Rock stars are often just as famous for their wild antics and behavior as they are for their music. With huge amounts of money, alcohol, drugs, and screaming fans, it is easy to understand why this can happen. However, there is a line that must be drawn, and inflicting physical injury on people is definitely over the line. Such was the case when Josh Homme kicked a photographer’s camera at a recent Queens of the Stone Age concert. Homme, the founder of the iconic band, appeared to get caught up in his performance when he decided to kick the camera

After kicking photographer Chelsea Lauren in the face during a concert in Los Angeles on Saturday, Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has issued an apology.
The incident occurred during the band's set at the Kroq Almost Acoustic Christmas in Los Angeles on Saturday, where the band was performing on day one of the event. Lauren was on the side of a walkway that came out from the stage, where Homme made the seemingly unprovoked move.
The photographer posted video of the moment on Instagram, which shows Homme walking forward on stage, playing his guitar during one of the band's songs. When he walk back, Homme kicks his leg out, hitting Lauren's camera and knocking her over.
"Thanks to @joshhomme @queensofthestoneage I now get to spend my night in the ER. Seriously, Who Does That?!?" Lauren wrote on Instagram.

Legendary glam/punk photographer Mick Rock is a primary player in music/ rock history, having provided some of the most iconic rock imagery to grace the careers and album covers of artists like Bowie, Blondie, Lou Reed, Queen and Iggy Pop.
Rock captured key moments from classic concerts including that iconic shot of Bowie performing fellatio on Mick Ronson’s guitar during the Ziggy Stardust era. He also designed the album covers of Bowie’s Space Oddity, Lou Reed’s Transformer, Iggy and The Stooges’ Raw Power and directed many of Bowie’s music videos.
Rock’s unruly work Mo was also a lifestyle choice. Integrating hard partying and meditation into his photography/practice by saturating himself in the event he was covering instead of adopting the role of a passive observer, yet Rock provided some outstanding imagery as a result.

Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme co-wrote the theme for Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown, and now he’s a now a movie composer as well. Homme recently scored In The Fade, a German film directed by The Edge Of Heaven’s Fatih Akin, which stars Diane Kruger as a woman whose husband and son are killed by neo-Nazis. It premiered in competition at Cannes—though, for what it’s worth, our critic A.A. Dowd was not particularly impressed who called it “familiar and unchallenging.”
According to an interview with Variety, Akin was listening to Queens Of The Stone Age while writing. “I had the feeling that this could be the music that the character was listening to, It has a self-destructive attitude and somehow the film is about self-destruction,” Akin explained. ”I sent [Homme] a very early version of the film. Mastodon gave a devastating performance of "Show Yourself" on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday. Drummer Brann Dailor and bassist Troy Sanders delivered a thunderous dual vocal performance over Brent Hinds' searing guitar solo.
"Show Yourself" appears on Mastodon's new LP, Emperor of Sand, a concept record that explores life, death, time, illness and doom through the story of a man who is handed a death sentence from a desert ruler and then wanders an arid wasteland.
However, "Show Yourself" has served as a respite of sorts from the album's heavy and personal subject matter.

The celebrity news outlet is being sued for defamation by a man who says he was roughed up after seeking an autograph from Iggy Pop. In the suit, filed in circuit court in Michigan, Jason Leckrone claims that he attempted to get an autograph from Pop after an August 2016 concert that the “Lust for Life” singer was performing with Queens of the Stone Age frontman, Josh Homme. Stoner rock (or desert rock) originates from the early heavy metal scene with bands like Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult playing a pivotal role in its transformation. It was artists such as Kyuss, Sleep and Monster Magnet that officially brought the genre term to prominence in the 90’s, paving the way for the genre’s most successful export Queens Of The Stone Age in the 2000’s.
As good as the noughties were for stoner rock, this current decade has really witnessed the genre flourish into ever increasing heights of artistic merit. The retro sound that exemplifies much of the genre is still present along with some sonic experimentation, making the past five years a period of great growth for the scene.

