 10 Pm. It follows a fictional British royal family, led by Queen Helena (Elizabeth Hurley), as they navigate scandals in the public eye. The show is undoubtedly influenced by the real-life shenanigans of several royal family members (*cough, Prince Harry, cough*). However, will fantasy be more salacious than fact? The show certainly has some big (read: crazy) shoes to fill.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a scandal the royal family hasn’t experienced. Affairs! Nude photos! Foot fetishes (more on that later)! For families perceived as the picture of sophistication, the Irl royals certainly know how to shake things up. Relive these moments with us to feel better about your own questionable life choices.

Little Prince George has a new cousin and future playmate, as his godmother Zara Tindall - Prince William's cousin - has given birth. Zara, 32, welcomed a daughter Friday, Buckingham Palace announced. The Olympic equestrian and her husband, rugby player Mike Tindall, have not confirmed a name for their child yet. The baby girl, who weighed 7 lbs., 12oz., becomes 16th in line to the throne, after her mother, who is 15th. Mike Tindall was at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for the birth, the palace said. He tweeted his thanks to the hospital staff. "Thanks so much for all your kind messages.

It's baby fever in the U.K., as photographers are camped outside St. Mary's Hospital in London in anticipation of Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge arriving any day now for the birth of their child.
But that bundle of joy is not the only good news out of Buckingham Palace. Zara Phillips, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth by her daughter, Princess Anne and Anne's ex-husband Mark Phillips, and her husband, rugby player Mike Tindall, have announced they are expecting a baby in early 2014. They are pictured above enjoying the 2013 Wimbledon finals.
But Prince William's and Zara's children are actually not the first and second great-grandchildren for Queen Elizabeth. Her grandson Peter, Princess Anne's eldest child and Zara's brother, has two daughters, Savannah and Isla, with his wife Autumn. None of Princess Anne's children or grandchildren have titles, however, because Mark Phillips turned down his earldom when he married Anne.

“At the end of the day I probably let myself down, I let my family down, I let other people down,” Prince Harry sighed during a recent interview about his nude Las Vegas photos taken last August. To which we say…do you even know your family, Harry? So don’t worry, Harry! You’re just joining other infamous royal scandals such as…

Britain's Zara Phillips joked it was 'very important' to beat her father at the London Olympics. The 31-year-old royal - Queen Elizabeth's eldest granddaughter - helped Team Gb finish second to Germany in the three-day eventing competition, and she was thrilled with the result, particularly as the Us team, which is coached by her dad Captain Mark Phillips, could only make seventh place. Asked whether it was important to beat her mother Princess Anne - who came 24th in the individual eventing and the team came ninth in 1976 - Zara quipped: 'It was very important to beat my father.' Zara was competing in the Olympics for the first time and was thrilled to take home a silver medal. She...

Zara Phillips is not only Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter and cousin to heir to the throne Prince William, but now she's an Olympic medal winner. The 31-year-old competes in the equestrian events at the Summer Olympics and Tuesday (July 31), she won a silver medal in the Team Eventing Jumping, as one of five riders for Great Britain.
Unfortunately, when it came time for the Individual Eventing Jumping, Phillips and her horse, High Kingdom, finished in 8th, so no individual medal just yet. But Phillips still has several more equestrian events to compete in.
Phillips has quite the Olympic pedigree. Her mother, Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth's second child and only daughter, competed on the Great Britain equestrian team in the 1976 Montreal Games, and her father, Captain Mark Phillips, competed for the Great Britain equestrian team in the 1972 and 1988 Olympics, earning a gold and a silver, respectively.

Britain's Zara Phillips made her debut at the London Olympic Games yesterday (29.07.12). The daughter of Princess Anne and her ex-husband Captain Mark Phillips took part in the dressage event at Greenwich Park - watched on by her mother and grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh - and scored 46.10 points on her horse High Kingdom. The equine was doing well at the beginning of the event as she began the 23 movements that make up the dressage, but became over-excited at one point and anticipated a move before it was due. However, overall Zara was considered to have done well, and helped put Great Britain in third position behind Germany and Australia. Speaking afterwards, the blonde...

Britain's Zara Phillips is hoping to be 'luckier' than Princess Anne in the London Olympics. The 31-year-old royal is set to follow in the footsteps of her mother and father, Mark Phillips, by competing in the Olympics later this month - and she is hoping not to fall off her horse, High Kingdom, as Anne famously did in the 1976 Games in Montreal. She said: 'I just hope I'll be a bit luckier and not fall.' Zara makes up one-fifth of the British eventing team at the Olympics and she is just pleased to be part of Team Gb for the prestigious event after she was cruelly denied the opportunity to compete in the 2004 Athens Olympics and...

Peter has also signed up his father Captain Mark Phillips, cricketer Shane Warne and is keen to work with Zara's rugby playing husband Mike Tindall. A friend told the Mail On Sunday newspaper: 'Peter has signed his father Captain Mark Phillips, cricketer Shane Warne and he's in negotiations with Zara's husband Mike Tindall.' Zara Phillips is 'excited and nervous' about the London Olympic Games. The 31-year-old sportswoman follows her mother Princess Anne and father Captain Mark Phillips in competing for Britain in eventing and although she can't wait to take part, Zara admitted the nerves are kicking in. She told the Daily Express newspaper: 'I'm very excited, honoured, but also nervous. 'A horse is a pretty unpredictable animal and it is difficult when you are trying to get it and yourself into prime fitness. You are going that extra mile; you do the extra training and, unfortunately, things can happen.' Britain's Zara Phillips was a 'brat' as a child, her father has claimed. Captain Mark Phillips - who was married to Princess Anne from 1973 to 1992 - claims his son Peter was 'very well-behaved' compared to his daughter, who he described as a 'difficult' child. He said: '[Peter] was a very well-behaved little boy, he wasn't much trouble at all. He knew where the line was and he didn't cross it. 'Zara on the other hand, who came along four years later, was much more difficult, much more of a brat. I don't think she accepted that line at all.' Mark admits he was not a particularly great father when his children were younger and only really enjoyed...

Zara Phillips hopes she is 'luckier' than her mother at the Olympics. The royal is following in the footsteps of her mother Princess Anne and father Mark Phillips in competing in the Olympics equestrian team, but hopes she can go further than the princess, who competed in the 1976 games. Mark won two medals, gold in Munich in 1972 and silver in Seoul in 1988, but Zara said he hadn't offered her much advice ahead of her stint in the London games this summer. Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter Zara Phillips has been nominated for the equestrian team for the U.K.'s bid at the 2012 Summer Olympic games, held right in her own backyard of London.
"It's awesome to be given this opportunity. I am really excited and can't wait to kick on and get him there," says Phillips in a statement.
Phillips is the daughter of Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth's second child and only daughter. Both Princess Anne and Zara's father, Captain Mark Phillips, competed for the U.K. equestrian team in the Olympics - Anne competed at the 1976 Montreal Games and Mark won a gold in Munich in 1972 and a silver in Seoul in 1988 in the equestrian three-day team event, which is what Zara will compete in as well.
Zara was supposed to compete in Beijing in 2008 but her horse Toytown became injured just before the event. This time around, she hopes to have better luck.
