This week One Frightful Night examines the murder of of Carala Fuqua, in a case that took over six years to solve. Oct. 29, 2009 in Alabama and 28-year-old Carla Michelle Fuqua told her roommate that she was heading out to meet someone, she was never seen alive again. It would be over three years before her remains were found in some woods near Alabama 21. The police investigation then reignited and led them to Jimmy Ray Steed, who was already in the county jail on charges related to the manufacture of methamphetamines. I kicked off my recap of The X Factor‘s series premiere with a multiple choice question, so it seems somehow fitting to also begin our discussion of its sophomore outing by asking everyone to get out their No. 2 pencils and grapple with this mind-bender: A mega-hyped talent competition is airing its second episode, and 50 minutes in, the most entertaining aspect is a cellphone ad starring the show’s ornery British judge: How many minutes until you change the channel, or else find yourself mesmerized by a filthy, half-deflated basketball that undoubtedly deserves the Emmy for Outstanding Prop in a Reality Series Backstory?...

Ah, 2010. A year of glamour, intrigue and lots and lots of orange people. Seriously, when will the orange go away? Do people really still Mystic? Didn't that go the way of Crystal Pepsi and Jimmy Ray?
For me, 2010 was the year in which I gleefully joined the Pajiba world, here to either mildly bemuse or completely annoy you and cause you to question your very allegiance to this site. One of those two primarily. And I've relished in my newfound home in which to spread the good word of celebrity dickery.
Celebrity gossip, as I see it, needn't be mere fluff your mom reads at the grocery store. To me, it's a genuinely fascinating piece of society. These people are treated alternately as gods and goddesses, or varying sizes of turds, depending entirely on the day and moral barometer. I love it. I love hating them, I love ridiculing them,...