Sixty-eight-year-old Iggy Pop, godfather of punk and a pioneer of art rock, recently revealed that he collaborated on an album with Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and Dean Fertita and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders. The record, called Post Pop Depression, could be his last, the often-shirtless icon says in a new interview for Apple Music. "I feel like I’m closing up after this," he said. "That’s what I feel. It’s my gut instinct."He'll still sing "Happy Birthday," though ... maybe. "If you call me and you want to work out a deal to come and sing 'Happy Birthday' at your mother’s, something like that I’ll refer you to someone. But to really make a real album you really have to put everything into it and the energy’s more limited now." He went on, "The kind of artist I am, I...

The New York Times reports that Iggy Pop and Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme made a now-not-so-secret album, slated to drop March 18, and are prepping their first round of promotional shows. Titled Post Pop Depression, the nine-track project was put together independently in a total of three weeks, with the help of Dean Fertita, from Qotsa; Matt Helders, from Arctic Monkeys; and other still-unnamed musicians. Judging by the tone of the Times story, Ppd might serve as a kind of coda (or beginning of a coda) to Iggy's already-lengthy career. "What happens after your years of service?" Iggy told the Times, when asked about the record's theme. "And where is the honor?" A brief tour with the new material and band (which will add the likes of Troy Van Leeuwen, from Qotsa, and Matt Sweeney, from Chavez) will take place in March as well, at a set...

Rye Coalition might be the hardest working band you've never heard of. Sensations of the punk/hardcore scene of the '90s, the early aughts saw them reaching for bigger heights, recording albums with Steve Albini and Dave Grohl, and touring with bands like Foo Fighters, Queens Of The Stone Age, and The Mars Volta. But there's a reason they're dubbed "the hard luck five." The boys from Jersey City, New Jersey could never seem to get a break to go their way, and never quite received the recognition their miles on the road, and blood, sweat, and tears deserved. However, they do have a documentary to tell their tale in "Rye Coalition: The Story Of The Hard Luck 5," and today we have an exclusive clip. For '90s hardcore kids of a certain age, the Rye Coalition/Karp split 12" record, released on Troubleman Unlimited, is a defining release,...

The 2015 Grammy nominations are in, and there are plenty of familiar faces in the various Rock categories, where even some of the new faces are getting to be too familiar. It's well known, that despite all the mountains of music released each year, the Grammy Awards tend to nominate the same acts over and over and over. Once a group has established a foothold in the biz, they're bound to return to the award show year after year, particularly in the Rock categories. While the Grammys often tend to look to past success stories for nominees in the Best Rock Album category -- last year's batch featured Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Neil Young and Led Zeppelin -- recent winners have been more contemporary. But since 2000, the category has been won by the Foo Fighters three times, and Green Day twice, and even relative upstarts like The Black Keys are starting...

With Glastonbury over, Download done with, and Latitude having just passed, you’d be forgiven for thinking that festival season might be finished for this year. But such is the diversity in the UK’s festival scene, we still have a good two months of action left yet. Bestival, Lounge on the Farm, and V are all on the horizon, while pretty much every city and county has a vast range of smaller, independent festivals on offer, right through until September.
What helps make the festival scene here is the huge choice. Between the hundreds of festivals, there are thousands of acts waiting to get out there and make everyone’s summers. Reading & Leeds are no exception of course, with a bill this year that contains the like of Arctic Monkeys, Blink 182, Queens of the Stone Age, Paramore, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Vampire Weekend all ready and...

Artist: The Lost Poets Album: Insubordia Production: Alex Holmberg Mfg Studios and The Lost Poets Pushing your limits to fulfill your desire to improve your lifestyle and achieve your goals can often be a dark experience for many people, no matter what their background is or how they previously lived their life. While there are many different approaches to how people can change their harrowing situations, the Stockholm-based rock band, The Lost Poets, drew on confidently heavy and deep ideas to infuse into the songs on their new debut Ep, ‘Insubordia.’ Drawing on such influences as Queens of the Stone Age, David Bowie and Soundgarden, the Swedish metal band enthrallingly [ Read More ]

Zane Lowe has revealed that Chase & Status told the most "shocking" story on his upcoming MTV show.
Soundchain will see Lowe speak to a different artist each week, discussing their careers and backgrounds, alongside special performances.
The BBC Radio 1 DJ hinted that electronic duo Chase & Status had a difficult but fruitful professional relationship with Plan B, aka Ben Drew.
He said: "I had spoken to Ben about Chase & Status [and he had implied that] 'we have a working relationship that's successful' but he gave off this vibe that it's not without its challenges.
"So I raised it with [Chase & Status] and said, 'I've got the feeling that you guys have this interesting relationship' and they told the most amazing story.
"The extremity of that story is just crazy. It was made out of pure love and admiration but it's a good example of a high intensity disagreeing moment."

