Updated: Cecchi Gori, the movie company that once dominated Italy’s film industry and collapsed in the mid 1990s, is being revived by a group of Italian investors that are backing a partial relaunch of the storied brand behind Oscar winners “Life is Beautiful,” “Mediterraneo” and “Il Postino.”

Steven Spielberg.s 1975 thriller Jaws is widely credited as the first modern blockbuster, and it also made an entire generation pause and think, "You know what, on second thought maybe I don.t want to go swimming right now." As beloved and influential as the movie is, it.s seeped its way into a permanent position in popular culture, and one of the biggest instances of this is the phrase, "You.re gonna need a bigger boat." Writer Carl Gottlieb recently talked with The Hollywood Reporter, and revealed how the line came to be. Filmed largely on the water, the equipment for Jaws was all housed on a barge (nicknamed the USS Garage Sale), which, thanks to...

So there are two movements peacefully coexisting within the horror community regarding the quality of video you’re watching at home on your oversized television screen. The first movement involves a thing called a “blu ray” (not a death ray so don’t feel threatened by it). It provides beautiful high defintion picture, crystal audio, plenty of space for rad extra features, usually, more special features than your brain has room for. By shot-on-video or Sov for short we mean movies that are shot on or made to look like they’ve been shot on camcorders on VHS tape or other similar medium. I believe the word you’re looking for is dichotomy or maybe something more philosophical like yin and yang. You've seen our favorite drama episodes of 2011. Now, for the stuff that made us laugh.
As you'll see below, we love us some "Community" and "Parks and Recreation" at Zap2it. But we also found room for episodes of shows that aren't always consistent still capable of being very good. And also "Jersey Shore," which is not strictly a comedy but sure can be funny.
These were our favorite comedic episodes of 2011. What were yours?
Andrea Reiher
"Community" - "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons": There were a lot of great "Community" episodes in 2011, but my personal favorite was when the gang took Fat Neil under their collective wing and played an epic game of Dungeons & Dragons to make him feel included. From the portentous voiceover to Annie's hilarious portrayal of Hector the Well-Endowed, it was a massively fun episode.
"Psych" - "Last Night Gus": Gus and Shawn having adventurous shenanigans...

While there's no doubt Jim Parsons does incredible work as Sheldon on 'The Big Bang Theory,' one of the biggest bummers of Sunday's Emmy Awards telecast was the inimitable Steve Carell losing out on his final chance to win an Emmy for his six-year stint as Michael Scott on 'The Office.'
Though the show's writing has been uneven in recent seasons, there's no doubt Carell's performance -- especially in the episode 'Garage Sale,' where Scott proposed to longtime girlfriend Holly Flax -- was statuette-worthy.
Carell has been nominated for acting Emmys and Golden Globes for all six years he's played Michael Scott, but the only win he took for the character was in 2006, when he nabbed the Globe. The actor left 'The Office' this year, so it was his last chance to snag some Emmy love.

Michael Scott's (and Steve Carell's) last day at "The Office" promises to be an emotional one. This isn't going to be a play-by-play live blog, exactly, but we're hoping to capture our initial impressions of Carell's goodbye more or less as they happen. Come along for what we're expecting to be a tear-jerking ride.
So, here we go. NBC showed "Garage Sale" leading into this episode, so we're suitably prepared to get all sentimental.
Cold open: Fresh Rocky Mountain oysters, huh Dwight? It seems on-point that Dwight would be more concerned about his own future than Michael leaving. Also: The roof of Dunder Mifflin is probably not quite enough to get used to the altitude in Colorado.
Act 1 (more or less; we'll use commercial breaks to signify the segments of the episode, even if that doesn't match the act breaks in Greg Daniels' script): Wait -- Michael...

Ready or not, Michael Scott will utter his final foot-in-mouth and walk out of Dunder Mifflin’s doors for the last time in “Goodbye, Michael.” The special 50-minute episode (which airs at 9 p.m. on NBC) was written by Office executive producer Greg Daniels, who spoke exclusively to EW about tonight’s landmark episode and bidding farewell to Carell.

