He originally wanted to be a comic book artist. He pitched a cartoon series called "The Breakfast Monkey" to the Cartoon Network, but gave up on art and helped form My Chemical Romance after 9/11 because it made him
realize he had to do something with his life.
Released his own comic book series entitled 'The Umbrella Academy' on September 19, 2007 through Dark Horse Comics.
When he was in the 4th grade, he was the only boy to try out for his
school's production of Peter Pan and he got the role.

He drew the cover of My Chemical Romance's first and second album, "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" and "Three Cheers
for Sweet Revenge".
