- Grew up on a family farm in Northwestern Alberta, Canada. The subject of his short film "From Sky and Soil" was taken from an instance in his childhood when many of his family's crops were destroyed by a hailstorm. Royce changed the gender of the character most resembling himself so that he could include Taylor Pardell in the project, an up-and-coming singer/actress he has directed for musical theater competitions, as she has long been one of his favorite talents.