Kevin Smith famously decided to fund his own film, Red State, during its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Now the director is trying to raise funds for the film by auctioning off props from his various films.
The auction, called Kevin Smith Sells Out: The Offocial Askewniverse Garage Sale, will take place on April 10 at the Pasadena Convention center in Pasadena, CA.
Silent Bob and his partner Jay (JAson Mewes) will be on hand to participate in the auction and give fans some background info on the different props.
Some of the items on the auction block include, a set of wings worn by Ben Affleck in Dogma, a cash register from Clerks II, and many different costumes from various movies.
Surprisingly, Smith also announced he is going to retire from film making next year. What's he going to do instead?...

HollywoodNews.com: There’s news today that Will Arnett has joined the cast of a Lorne Michaels-produced pilot co-starring Christina Applegate and Maya Rudolph. That most certainly means that Arnett will not be the new boss on “The Office,” even though Ricky Gervais first told me on Golden Globe night that he wanted him. And so the mystery of who will succeed Steve Carell deepens. With Arnett scratched from the list, it seems more and more possible that Gervais himself will take the spot. (Will Ferrell, coming in for four episodes, returns to films.) Gervais re-appears in the final episode of “The Office” after making his debut back on January 27th as a sales guy looking for a job.

The Office has finally stopped lollygagging around the Michael-Holly will-they/won’t-they (of course they will) question? and given us what we all expected: The Proposal, albeit coyly buried under the episode’s evasive title “Garage Sale.” But who’s complaining? In the show’s 145-episode run, it’s deftly avoided cheap sentiment, and though Michael’s erratic behavior can be grating, [...]...

I am still smiling. As funny and mean as Michael Scott can be at times, he can also be ridiculously sweet. And "Garage Sale" harnessed all of the comedy and sweetness of Dunder Mifflin Scranton into one fine half hour of television.
There were plenty of laughs along the way, as Michael showcased both his crazy bargaining skills and his terrible attempt at asking Holly's father for her hand in marriage. It was the tenderness of the final proposal scene that brought everything together.
Michael Scott is such a die hard romantic that he wanted to make this moment perfect, and although Pam halted his first hilarious idea to propose via fire in the parking lot, I loved seeing this small group of employees help him get it right.
And right they got it! Michael taking the love of his life around the office to show her every place that reminded him of her,...

After seven seasons and countless screwups, Michael Scott probably deserved to get something exactly right. Which he did. Despite the sprinklers.
After all the speculation about how Michael (and Steve Carell) will leave "The Office," it looks like he's going to get a fairly happy ending. Or so it seems -- Carell still has three episodes left, which means Michael has ample time to make a mess of things. But after "Garage Sale," an incredibly sweet and extremely romantic episode, I hope he can make it through.
It was no secret that Michael was planning to propose to Holly in this episode. And he had a series of very Scott-esque ideas as to how he should do it: writing a message in fire, dropping a corpse off the roof -- you know, the usual stuff. "I want it to be an event that everyone talks about, always and forever," he says.

EW can exclusively reveal that Ricky Gervais and Will Arnett will appear in the finale.

On Friday, March 18, NBC released a sneak peek of "The Office" called "Proposal". There is indeed a ring, which costs Michael's three-year salary, and Holly Flax before she finds out what Michael is up to. The footage doesn't include the actual proposal but captures the boss showing off the bling to his employees before presenting it to Holly.
The episode, called "Garage Sale", is the first return episode after the sitcom went on a spring break. It airs on Thursday, March 24, only to take another two-week hiatus and come back on April 14 with the beginning of Steve Carell's departure story arc. Will Ferrell would appear for the first time in the April episode and stay until May 5. His character has something to do with Michael Scott leaving the company.

