“Don’t Worry Darling,” “9-1-1” and the forthcoming comedy “80 for Brady” were among the winners at the 27th annual California on Location Awards Sunday night.
The ceremony, hosted by “Family Feud” announcer Rubin Ervin, recognized location managers, location teams and public employees who facilitated on-location productions across the state.
“Don’t Worry Darling” received location team of the year for a studio feature, beating category finalists “The Fabelmans” and “White Men Can’t Jump.” Chris Baugh, who was also nominated for his work on “Babylon,” scored location manager of the year for a studio feature for the psychological thriller.
“It was extremely difficult and challenging. So to pull that off — I can’t even remember it, but we got through it,” Baugh said, referring to his team for “Don’t Worry Darling.” “We were all in the trenches together and I couldn’t have done it without them. It was actually enjoyable,...

Over the last 15 years, Gale Harold has had recurring roles on shows as diverse as Defiance, Hellcats, Desperate Housewives, The Secret Circle and Vanished, and well-received turns on stage in Suddenly Last Summer and Orpheus Descending, but of course, it’s his role as the ultimate TV bad boy icon Brian Kinney on Queer As Folk for which he’s most well known.
Brian was the guy you loved to hate … or hated to love, and of all the gay characters ever seen on TV, he may be the most polarizing. But what can’t be argued with is what Gale brought to the role, a combination of charisma, danger, sex appeal, and ultimately … heart.
Today is Gale’s 45th birthday, so let’s take a look back at the career of the man who brought us one of TV’s most unforgettable bastards.

An actor who starred on "Queer as Folk" is dealing with some seriously hetero problems ... asking a judge for protection from an ex Gf who once aimed a coin jar at his head. It's gotten so bad they're now arguing about her weight.According to the docs, Gale Harold -- who played Brian Kinney on "Queer as Folk" -- got a restraining order against Danielle Saklofsky after telling a judge point blank, "I am afraid.

When Queer As Folk debuted, it was a huge step forward in gay representation on TV, and part of the success of the series was the performance of Randy Harrison as teenager Justin Taylor. Justin was the heart of the show, and began a love affair with the character Brian Kinney …who was the dick of the show (you can interpret that however you want).
After Qaf, Randy has worked steadily, mostly on stage, where he continues to shine. And look for him this year starring with Michael Urie in the indie film Such Good People.
This weekend is his 36th birthday, so let’s pay tribute with a gallery of Randy at his sunshine best.

As Aaliyah once sang, "Age ain't nothin but a number." Unfortunately, she was 13 and married to R. Kelly and had to get divorced, but not all May-December love stories are so tragic. With so much talk about age differences lately, whether its celebrity pairings or inane court cases, we thought we'd share our favorites.
Dorothy Snarker: Harold and Maude, which if you May youngsters out there haven't watched, you should for the Cat Stevens soundtrack alone. But mostly because Ruth Gordon is everything you've ever wanted to be when you grew up.
Bridget McManus: My vote goes to Tom Hanks and Elizabeth Perkins in Big. Although Hanks' Josh Baskin character is physically in an adult male body for most of the film let's not forget that he's just a 12-year-old boy wooing the 30-something New York businesswoman Susan.

Ah, Valentine’s Day. We’ve officially entered the season of love, romance, and overpriced chocolate. Here to help you get in the mood, your five rotating Siipping News columnists Hannah, Yvonne, Catherine, Adri and Aja have each assembled their top five most romantic (intentionally or not) slashy moments from many different fandoms. Included in this eclectic list is everything from movies to manga, so you’re sure to find a new fandom flame or rekindle an old love. Enjoy!
Hannah’s Top 5
Picking only five romantic moments was a big challenge for me considering how many TV shows, movies, comics and books I am forever in love with. But I’ve narrowed it down to these few heart-wrenching finalists.
5. Harvey/Mike (Suits 2.12): “Who did this to you?”

