Paradigm Talent Agency has hired Chris Till as an agent in their theater literary and content division, Variety has learned exclusively.
The hiring brings Till back to Paradigm, as he previously worked at the agency early in his extensive entertainment career, as he now has over 20 years of industry experience. He previously spent over a decade at CAA before joining Verve in 2020 to help launch that agency’s New York office.
Till will be based in Paradigm’s New York office as well, with a focus on representing writers and directors across theatre, film and television.
“I’ve always thought of Chris as the one that got away,” said Paradigm partner and head of the New York office Jack Tantleff. “He started his career as a young agent at Paradigm, and I have watched as he built his business to become one of the truly bright stars in our industry.

Once Upon a One More Time will play its final Broadway performance Sept. 3.
The musical, which features the songs of Britney Spears and a storyline about fairytale princesses in search of enlightenment, began preview performances at the Marquis Theatre on May 13 and opened June 22. Spears approved the musical and suggested its initial themes. She also signed an underlying rights agreement with the show, which was notably one of the first deals Spears signed since a judge terminated her conservatorship.
The closing notice comes as the musical failed to catch on with critics and with Broadway audiences, with the show reporting capacities in the 50 percent range for the past seven weeks. In the last publicly reported week of grosses, ended Aug. 13, the musical grossed its lowest eight-performance week yet, bringing in $512,008.

It’s a story about girlhood idols clad in their iconic looks, living in a faraway land. There’s a handsome guy, but the ladies realize he’s sort of beside the point. One woman ponders: Isn’t there more to life? A godmother figure explains that our protagonist must fix things in her old world before a new happily ever after, one that looks far different than what she thought she wanted.
I’m not talking about Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie.” These are the story beats of a new Broadway musical, “Once Upon a One More Time” in which fairy-tale princesses Cinderella, Snow White, and more discover Betty Friedan and attempt to break free of the stories they’ve been assigned — all set to the music of Britney Spears.

In Once Upon a One More Time, classic fairy tale princesses meet the catalog of the princess of pop: Britney Spears.
The musical, nearly a decade in the making and supported by the icon herself, opened on Broadway in June, reintroducing the library of one of music’s most influential and enduring pop artist’s to the masses while also giving Spears fans something to scream, shout and let it all out about experiencing something live and in-person for the first time in years.
Arriving on Broadway alongside several other feminist tales like Six and & Juliet, and ahead of the premiere of Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie’s Barbie movie, Once Upon a One More Time signals that stories about women taking back control of their narratives are very much in. It’s a fitting message for a musical with the blessing of a singer who won her freedom from...

It’s Britney, bitch.
Or at least, it’s a Broadway musical based on songs from the pop star’s catalog.
Entitled Once Upon a One More Time, the musical — which opened at Broadway’s Marquis Theatre on Thursday — is set to Spears’ hit songs, including “Crazy” and “Circus.” The story itself, however, is not about her own life, despite fans who may see parallels between the pop icon and the musical’s cast of fairytale characters.
The plot of the two-act show featuring more than 20 of Spears’ hits follows Cinderella and other well-known storybook princesses as they try to break free from their presumed “happily ever after” narratives in search of their own empowerment. (A clandestinely acquired copy of Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique plays a key role in this.)

Hit me, Britney, one more time? In 2005, the Lady of the Lake in Monty Python’s Spamalot lamented, “I’m constantly replaced by Britney Spears.” These days, a lot of composers trying to get their scores onto Broadway stages could sing the same lyric: Spears’s music burst onto Broadway in Moulin Rouge in 2019 (“Toxic” appears in a mashup alongside Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”) and five of her songs appear in the jukebox musical & Juliet, including “…Baby One More Time,” “Oops!…I Did It Again,” and “Stronger.”
All four of those songs feature in the first all-Britney musical, Once Upon a One More Time, a frivolously delightful entry into the jukebox genre. Even though recent Broadway seasons have brought pro forma biographical musicals like Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Mj, and A Beautiful Noise, there’s been far greater pleasure in shows like Moulin Rouge, & Juliet, and the delirious...