The Office spoiler alert: Michael Scott will soon propose to Holly, and you won't believe how.
Okay, this is Michael Scott. You may believe how.
On next week's new episode, Steve Carell's character will seek advice on the ideal way to pop this important question, producer/star Paul Lieberstein tells TV Guide:
"He's paralyzed by wanting it to be the perfect proposal - and perfect in a 'Michael Scott' way," says Lieberstein. "Pam catches him in one of his early attempts, which is to spell out 'Will you marry me?" in gasoline in the parking lot - which he plans to light on fire!"
Titled "Garage Sale," next week's Office installment was meant to mark Amy Ryan's final appearance on the sitcom. But new rumors suggest she'll show up again on Carell's final episode.
As always, you can visit our section of The Office quotes soon after it...

[1] Love Kevin Smith? Have money to burn? Well, what are you doing April 10? Auction house Propworx announced yesterday that it would be partnering with Smith for Kevin Smith Sells Out: The Official Askewniverse Garage Sale, a sale of hundreds of props and collectibles from Smith's various film and comic projects. Hit the jump for more details, including a statement from Smith. Kevin Smith Sells Out is part of Smith's cross-country tour for his new horror film Red State, which he bought [2] from himself for $20 at the last auction he hosted. (Let's hope this one doesn't end the same way.) Notable items up for sale include Bartleby's angel wings and fake blood-stained armor from Dogma and the burnt Quick Stop cash register from Clerks, as well as artwork from Smith's runs on Green Arrow and Daredevil: The Man Without Fear. Smith plans to podcast live for Jay and Silent Bob Get Old throughout the event.

Just yesterday we explained how in a crazy turn of events Kevin Smith bought the rights to his own film for $20 at the Sundance Film Festival where the writer/director was set to auction off the film to the higest bidder. The "odd ball" persona of Kevin Smith didn't stop there. Since then, he went on a huge "twitter" rant both enraging or overjoying fans, depending on your feelings towards the director. We have video footage of his post Sundance speech and full "tweet" after the break. Enjoy...
If you can read all of this below, you deserve a special dedicate "Kevin Smith" oversize t-shirt. We kid you Kevin, we love your enthusiasm. Enjoy! :)
From Kevin Smith: "In the Tweet that launched a thousand angry bloggers, I Very specifically said ” … I plan to pick my distributor in the room — auction style…” Then, Everyone Else said I was selling the movie.

There's been a lot of talk in the past twelve hours about Kevin Smith, Red State, 'four-walling [1],' and the way that Mr. Smith's distribution plans fit into the indie landscape. At the center of all the talk is the speech Mr Smith gave on stage after the debut Sundance screening of Red State. That's where his 'auction-style' sales plan was revealed to be less a sale than a hand-off. Now, thanks to the magic of video, you can see the whole speech for yourself. Plus, read the director's extended Twitter dialogue talking about the speech and the 'sale.' Watch and/or listen to this speech, paying particular attention to the financial talk that kicks in around five minutes in. That's where he talks about how he could make Red State for four million, sell it for six, then end up having to make almost $50m to recoup marketing costs and more.

Hong Kong distributor Kam & Ronson will be releasing Makoto Tanaka‘s Sing, Salmon, Sing! (Utatama) on region 3 DVD with English subtitles on June 22nd. When the film was released in 2008, it was billed as the next big uplifting teen comedy in the same vein as Waterboys, Swing Girls, and Hula Girls. Nikkatsu tried to sell it at the American Film Market later that year, but it was never picked up for distribution in the west.
Plot: Kasumi (Kaho) is a soprano in the Nanahama High School chorus and loves nothing more than to sing. When the popular student council president Makimura (Hideo Ishiguro) asks to photograph her, she couldn’t be more excited, but for some reason he seems to only want a shot of her while she’s singing. After her next performance, he shows her the photograph he took and jokingly informs her that her face resembles a spawning salmon whenever she sings.

Lots and lots of work hours, that’s how…If you haven’t gone out to see Crazy Heart yet, tomorrow is the perfect opportunity to do so. Local country honky-tonkers The Derailers are playing an after show at The Highball and you can get tickets for both events! If you’re one of those over-planner people, you might want to make some Valentine’s Day plans Now because our Valentine’S Day Feasts go On Sale Friday At Noon! Those sell out super fast and are pretty damn romantic and delicious.