Bad is beautiful — especially when it comes to our favorite television characters. And that’s why TVLine is kicking off TV’s Ultimate Bad Boy Bracket Tournament, a competition that celebrates 64 classic small-screen roles — from the most hard-to-handle heartthrobs to the most deliciously wicked criminals.
What makes a great bad boy? Is he dark and a little bit dangerous? A good guy with a naughty, maybe even promiscuous streak? Could he be truly evil, but nevertheless tough to root against? We’d say any/all of the above traits makes a fella eligible for our tourney.

When EW released their list of the 20 Most Annoying Characters in TV History, I had several layers of reactions: 1) Why aren't more supporting roles from multicamera '90s sitcoms present? (The '90s was the defining decade of batty, scene-chewy supporting characters.) 2) Good call on Cousin Oliver. 3) Why is the only gay character represented from Smash, a show that began about ten minutes ago? I thought we'd help remedy that third problem with a quick list of the most annoying gay characters on TV. I've excluded soap operas and reality series, so forgive that blip in comprehension, but I've added an important twist: For some of these characters, being annoying is an important, even likable attribute. You can't stare at Jack McFarland for five munutes without embracing his full, loud-ass, annoying glory, right? Right. Here are the 8 characters who sprang to mind, somewhat painfully.

The results are in! We asked readers to name their favorite TV characters of all time and thousands responded. This year, for the first time, we weren't just asking about favorite gay TV characters. Folks could vote for characters of either gender - and all persuasions. Of course, this being AfterElton we expected gay characters to figure prominently on this list - and they do - but it is interesting to see what female and straight TV roles also resonated with the AfterElton readership.
Before we get to the actual rankings, here are a few statistics.
First, the top fifty came from a broad range of TV shows. Thirty programs were represented, and the two that made the best showing (Glee and Modern Family) placed only four characters each in the rankings.
Second, female characters nabbed 15 of the top 50 spots, or 30%.

TV's Most Crushworthy: Gale Harold and Sophia Bush take on 'Glee' stars Mark Salling and Naya Rivera
Last week, Zap2it asked our readers to make some tough decisions in our TV's Most Crushworthy competition. This week, we're narrowing the field yet again as we seek out the Ultimate TV Crush.
In this round, the ultimate Bad Boys and Bad Girls are going head to head... and judging by this particular competition, we're expecting some slushie throwing to happen. "Glee" fans have certainly made their voices heard, voting Santana (Naya Rivera) and Puck (Mark Salling) into the running.
That's not to say they don't have some stiff competition. Second to Santana is Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush) from "One Tree Hill," and while "Glee" may have more viewers than "Oth," there's no denying that nine years on the air leaves a major impression on fans. Plus, without Veronica Mars, who came in a close third, it's anybody's game at this point.

On Tuesday, February 7, a federal appeals court ruled California's same-sex marriage ban -- Prop 8 -- unconstitutional. This tremendous victory for gay marriage has been celebrated nationwide, and we here at HuffPost TV wanted to mark the occasion by celebrating our favorite gay TV couples.

Note: While one of TV's most iconic gay couples, "Queer as Folk's" Brian Kinney and Justin Taylor, did not make our list (there's a reason why!), we do hope you'll enjoy a video montage of Jack and Doug's cutest moments from "Dawson's Creek."

Gale Harold as The Secret Circle's Charles Meade
With last night’s episode of the latest CW addictive series, The Secret Circle, there was one departure from the show (at least for now) and a new, surprising revelation that viewers probably didn’t see coming. (I sure didn’t!) To help make sense of the unexpected twists and turns as well as tease what is to come on the witch-based series, Executive Producer Andrew Miller and series star Gale Harold joined a group of journalists at the CW offices earlier this week to answer all the burning questions after an early viewing of last night’s “Balcoin” episode.
[Spoiler Alert – if you haven’t watched last night’s episode of Secret Circle, there are plot details ahead.]

The actor has had recurring or guest starring roles on over two dozen TV series, and a disproportionate number of those appearances have ended with the death of his character. Alejandro was Justin Suarez' protective tough guy dad Santos on Ugly Betty – Shot and killed in a random convenience store robbery. He was Det. Nate Moretta on Southland – Caught in a gang riot and beaten to death.

