Acquired by the Mets from Kansas City on May 10, 1967 in exchange for outfielder Larry Elliot and cash. Led the Mets in home runs in 1968 with 15.
Member of the 1969 World Series Champion Mets.
Played for the Kansas City Athletics (1962-1967) and New York Mets (1967-1969).
He wrote several poems, earning him the title of "the Mets' poet laureate".