Zane Lowe has promised "compelling" interviews with artists on his upcoming MTV series Soundchain.
Ed Sheeran, Nas and Biffy Clyro are among the musicians who will feature on Lowe's new show, which sees him speak to a different act each week about their career and background.
"We keep it really simple, and try not to reinvent anything," he said at a Q&A in London today (June 25). "If you get the right subject matter then it can be a compelling watch. It's about concentrating on their journey."
The BBC Radio 1 DJ said that the show is unique as it provides a historical document about different artists in 2014.
He explained: "What's really cool is that all these artists, a lot of them are really new. It's quite rare to speak to someone like Ed Sheeran and go, 'Let's go back', because he's too busy looking forward.
"Just because he's on album number two,...

Welcome back to Best Movie Trailers of the Week, a column where we handpick the best new movie trailers that have arrived online over the past week. Hercules The new domestic trailer for Dwayne Johnson’s Hercules is a little muddled and underwhelming, but that’s certainly not the case with the international edition. Whereas the domestic one takes a darker approach, using the death of Hercules’ family as the driving force and trying to up the momentum using Queens of the Stone Age’s “No One Knows,” the international trailer has far more success highlighting the film’s humor and using an orchestral beat to help set the pace and tone. The Green Inferno The serenity at the start of this new trailer for The Green Inferno is...

"No matter how fast you run, no matter how far you go, the beast will follow." Following an intriguing but not wholly convincing teaser trailer for the second Hercules film of the year, a full theatrical trailer has arrived. This time we get a better idea of the story, and the kind of threats Dwayne Johnson is facing along with the typical mythical creatures. There's a lot of epic style here, but for some reason, I just can't buy Johnson in this role, and I've been having a lot of fun watching the actor on screen over the past couple years. Plus, that reamix of the Queens of the Stone Age track "No One Knows" just feels all wrong in this trailer. But at least we get to see Ian McShane kicking some ass briefly. Could this turn out well? Watch! Here's the original theatrical trailer for Brett Ratner's Hercules,...

FX has officially renewed The Americans for a third season. Ratings aren’t great for this terrific show, but apparently FX was able to make it work thanks to DVR numbers and critical praise. Too bad that kind of equation wasn’t able to save Terriers from cancellation.
To paraphrase a pair of wise bears, “More wigs more fun!”
Barney Stinson‘s catchphrase, “Legend — wait for it — dary” is what linguists call that a “tmesis,” where a word or phrase is interrupted for (usually comedic) effect.
In a profile in The Hollywood Reporter, John Oliver says that making a satirical news show on a premium channel like HBO means more freedom to tackle challenging topics. “To do a very aggressive piece on [General Motors] before a congressional investigation, that’s potentially a problem on commercial TV. I don’t think it would be outlawed. But I think there would be a sense of,...

Sometimes when gay guys hate themselves, they start listening to Nickelback and pretend to be interested in sports. Other times, gay guys listen to Nickelback and watch sports stuff because they actually like doing those things. As a fellow gay person, I'm still trying to figure out which type I prefer. In any event, Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme (who is slowly morphing into David Lynch, in case you hadn't noticed) plays on this phenomenon in a new "Portlandia" sketch that sees him embodying possibly the most disappointing gay relative/friend of all time. Coming in with a solid assist is Nick Swardson, who demonstrates his comedic range by playing what amounts to the polar opposite of his roller-skating "Reno 911" character Terry Bernadino. The generic douche-rawk soundtrack is a perfect added touch. Follow Riot on Twitter...

Anthony Bourdain — the notoriously snarky chef, writer, and world traveler — is returning to CNN on April 13th with a new season of Parts Unknown, where he will continue to excavate local gastronomy in global locales, from street food in the Punjab to quotidian grub amidst the drug wars in Mexico. “We try to make each episode look as different as possible, with different physical cinematography," Bourdain says. "We'll use different equipment, different lenses, a different sort of reference of films - specifically tailored to each episode. We want each episode...