With a full season pickup, the stars of The Secret Circle, The CW’s increasingly spooky multigenerational witch drama from Kevin Williamson and Andrew Miller, will have to get used to having a vague, but interesting, conversation about the show’s central mystery: What evil came to the town of Chance Harbor 16 years ago and caused a body count? If it was drawn by the power of a secret circle of young witches, does that mean two parents (Gale Harold and Natasha Henstridge), who’ve schemed to get their children to form a new circle, know what danger they’re putting them in?...

Thanks to his star-making role on Queer As Folk, actor Gale Harold knows a thing or two about playing the bad boy. Just don’t tell him that.
“Brian Kinney wasn’t an a**hole, I just think he didn’t care about toeing the line. He wanted to be himself, he simply wasn’t willing to take a back seat or entertain anyone else’s idea of right and wrong and he didn’t hesitate to let that be known,” explained Harold when asked during the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour about his penchant for playing the character fans love to hate. “So I don’t think he was a bad guy at all. In fact, he was a very very heroic character that took care of himself and lived to be what he thought what he wanted to be.”

Bad Boys. We love them. Even when we try to deny it, we know that a part of us gets starry-eyed at the leather, the attitude and the checkered pasts. It’s long been a cultural stereotype that girls love the bad boys, but in reality gay and bi men are just as susceptible to their charms. Ever since James Dean rumbled onto the big screen, people have been hooked.
Look into those eyes and try to resist...
But what is a Bad Boy, exactly? It used to be enough to simply be from "the wrong side of the tracks." But the concept has evolved over the years and today the Bad Boy is something more complicated and full of shades of gray. And sometimes a Bad Boy is really a bad boy, although that is a relatively new development when it comes to TV Bad Boys.

This week's players all starred on the incredibly gay Showtime series Queer as Folk. Which of them would you ...
Randy Harrison
On Qaf, Randy played Justin Taylor, a young aspiring artist and archetypal twink. Since then he's done a great deal of stage work and a few short films, as well as appearing in the web series Jack in a Box.
Gale Harold
Gale played acerbic “renegayde” Brian Kinney, who was romantically involved with Justin. He also played Jackson in the fifth season of Desperate Housewives and will be playing a lead role in the upcoming CW series The Secret Circle.
Peter Paige
Best known as fun, flamboyant Emmett Honeycutt, Peter has also appeared on the stage and in movies like Say Uncle, and lent his voice to animated shows such as Rick and Steve and American Dad.
Now that you've voted, please share your reasoning in the comments!

Much like green is the new black, it seems that witches are the new vampires.
A renewed interest in vampires really picked up about five years ago thanks to a book series, movie franchise and a certain British actor. And now a new crop of supernatural beings is coming to the forefront.
I’m a fan of the CW’s The Vampire Diaries, and one of my favorite characters is Bonnie, the Bff of vampire lookalike Elena. But Bonnie has some secrets of her own – she comes from a long line of witches. As she has grown into her powers, it has been interesting to see how these witches and vampires can work together toward a common goal, despite their natural inclination not to trust each other.
The CW will add to its paranormal activity next season – hopefully – with the addition of The Secret Circle. The pilot was filmed recently in Vancouver,...

Well, this is awkward... in a fictional sort of way.
Adam Harrington has joined "The Secret Circle," Kevin Williamson's drama pilot for The CW. "Queer as Folk" fans may remember Harrington as Connor James, an actor hired to play the comic book version of Brian Kinney in a movie.
As "Qof" fans know, Brian was played by Gale Harold, who was recently cast as Thomas Meade, the coven leader Diana's (Shelley Hennig) father. What's the saying we're looking for, something about a small world?
Zap2it has confirmed that Harrington, also known for his work on "Dexter," has joined the project as a guest star and will be playing Adam's (Thomas Dekker) father, Ethan Conant. Emily Holmes ("Snakes on a Plane") has also been cast in a guest-starring role: Cassie's (Britt Robertson) deceased mother, Amelia Blake.

