- When deciding to wrestle in Mexico as a heel (a bad guy), Guerrero originally thought of the name of "Joe Morgan" for his American heritage. However, he didn't like that name. He wanted to use his name, but he thought his first name, Salvador, wasn't catchy enough. However, he thought of his matches. Known for his matches to be bloody, He decides to go under the character name "Gory" Guerrero.
- While part of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), Gory won the NWA Welterweight Championship. Ironically, Gory was not a welterweight in wrestling.