Bad Cinderella could have been the poison apple that killed off revisionist fairy tales once and for all, but Britney Spears and Once Upon A One More Time, the new Broadway musical opening tonight that brims with her hits and high spirits, has come along to deliver a happy ever after that’s as unexpected as it is enchanting. Smart, funny, splendid to look at and all with a beat you can dance to, this tribute to the Brothers Grimm, the sisters of the Second Wave and, not least, the indomitable Ms. Spears, is a delight.
Husband and wife director & choreographers Keone & Mari Madrid have collaborated with book writer Jon Hartmere to come up with a technicolor confection that’s clever enough to play dumb once in a while, giddy enough to make a few points along the way and so winningly performed it seems a collection of beauties, princesses,...

Spears will produce the film with her manager, Larry Rudolph, and John Davis through his Davis Entertainment banner. The stage production will be directed by Kristin Hanggi (“Rock of Ages”) from an original book by Jon Hartmere. The film adaptation deal was brokered by CAA and was first reported by Deadline.

It's a Britney Spears musical, b*tch!
Before you grab your Catholic schoolgirl uniform or red patent leather jumpsuits, this won't be a musical based on the singer's life. Similar to Broadway classic Mamma Mia!, the musical comedy will incorporate 23 songs from the 37-year-old's iconic musical catalog to fit the story. Titled Once Upon a One More Time, the musical follows several fairy-tale princesses, including Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty, who are working through a collection of the Grimms' fairy tales with their fortnightly book club.
A rogue fairy godmother hears their wish for new reading material and brings them the feminist classic The Feminine Mystique, which spurs a "royal revelation." I just had a vision of Snow White cracking a whip at the Seven Dwarves while singing "Work B*tch," and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
The show will kick off performances in Chicago at the James M.

It’s Cinderella, bitch! Fairy tale princesses Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Rapunzel (and yes, Cinderella) are at the center of a new musical that will feature Britney Spears songs. Once Upon a One More Time will premiere in Chicago this fall before seeking a home on Broadway the following year. Theater owner James L. Nederlander is producing the show, which will center around a book club comprised of the fairy tale heroines.

A musical comedy featuring the songs of Britney Spears will fill the slot at the Chicago theater left vacant when producers of the upcoming Michael Jackson bio-musical scotched its own pre-Broadway run in the Windy City.
Once Upon a One More Time, with an original book by Jon Hartmere under the direction of Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages) and choreography by Keone & Mari Madrid (Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” video) will begin previews at Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre on Oct. 29, running through Dec. 1. Opening night is Nov. 13.
The Oct. 29-Dec. 1 engagement is the exact window that had been set aside for Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough before producers of that show, including the Jackson Estate, opted to nix the pre-Broadway Chicago stand last month and head straight to Broadway next year.
The world premiere Chicago engagement of the Spears show was made today by James L.

Hearing the logline for The Upside one might be forgiven for assuming that they could predict the beats of the film act by act. After all, after viewing nearly a century of films in which two men from vastly different racial and economic backgrounds are forced together through the machinations of outrageous fortune, how much variation can really exist anymore? Green Book, which tilled similar ground less than three months ago, was practically a primer on what we could expect from The Upside. Hilarious and insightful misunderstandings; jolly sojourns into one another’s lives; dramatic misunderstandings that lead to greater empathy; and eventually a realization that we humans aren’t so different from one another.
Shockingly, The Upside—which pairs Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston as a fast-talking ex-con Dell and a quadriplegic billionaire Phillip, respectively—does find a way to subvert these expectations. Bafflingly, it does so not by...