When our sister site AfterEllen.com recently presented their list of 25 TV Characters You Should Not Date, we laughed along while smugly shaking our heads and thinking, "So many undateable women!" Then we started our own list ... and our smiles turned to tears. It's not that the gay men on our list don't have their strong points, but as you'll see, the cons outweigh the pros.
Lafayette Reynolds, True Blood
Pros: Hooker, please. You can't handle what he's got to offer.
Cons: Prostitute; V dealer; Suffers from post traumatic stress-from-being-chained-to-a-wheel-in-vampire-dungeon disorder
Dateability: Lafayette is fun and fierce, but don't take V with him or you'll soon be seeing floating voodoo tchotchkes and talking with your dead Grammy about future plot points.
Teddy Montgomery, 90210
Pros: Hot as hell; Rocks a wetsuit
Cons: Can only get life insurance from Art Linkletter; Likes shaking fist at clouds; Bursitis constantly flaring
Dateability: Teddy is hot,...

Rochester, NY - Ever wonder why schools today stink compared to decades ago? Every think tank moron has their dubious reasonings that appeases their corporate masters. But the truth is extraordinarily simple: Schools dumped their education films.
Do you remember those days when the gym teacher had to pad out health class by wheeling in the 16mm projector from the Av department? They’d thread up classic tales about your body, narcotics, driving safety and manners. Things which kids nowadays can’t seem to handle.
When the Vcr arrived in schools, the 16mm projector was quickly dumped as teaching tool.
Where did these classic films go? Many arrived at the city dump. However a few lucky tens of thousands found themselves on the racks of the Av Geeks Archive. This repository of cinematic education is overseen by Skip Elsheimer. He started collecting the films after I moved out of the infamous PineHaus.

Hello, "Vampire Diaries" fans! It's Carina and Tierney, back again -- but this time, we actually agree on something. (There's a first time for everything, right?)
Vampire-Diaries.net dug up the casting call for Klaus, the vampire out for Elena's blood and looking to seek vengeance against Katherine for slipping through his grasp 500 years ago. In order to break the vampire curse and walk in the sun without a ring, Klaus needs to kill not only Elena, but Bonnie, Tyler, and Caroline as well.
According to the casting sides, "Klaus is late-20′s to mid-30′s. He's handsome, charming, intelligent, with a sharp wit. He's the only person who can out-Damon Damon. That's because he's got a thousand years on him. Klaus is one of the Originals. Possibly the oldest. But you'd never know it because he keeps up with the times."
Ooh, sounds sexy. We put our heads together...

“Most gay men have the emotional maturity of adolescent girls,” states one character from writer-director Rob Williams’ Role/Play, a so-called romantic comedy featured at this year’s Image+Nation film festival. While the audience laughs in recognition of the stereotype that inspires such a line, a similar statement can be made of gay-themed movies, particularly those classified as “romcoms.” I don’t wish to imply that Role/Play and Douglas Langway’s BearCity, another American “You’ll Laugh! You’ll Cry! You’ll See Tons of Male Flesh!” effort, are representative of what the festival had to offer. Rather, I would argue that they are emblematic of the audience’s low standards when faced with the festival’s lighter fare. In the case of both films,...

This is the Glee I fell in love with. This is pure, classic, epic, 100 percent unadulterated Glee. It had laughter, it had tears (a lot more of the second than the first), and it even had god.
Now, the last time I watched a television show in which a teenage boy said he'd just seen the face of god was in the pilot of Queer as Folk, right after 17-year-old Justin had spent his first night with Brian Kinney. I didn't expect anything like that would ever happen on TV again, and until tonight's episode of Glee and Finn's discovery of the face of Jesus on his grilled cheese sandwich, it hadn't.
Finn, who fired up the old George Foreman grill even though it had never been the same after he'd used it to dry his sneakers, was suitably awestruck by his discovery, and earnestly prayed to the sandwich to...

