After delivering some of the weirdest, the most tense, and the most topical moments on TV this summer, BrainDead’s first season has come to a close. The series that came from the minds behind The Good Wife and put space bugs into the minds of politicians aired its season finale on CBS tonight. Creators Michelle and Robert King chatted with HitFix to look back at their wacky political satire and break down what we saw in those concluding two hours tonight. Warning: Spoilers Ahead For Braindead’S Season 1 Finale So our ragtag team has defeated the bugs, and things have gone back to normal in D.C.: There’s a lot of stupidity on Capitol Hill but no longer any extraterrestrial-born insanity. “All the heads explosions notwithstanding, mostly everything turned out alright,” the show’s musical recapper, Jonathan Coulton, sings as he wraps up some loose ends. The...

We’ve all been there. A family member is deathly ill, an outsider is probably to blame, and local criminal has the solution if you have the cash. But what happens when you wake up the next morning with a hangover and the realization that maybe hiring a hit man wasn’t the wisest decision? Harper (Tye Sheridan) is a law student distracted by a mom in intensive care. She fell into a coma under questionable circumstances — questionable to Harper anyway — and he strongly suspects her boyfriend Vincent (Stephen Moyer) is responsible. A run-in with his stepdad sends Harper out to a local bar where he crosses paths with a thug named Johnny Ray (Emory Cohen) and his lady friend Cherry (Bel Powley). Drinks are consumed, plans are made, and the next morning when Johnny comes calling Harper realizes what he’s done. The trio are going to follow Vincent to his “business” meeting in Las Vegas...

Nashville, Tenn. — A Nashville lawyer who opposes legislation that would crack down on ticket scalping in Tennessee alleges that a manager of The Black Keys tried to persuade him to change his position in exchange for tickets to a performance by the band.
Attorney John Ray Clemmons said in a letter to a Senate committee chairman that he was disturbed by repeated efforts by Fielding Logan, who also manages country star Eric Church, to give him tickets.
Wtvf-tv reports Logan in a written response to Johnson acknowledged he offered the tickets but said he only meant to demonstrate how easily paperless tickets can be transferred.
Clemmons' letter was forwarded to the Nashville prosecutor's office. A spokeswoman there said it hadn't yet been received.
Logan didn't immediately return a message seeking comment Wednesday.

Bay Guardian critics briefly preview eleven selections as well. Here, for example, is Johnny Ray Huston on Free Radicals: A History of Experimental Film:...

The Asian director's debut feature about an illicit seaside romance by two young Koreans beat out seven other films for the top honor for emerging East Asian filmmakers in Vancouver.
Jurors Noel Vera, Johnny Ray Huston and Ikeda Hiroyuka praised the film, which had its world premiere in Vancouver, for its seamless structure and strong camerawork.
Vera, a Manila-based film critic, said Jang "took an old, old, old story -- your classic boy-meets-girl, boy- loses girl -- and made it feel fresh by the strength of his direction."
The announcement was greeted by whoops of delight from the films' Vancouver contingent, which included producer Kim Woo-ri and lead actors Seo Jun-Yeong and Lee Min-ji.
