- Hodgson has managed the football teams Halmstads BK (1976-80), Bristol City (1982), IK Oddevold (1982), Örebro SK (1983-84), Malmö FF (1985-89), Neuchâtel Xamax (1990-92), Switzerland (1992-95), Inter Milan (1995-97, 1999), Blackburn Rovers (1997-98), Grasshoppers Zürich (1999-2000), FC Copenhagen (2000-01), Udinese (2001), United Arab Emirates (2002-04), Viking FK (2004-05), Finland (2006-07), Fulham (2007-10), Liverpool (2010-11), West Bromwich Albion (2011-12), England (2012-16) and Crystal Palace (2017-present).
- In the 2018-19 season, Hodgson was one of only four (out of 20) managers in the English Premier League who were English.
- He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to Football. He is the Lately Manager for the Crystal Palace Football Club, in London, Greater London, England.
- Can speak conversational level Swedish, Norwegian, German, Italian and French, largely from his time managing and training with football teams in the countries of those languages.
