Ted Schroeder was born on July 20, 1921 in Newark, New Jersey, USA. He was married to Ann de Windt. He died on May 26, 2006 in La Jolla, California, USA.
Inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1966.
Was the men's single champion at the 1949 Wimbledon tournament. He also
won several U.S. Open championships
After winning his 1942 United States National title in men's singles,
he enlisted in the Navy, serving on destroyers and as a fighter pilot
in World War II until his discharge in 1945.
