Television was a nascent medium in 1949 when Bill Hayes made his debut on “Fireball Fun-For-All,” a zany comedy-variety series fronted by vaudeville comedians Ole Olsen and Chick Johnson.
The series only lasted three months, but that was long enough to set Hayes on the path to become a TV legend through his role as Doug Williams, a pillar of the venerable daytime series “Days of Our Lives” for more than five decades. Hayes, who died Jan. 12 at the age of 98, never forgot the invaluable training he learned from working in the early days of live TV.
“The cameras were huge and immovable back then,” Hayes told Variety in 2018 when he and Susan Seaforth Hayes, his wife of 49 years and longtime “Days” leading lady, were awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmy Awards. “They didn’t have the capability of zooming in or out. It was all live until...

All right, who thought killing Laura off was a good idea?
A year ago, Bill Horton died off-screen for no reason other than it gave the writers a flimsy exit story for JJ that didn't respect his character at all.
And now, Laura's joined her husband in the great beyond as part of an equally ridiculous storyline.
Laura was not one of my favorite characters, and she certainly did herself no favors this time around.
But she is a legacy character and one of the last links to Alice and Tom. Remember them, writers? The heads of the family that Days of Our Lives revolved around from 1965 until MacDonald Carey died in 1994?
And she died in a particularly unoriginal way for no reason other than that it will likely cause a conflict between Jack and Jennifer when the truth comes out about what happened to her.

In Salem, crime generally pays.
The jails are full of people who were falsely arrested for someone else's crime, while those who cheat, steal, or murder get to walk on the flimsiest of excuses.
But on Days of Our Lives during the week of 2-17-20, Gabi got a dose of karma -- at least for now. How long will it last?
Knowing how these things usually work, Gabi will likely get herself out of jail in some annoyingly manipulative way.
But God, it was satisfying to see her wedding crumble into chaos, not to mention the dressing down Sonny gave her after she was arrested.
Gabi has an app on her phone that can manipulate your heart.

There was only one problem with the whole wedding setup: Lani was about 18 months too late.

Days of Our Lives fans were shocked and horrified when we got the bad news yesterday. We knew that it was coming, of course, but not one of us was prepared for the sadness that Jennifer would feel when she got that call. The call that Bill Horton has passed was sad for her, and it was something we simply don’t think that she has the ability to process right this second. She’s been through so much in such a short period of time, and she’s not been herself lately. She only just remembered that it was her close friend

From Flushed Away and Hunchback to Titan A.E. and Sky High - the family movies that don't get the love they deserve...
When I sit through a film such as Zootropolis, Rango, Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Eddie The Eagle or Coraline, I can’t help but be thankful somebody has bothered. As a parent as well as a movie lover, I’ve grown to really dislike family movies that just turn up to act as a surrogate babysitter for 90 minutes, with no intention of becoming anybody’s favourite film. The films I'm going to talk about are the family movies therefore that I think both try and do something a bit more, yet continue to fly under many people's radar.
A bonus mention before we get going, and number 26 in the list, much to my surprise: Alvin & The Chipmunks 4. I was expecting next to zero from it, courtesy...

Nick confesses to Gabi and apologizes to Will. It better be one hell of an apology.
NiCoco™ has a flashback to Johnny asking why she doesn’t marry Father Hottie. Don’t worry Johnny, in a year or two I’m sure you’ll be old enough to do it yourself.
Lucas comes in to see Will and the baby. Meanwhile, a tearful Nick begins his redemption. He tells Gabi “It’s time you knew the truth about me. You may think you know me, but you can’t. I don’t even know who I am.”
Kristen is sobbing on the floor and looks up to see Marlena. She spits out (literally, there was saliva everywhere) “Bitch!” Actually, it sounded more like “Bish!” Marlena is unaffected, and says, “Isn’t that what payback is, Kristin?”
Lucas tells Sonny thank you for bringing the baby to Will, but Will says it was Nick.

On Friday (September 17), a jury awarded $40,000 to the man who sued Kid Rock after the star and his entourage sparked a brawl in 2007, according to The Associated Press.
The sum was awarded to Harlen Akins, who initially sought $6,000 in medical fees and an unspecified amount of punitive damages. Punitive damages were not awarded, but Akins will receive $40,000 in compensatory damages. Rock will not shoulder the entire amount and is only responsible for 15 percent. Guitarist Jason Krause will pay the majority of the sum, 70 percent, because he was found to have lobbed the first punch. Rock's personal assistant James Murphy will dole out 10 percent, and his executive assistant Brian Lang will pay 5 percent.
Rock (born Robert James Ritchie) and his crew were sued by Akins following a scuffle at an Atlanta-area Waffle House three years ago.

Kid Rock tried to act as peacemaker when a fight broke out between his entourage and a fellow diner at an Atlanta, Georgia restaurant in 2007, and was forced to hit back when he found himself under attack, a court has heard.
The "All Summer Long" singer headed to a DeKalb County court on Tuesday, September 14 to face a civil suit filed by Harlen Akins, who claims he was beaten up by Rock and his pals for no reason after an argument at a branch of the Atlanta Waffle House. Rock and five members of his crew are named in the lawsuit, in which they are accused of behaving "like a pack of wild animals" and picking on Akins for no apparent reason.
In his opening statement, the plaintiff's lawyer, Eric Hertz, alleged Rock initiated the brawl following a confrontation inside the restaurant and reportedly told his friend, "Go out there...
