Stalker
Stars: Anna Brecon, Jane March, Linda Hayden, Colin Salmon, Billy Murray, Jennifer Matter | Written and Directed by Martin Kemp
“Hey,” I thought as Stalker’s opening scene began; a sequence in which a young woman runs through some woods in the magic hour. “This looks just like that short film I made in media studies at sixth form!” A rather unfortunate indictment to be sure, but hey, I learnt a lot from media studies. Ha ha ha!
Stalker is a remake/reimagining/whatever of the 1976 video nasty Exposé, in which struggling author Paula Martin (Brecon) relocates to a spooky old house in the middle of nowhere with her Pa Linda (March) in order to write her new book, whereupon bad shit starts to go down as Paula battles her personal demons. It’s directed by Martin Kemp. The same Martin Kemp who was in Spandau Ballet and Eastenders. That guy.

Director: Daniel Benmayor.
Writer: Mario Schoendorff.
Paintball is a film shot in Spain by first time director Daniel Benmayor. Partially produced by European film company Filmax, Paintball was released on DVD in North America late in 2010. The film is amateurish early with little character development, while this horror train begins to pick up speed by the last third of the film. But will the pacing issues, lack of characterizations, and poor acting get viewers to the final act? This reviewer barely made it; yet, others will likely get off at the first available station.
Several semi-pro paintballers head out into the local mountains for a weekend of fun and simulated battle good times. Set to capture the opponents flags, this squad, led by David (Brendan Mackey) do everything wrong in the paintball rule book. Soon masks are hanging loosely around necks, characters are screaming, while few characters use cover, to protect themselves from future welts.

Just in time for its debut at the Film4 FrightFest we've gotten our hands on a couple of more stills and even the DVD cover art for Dead Cert!
After premiering at London Film4 FrightFest (August 26-30), Dead Cert will be released on DVD in UK by Momentum Pictures on September 27th. Special Features include an audio commentary, and a making-of featurette.
Producer Jonathan Sothcott says of star Billy Murray (pictured below), "“Billy Murray has the same qualities as an actor that DeNiro and Nicholson do – he can be utterly charming and utterly terrifying – and he can turn either on at will. He’s an actor whose brilliant TV work kept him away from film audiences in the last decade but his performances in recent movies like Rise of the Footsoldier, Freight and now Dead Cert are utterly compelling – an incredibly accomplished, stylish film actor at the top of his game.

Now here's a flick about vampires we can really get behind! That's right, kids, you won't be finding any sparkling teenage brooders in Steven Lawson's UK vampire import Dead Cert, and we've got some new artwork and stills to prove it!
Starring Craig Fairbrass and Billy Murray, director Steve Lawson's Dead Cert follows a gang of tough London gangsters who get more than they bargained for when a group of businessmen make an offer to buy their club, the Inferno. They turn out to be nothing less than vampires wanting their land back and turn viciously on the gangsters when their demands are not met.
"One of the things I strove to give this movie is a sense of history, of vampire lore," says writer/producer Jonathan Sothcott. "In a lot of ways this is a super-modern version of Dracula, which is a pretty big undertaking given that...

Fango has learned that IFC Films has grabbed another pair of fear features from overseas, to premiere on the company’s video-on-demand platforms ahead of eventual DVD release. New to the IFC roster are the Australian chiller Coffin Rock (pictured) and the Spanish production Paintball. Coffin Rock, written and directed by Rupert Glasson, is about a young married woman (Lisa Chappell) who drunkenly sleeps with a stranger; when she becomes pregnant, the one-night stand begins a psychopathic campaign to prove the baby is his. Robert Taylor, Sam Parsonson and The Cars That Ate Paris’ Terry Camilleri co-star. In Paintball, directed by Daniel Benmayor from a Mario Schoendorff script, a group of contestants...

One of the shining stars at the Tribeca Film Festival is "Paintball," an independent Spanish film from director Daniel Benmayor. One of only three horror films currently playing at the Tribeca Film Festival "Paintball," along with "Hysterical Psycho," and "The House of the Devil," can now be seen by horror film fans on the east coast. From director Benmayor and screenwriter Mario Schoendorff "Paintball," makes a social commentary on our tribalist society and how the role of violence, in various media forms, still remains relevant to society today. Also, adding in several tricks of the camera, first time director, Benmayor will add a visually appealing landscape that will thrill those fortunate enough to receive initial screenings. Have a look at the available details for "Paintball," here and let us all hope that "Paintball," also shows at the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival this summer.

Producer Jonathan Sothcott gave Fango the scoop that his long-mooted remake of the 1976 British chiller The House On Straw Hill (a.k.a. EXPOSÉ) is set to roll March 23 in East England. Actor (Waxwork II, Embrace Of The Vampire) turned filmmaker Martin Kemp (pictured below) scripted the film and is directing, with Sothcott producing via his Black and Blue Films.
The story concerns a best-selling author named Paula Martin who’s suffering writer’s block on her latest book, and goes to an old house in the country to get her creative juices flowing again. Paula requests her agent to send her an assistant, who turns out to be a young woman named Linda. At first the two get along great—but then Linda becomes manipulative, then violent, then homicidal.

We first heard about Spanish scare flick Paintball last September and ever since we wondered if you could really get a credible horror film, out of the premise of a “Paintballing” tournament. Well after watching the first teaser, it seems local film house Filmax might just have pulled something off. The Trailer of course isn’t giving a hell of a lot (helped by the fact its been shot in what looks like infra red) away, but its intriguing enough to want to see more - Done it’s job well then. The movie is helmed by first time director Daniel Benmayor and stars Jennifer Matter, Patrick Regis, Brendan Mackey, Neil Maskell. Cue a very long synopsis to read, or head straight down the page to the teaser:...
