Freda Nelson Evans was born in Bakersfield, California. At the age of
2, her parents moved to El Paso, Texas where she grew up. She attended
El Paso High School and the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) where
she had a 4 year scholarship in Vocal Music Performance. She got
involved with community theater there and found her love for singing
and acting. Although she started off singing in the chorus, after a few
years she was performing lead roles. Her favorite roles include Dolly
Levy in "Hello Dolly", Bloody Mary in "South Pacific", Golde in
"Fiddler on the Roof", Katisha in "The Mikado", and Little Buttercup in
"Pirates of Penzance". After UTEP, she transferred to UCLA and
graduated with a degree in Mathematics.
Sang for 5 star General Omar Bradley's 85th Birthday, accompanied by
the 62nd Army Stage Band.
Sang in concerts under the direction of Zuben Mehta and Carmen Dragon.
Has been a featured performer for 2 years at the 4th of July
Celebration at Foxborough Park in Aliso Viejo, California.
Has sung in concert as Soloist with the 80 piece South Coast Symphony
Orchestra and 17 piece Moonlight Express Swing Big Band.
When she appeared as the Widow Paroo in the staged concert version of
the musical "The Music Man", her husband, Michael played bass in the
symphony orchestra which accompanied the production. (2006)