Chicago – In 2011, there was a notable French film called “The Intouchables,” based on the true story of quadriplegic Phillippe Pozzo di Borgo and the relationship with his caregiver. Leave it to the U.S. film industry to get its sticky fingers on the story, and seven years later Bryan Cranston portrays “Phillip” and his caretaker is portrayed by Kevin Hart. Instead of story, this version relies on its lead actors.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Intuitively and entertainment-wise, there is nothing wrong with the transformation. In the French version, the caregiver Driss is a poor immigrant in Paris. With Kevin Hart, renamed “Dell,” he’s an ex-con trying to reconnect with his son, who lives in public housing. Naturally, the role is rewired to exploit Hart’s comedic tics, but he does as much dramatic acting and pulls it off. Cranston is his usual competent self portraying Phillip… he understands the pathos of his situation,...

Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart do their best to boost a tired, cliché storyline in The Upside. It isn't enough.
Less than two months after another film (Green Book) about a white savior and a magic black man who come together under unusual circumstances to set each other’s lives back on course, The Upside limps into theaters with almost an identical set of problems as the entertaining but rote Viggo Mortensen-Mahershala Ali awards bait film. While The Upside, like Green Book, boasts generally strong performances from its two charismatic leads--Kevin Hart acquits himself pretty nicely in his first major dramatic role--the work done by Hart and co-star Bryan Cranston cannot save a cliché, manipulative and ultimately shallow movie.
The Upside is based on the 2011 French film The Intouchables, which became a major cultural phenomenon in that country and was itself inspired by the true story of Philippe Pozzo di Borgo...

How far can tremendous chemistry between leads take an otherwise average film? Does that one aspect that goes above and beyond make up for shortcomings in other parts of a piece of cinema? The answer varies, but in the case of The Upside, it’s just enough to warrant a recommendation. Seeing stars Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart play off of each other in this remake of the French hit The Intouchables is often a treat. When the film tries to be overly serious, it falls flat. When it opts for comedy, it’s on firmer ground. Mostly, it’s at its best when things are just a showcase for Cranston and Hart to enjoy each other’s company. The movie is a dramedy and, as previously mentioned, a remake. While searching for a new home care assistant, quadriplegic Phillip (Cranston) is less than enamored with the candidates. Deeply depressed...

For what it’s worth, “The Upside” is exactly what you think it is: the latest Hollywood effort that aims to show that a black man and a white man with seemingly nothing in common can see past their differences and develop a mutual friendship. It’s just as pat and basic as it looks and sounds.
Maybe as we enter 2019 clinging to ideals of goodness, there is a place for a film like this that doesn’t really have a point beyond which to say that we can, in fact, all get along no matter what. That is, after all, the basis of Dell (Kevin Hart) and Phillip’s (Bryan Cranston) professional relationship-turned-friendship.
When we first meet the two, we’re not really sure how they know each other, because Dell is behind the wheel of a luxury car driving at full speed while Phillip is quietly strapped in on the passenger side,...

While it was a perfectly enjoyable film, it’s not like anyone was really asking for a remake of The Intouchables, the French movie that landed back in 2011 to mostly positive reviews. That hasn’t stopped The Weinstein Company from pressing on with their project though and after bringing on Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart to star, the studio is now looking to round out the cast.
Empire’s reporting today that Nicole Kidman and The Night Of breakout Amara Karan have boarded the remake, which has Neil Burger in the director’s chair and Jon Hartmere on scripting duties. The Weinstein Company has been trying to develop a remake of French language hit film The Intouchables for a number of years, and has cycled through many combinations of stars and directors. The project looks set to go now, however, with final deals apparently in place for lead actors Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart, and director Neil Burger (Divergent).
The adapted script comes from Jon Hartmere (The Electric Company), and reportedly provides a new spin on the original material that was written by French filmmakers Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano. It is not clear how this Hollywood update will depart from the original, but the plot of that 2011 film sees a wealthy man hire a less wealthy man as his caretaker after he is paralysed in a devastating hang-gliding mishap.
