- Amie graduated with distinction from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Cellular Developmental Biology, but subsequently received an advanced degree from University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama.
- She first fell in love with Timothy Treadwell's 1997 book "Among Grizzlies: Living with Wild Bears in Alaska" and eventually its author while working as a physician's assistant in Aurora, Colorado. Huguenard quit her job on January 31, 2003 and moved to Malibu, California where she was to start a new job after she and Timothy returned for the winter. The domestic partners had spent parts of the three previous summers together in Alaska. On September 29, 2003, Tim and Amie once again are transported to Kaflia Lake by Willy Fulton, both of them wanted one more chance to be with the bears before winter set in. Eight days later, Timothy and Amie both lost their lives when a Grizzly bear attacked them in Katmai National Park and Preserve's Kodiak Island area.
- Her remains were cremated. Her ashes were given to her family.
- She graduated from Indiana's Valparaiso High School in 1983.
- She and Timothy both grew up in the American state of New York. Timothy hailed from New York City's metropolitan area while Amie hailed from Buffalo which is a city in western Upstate New York.
