Exclusive: Seasoned TV director-producer Jason Ensler has been tapped to direct and executive produce the opening episode of Fox’s straight-to-series country music dynasty drama Monarch, produced by Fox Entertainment, and NBC’s drama pilot Dangerous Moms, from Warner Bros. TV and Universal TV. He is shooting the two pilots back-to-back in Atlanta.
Created and written by Melissa London Hilfers, Monarch is a Texas-sized, multigenerational musical drama about America’s first family of country music. NBC has handed a pilot order to Dangerous Moms, an adaptation of a Spanish drama series, from Claws showrunner Janine Sherman Barrois. The drama comes from Warner Bros Television, where Sherman Barrois is under an overall deal.

Argentina’s “Mother Dough,” a four-part doc series portraying how women have fed humanity through their work at home and their doughs, has won the first Iberseries Pitch, ending first year activities at this year’s Iberseries, an event which is setting out to become the foremost Spanish-language drama series festival in the world.
“‘Mother Dough’ is innovative and, at the same time. universal in its treatment, channelling the principal issues of the 21st century in a proposition that is distinctive, with multiple values in its visuals and content, a nexus connecting with our emotions,” said a jury made up of Ana Celia Urquidi, general manager, production at Mexico’s Hemisphere Media Group, Arantxa Écija, Mediaset España fiction director, and Alex Medeiros, director of development at Globo Channels, Brazil.

Missing persons cop drama series “Desaparecidos, la serie” (“Disappeared”), produced in collaboration with César Benítez’s Plano a Plano, marks Mediterráneo’s return to MipTV Drama Buyers Summit, albeit in a virtual format.
Mediterráneo, Mediaset España’s sales and distribution arm, brought to the 2019 edition dark comedy series “Señoras del (h)Ampa” (“Dangerous Moms”), which won the Coup de Coeur Prize.
