Alison Hammond has apologised for “making light” of theatre audiences singing along at musicals after police were called to a disrupted production of The Bodyguard in Manchester.
On This Morning last Wednesday (5 March), Hammond, her co-host Dermot O’Leary and guest Vanessa Feltz discussed news that the Palace Theatre had asked audiences not to sing along with the touring production of the musical due to “anti-social behaviour”.
“I can’t believe it. I’d be devastated, I’m not even going to go to that show now,” Hammond said, with Feltz asking: “Isn’t the whole point of going to a musical you know, that you sing along to all the bits you know and when you don’t know the words you just make them up?”

As Jimmy Durante once noted, “Everybody wants to get into the act!”
That was evidenced by disturbances at Manchester, UK’s Palace Theater Friday night, where unruly patrons wouldn’t stop singing along with the musical “The Bodyguard,” according to a report by Sky News.
Police were called to the theater, resulting in the show being stopped 10 minutes before the end. Some audience members were reportedly “singing over the lead during the final song.”
Two people were removed from the venue, Greater Manchester Police said, and charges are being decided.
“Officers were called to the Palace Theatre last night after staff reported a number of people in the audience causing a disturbance,” a spokesperson said. “Two people removed by security staff were spoken to by police and a decision about any further action will be made once the evidence has been reviewed.”
The removal at the end was the second such incident on the night.

The 38-year-old singer has agreed that she hasn’t put the work in to find a significant other but she is ‘trying’.
A lot of it comes from avoidance, reports ‘Female First UK’.
She told ‘Hello!’ magazine: “I haven’t had a lot of luck, but I think I have been avoidant in a lot of ways. I didn’t know that it takes work, so I’m trying to do that now.”
The theatre star — who is currently starring in the UK tour of ‘The Bodyguard’ — revealed in 2017 that she never had a serious boyfriend since she was a teenager and didn’t want to “f*** up” her time in the girl group by having a guy around to distract her.

The Pussycat Dolls, the girl group formed by Robin Antin in the mid-1990s which featured former “X Factor” judge Nicole Scherzinger, is suing British news outlet the Daily Mail over stories it ran in October 2017 claiming that the members were abused and that the group served as a “front for a prostitution ring.”
The allegations were made by a former backup singer named Kaya Jones, who was quoted extensively in an Oct. 17 article with the headline: “Exclusive: Defiant ex-Pussycat Doll Ms. Jones tells how top record exec sexually assaulted her in the back of his limo – one day after saying the band was more ‘prostitution ring’ than pop group.” In various articles related to the claims, she also asserts that the girls were “drugged” and that Antin was “responsible” for their treatment as well as the 2014 suicide death of Simone Battle, a member of girl group G.R.L.

We’ve all had that nightmare: You walk into your 10th grade classroom and everyone starts to laugh. You look down and realize that you’ve completely forgotten to put on clothes! Ugh, we’re breaking out into a cold sweat just thinking about it. But for some celebs, that bad dream is often their terrifying reality. Some major stars like Rihanna and Lady Gaga have made it their calling card to go bare on the red carpet in gutsy see-through outfits. It’s also a go-to tactic for lesser-known actresses to steal the next morning headlines by flashing their flesh in public. Ok, to be fair, sometimes the ladies might just be suffering an unintentional wardrobe malfunction, and the glare of spotlights and flash bulbs, or a sudden breeze, are to blame.

If you wanna turn heads (and headlines) on the red carpet, all you gotta do is wear is see-through outfit with no underwear underneath! This approach has been getting C and D-listers some badly needed press at least since Rose McGowan strolled into the ’98 VMAs wearing a net and a piece of string. But occasionally even Oscar winning superstars feel the temptation to walk on the wild side and step out in a planned “wardrobe malfunction.” Everyone loves attention!

“She’s enjoying learning opera, but she’s getting very emotional about being so far from home.

Claire Richards on the other hand is getting right into her practice time and insiders say she’s trying to emulate the personality of a high class hooker for this Sunday’s show.

Move over Jedward, there’s a new duo on the block!
Popstar To Operastar competitor Melody Thornton has revealed that their friends on the ITV show have started calling her and X Factor winner Joe McElderry ‘Jelody’.
The ex-Pussycat Dolls singer star says people have been surprised with how she and the 19 year old singer “gel” so well, and Melody even admitted she would consider collaborating musically with Joe.
Asked whether the pop-tastic pair are likely to collaborate in the future, she told Bang Showbiz: “I love Joe. They call us ‘Jelody’ because we gel. We’ve already clicked and we have chemistry so we’ll see, hopefully.”
Melody narrowly avoided being voted off the ITV1 show – which trains pop stars to sing in an operatic style – on Sunday night (05.06.11), finishing in the bottom two alongside Ultravox singer Midge Ure, who was sent home instead.