Gale Harold, best known for five seasons as playboy Brian Kinney on "Queer as Folk" and his interrupted "Desperate Housewives" run, is headed back to school as he joins the collegiate world of The CW's "Hellcats" as Marti's (Aly Michalka) law professor.
When Zap2it met up with Harold in Los Angeles, he told us that we shouldn't expect to see much of Brian Kinney in Julian.
"[Julian] could actually be held accountable for some of his not-so-straightforward moves," he says. "He's more responsible. The law is his life. It's not cars or discos. He realizes the responsibility he has in the classroom. He's got to make sure that these students get the point and take it on and understand it."
His teaching methods may be a little bit unconventional. "He's teaching, but he's very loose with his information," Harold explains. Playing such a dedicated teacher has been a challenge for him as an actor.

The nation and indeed the world took some time to remember Sept 11, 2001 over the weekend. Beyond a couple incidents, it went smoother than I had anticipated. I did find a memorial page to the Glbt victims of September 11. It was so many more than just Mark Bingham.
The story of NYC professional photographer Bill Biggart is stunning. He walked toward the towers that morning, taking pictures with three cameras, two film and one digital. Eventually he got so close documenting the tragedy that he was crushed by debris. His camera bag was recovered, and the film was ruined, but his flash card was preserved. His last photo is stunning, and indeed the 150 photos on the digital camera tell the story of his day.

HollywoodNews.com: Glad I picked up the latest issue of Rage Monthly because inside is a really terrific interview with actor Gale Harold who played Brian Kinney for five seasons on Queer as Folk.
Gale and The L Word’s Jennifer Beals were honored earlier this month at The Center Orange County 2010 Gala Celebration for their contribution to the Lgbt experience due to their roles on these landmark Showtime dramas.
Of Q as F Gale says: “There are hundreds of specific memories but I think in terms of overall memory that comes back to me is how invigorating it was to be working on that role. It was frightening to me taking on that part because I’d seen Aiden Gillen in the original [UK version] by Russell T. Davies.
I’m glad that I did but it was such a strong performance, I wanted to bring something that could stand up to it.

When As the World Turns ends this fall, Luke, Reid and Noah will be replaced by a knockoff of The View. At least that’s the plan. Technicolor, whose logo has appeared at the end of everything I’ve ever watched, wants to get into original animation. I don’t really know what their primary business is, but it seems they already own an animation studio, so all they needed to get started was original material, which they’ve found in Berkley Breathed's Pete & Pickles series.

After triumphing for two years in a row, Jake Gyllenhaal is not the winner of our third annual AfterElton.com Hot 100 poll (see the results for 2007 here and 2008 here). So which out man did take the top spot? If you’re the kind of person who always burns their mouth biting into that piping hot chocolate chip cookie, you can just cheat and go here to learn who came in first place.
Here at AfterElton.com, we’re thrilled to announce an out gay man topped this year’s list – especially this particular man as most of us voted for him as well. In fact, out gay men snagged nearly 20% of the spots, including the top three. To be sure, we’ve nothing against our straight male crushes, but it says something great about 2009 that there are so many out men to choose from.

When it comes to his favorite roles, does Gale Harold prefer Liberty Avenue or Wisteria Lane? Neither, he told AfterElton.com. It turns out he's more of a Christmas Town kind of guy.
We talked to Gale after he joined the cast of Desperate Housewives earlier this year. But when a serious motorcycle accident put him in the hospital with a brain injury and fractured shoulder in October, we put the piece on hold until we knew if he'd be all right, and whether or not he'd be able to return to the series.
Because AfterElton.com editor Michael Jensen made the mistake of letting our readers know we'd done the interview, he started getting a steady stream of emails from Gale's fans wondering if and when it would see the light of day. Television matters. Who and what we see on our screens each week tells us a great deal about who and what is relevant in society, who has power, and who doesn’t. That’s why AfterElton.com pays such close attention to the shows that have gay characters and gay storylines, analyzing what each new character and plot twist says about the acceptance of gay and bisexual men in today’s world.
Television programming as we know it today came into existence approximately seventy years ago.
