Viaplay Sets True-Life Disaster Story ‘Roombeek’ As Latest Dutch Original Drama Series
Viaplay has ordered its latest Dutch original: a four-part drama from Banjiay Benelux label EndemolShine Scripted about the 2000 Enschede fireworks warehouse explosion titled Roombeek. The horrific tragedy killed 23 people and injured 950 and the series will explore its devastating human impact and aftermath. Casting for the series is underway, and production will begin in early 2023, with EndemolShine Scripted’s Gerd-Jan van Dalen and Viaplay Group’s Kennard Bos producing. Having launched in the Netherlands in March, Viaplay’s scripted original slate from the territory includes true crime drama The Hunt for Jasper S., produced by Willem Bosch and Pieter Kuijpers; dark comedy Something Stupid, created by novelist Saskia Noort; and Liesbeth Strik’s drama The Guilty. "Star Trek: Discovery" director and executive producer Olatunde Osunsanmi has just signed a development deal with CBS Studios, according to Deadline. The multi-year deal will include the new sci-fi drama "Myth, which Osunsanmi was already working on. The upcoming series will be co-written by Osunsanmi and Olu Odebunmi and Tolu Awosika, who are the creators of "Shaka: King of the Zulu Nation."

Exclusive: Olatunde Osunsanmi, director/executive producer of Star Trek: Discovery, has signed a multi-year overall deal with the studio behind the flagship Star Trek Universe series, CBS Studios.
This marks the first overall pact for writer-director-producer Osunsanmi who is already working on the first project under the agreement, sci-fi drama Myth. Osunsanmi is co-writing Myth with Shaka: King of the Zulu Nation creators Olu Odebunmi and Tolu Awosika. Osunsanmi is set to direct the pilot for the project, which he is producing through the Silent Storm Productions banner he recently launched with his wife, writer-producer Lorna Clarke Osunsanmi (All American). CBS Studios will be taking Myth out to market in the coming weeks.