Midge Ure became the first celebrity to leave ITV’s Popstar To Operastar last night, when he and former Pussycat Dolls star Melody Thornton found themselves in the bottom two after receiving the lowest amount of public votes.
The decision between the two singers was then in the hands of the judging panel and while Rolando and Vanessa Mae voted to save Midge, Simon Callow voted to save Melody, leading to Katherine Jenkins casting the deciding vote, as this week’s head judge.
The Welsh singer voted to save Melody saying:
“The biggest improvement for me, and if we were to give them another song, they could come up with more, is Melody.”
Upon being voted out, Midge Ure said: “I’ll have to go back to my day job. No-one wants to go in the first round but I think I did a reasonable job and I go out with great aplomb.

Midge Ure has become the first celebrity to leave Popstar to Operastar. The Ultravox frontman and Live Aid mastermind exited the competition after being voted into a sing-off with Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton by viewers. After performing 'Questa O Quella' from Verdi's Rigoletto again for the competition's judges, Ure initially appeared to have kept his spot on the ITV show, as panelists Rolando Villazon and Vanessa-Mae gave him their backing. In their comments, Villazon branded Ure as the "performer that felt more comfortable", while Vanessa Mae stated that the 57-year-old "took a risk and really had fun and made me believe". However, their co-judge Simon Callow sided with Thornton after declaring that she "embraced the extra possibilities" of her performance of 'Habanera' from Carmen, leaving (more)...

Things weren’t looking great for Cheryl Baker when she started on Popstar To Operastar this evening.
The former Bucks Fizz singer admitted that she has never been a fan if classical singing or music in the past, she confessed:
“I have always thought that opera is snobby and for toffs. Why does it always have to sung in French, German and Italian?”
However, as we watched her Vt we realised that as she received more and more training, the 57 year old star actually became more comfortable with the genre and when she took to the stage on the ITV live show, we were pleasantly surprised by her voice.
Surprisingly, her vocals were very strong, much more steady than those of her fellow female contestant Melody Thornton and we can see why bosses saved Cheryl’s performance for last….it really was the highlight of the show.

Midge Ure admitted that he was nervous about taking to the Popstar To Operastar satge tonight, because he has never had any classical or porofessional musical training….in fact he can’t even read sheet music.
The Live Aid legend told cameras that he doesn’t want to put on a ‘cartoon opera voice,’ adding ‘I don’t intend to be Pavarotti…because I’m not!’
He had a hard time acting out his song in rehearsals but when he performed on the live ITV show, Midge seemed a little more self assured.
The 57 year old singer took on Questa O Quella from Rigoletto and probably had a less typically classical voice than either Melody Thornton or Joe McElderry who sang before him. He was definitely uncomfortable with the genre of music, however there was something very likeable about him on stage.
Katherine Jenkins: This seems to really suit...

Melody Thornton previously admitted that she is hoping to win this year’s series of Popstar To Operastar based on her electric personality, rather than her vocal skills.
Tonight, as we watched her rehearsal video, we thought she might need to show a bit more spark because her performance didn’t seem to be going well at all.
However, when she took to the stage and sang a piece from Carmen, Melody actually wasn’t half bad. It started well, got a little tired at the end and wasn’t half as good as Joe McElderry’s earlier effort.…but all in all we didn’t think it was too bad.
Katherine Jenkins: I thought you gave a great performance. I didn’t feel that the vocal was as sexy as the performance but I think you did really well and it’s a really good start.

Melody Thornton will make her first appearance on Popstar To Operastar tonight but the singer won’t just be using her vocal skills to win votes from the public.
The former Pussycat Dolls performer told The Daily Star that she thinks reality TV series’ are as much about personality as they are about talent and she intends to use hers, to win people’s support.
Thornton said:
“When it comes to the voting it’s all about personality and getting people on your side.
“I think if I say ‘f**k’ on the air a couple of times it will get people voting for me.
“I can already picture the producers freaking out backstage, saying, ‘Get her off!’ when they hear me swear.”
When asked how she feels about reports that former X Factor winner Joe McElderry is already favourite to win the 2011 series of the ITV show, Melody added:...

Melody Thornton has admitted that she felt bad for Cheryl Cole, when she was axed from the American version of The X Factor recently.
The brunette beauty will take to our screens tonight on ITV’s Popstar To Operastar and while promoting the reality TV series, she spoke on the Cheryl issue, telling The Sun that while the whole furore was ‘unfortunate’ she hopes all the attention helps Cheryl succeed in her home country in the future.
The former Pussycat Dolls singer said:
“The Cheryl Cole situation is definitely unfortunate because I know she was looking forward to working in the States.
“But now a lot of Americans know Cheryl Cole. So hopefully there’s an opportunity for her that arises amid all that. Maybe people will check for her more now.”
