When “Trees of Peace,” a drama set during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, surged into the top 10 English-language films on Netflix in June, some may have been amazed that a low-budget, albeit critically acclaimed indie was among the most-watched movies of the week. But executive producer Nicole Avant (“The Black Godfather”) wasn’t among them.
“It was incredible. I was surprised how quickly it got so much attention, but I wasn’t surprised,” Avant tells Variety about learning that the film racked up more than 9.3 million hours viewed in those first few days.
To Avant, the numbers indicated that audiences was ready for and interested in stories like this, despite its heavy subject matter.
“We’ve all felt pretty beaten up for many years, with all this social unrest happening in the United States and everywhere around the world, and just so much negativity,” she explains. “Then here comes this film about strength,...

A ghastly beheading calls Detective Caretti (Fatone) back to Woodhaven police station, where the skeleton crew find themselves in for a long and deadly night as the demon Inkubus (Englund) returns. With a murderous legacy dating back to the middle-ages, Inkubus is hell-bent on destroying the one man who almost captured him thirteen years ago, Detective Gil Diamante (Forsythe).

As it's been doing for years now, the Rock and Shock festival in Worcester, Massachusetts, delighted fans again this past weekend (October 14-16) with three days filled with screenings, celebs, and music. If you are a horror fan on the East Coast, this is your Graceland.
For those unfamiliar with the event, let me lay it out for you. You stroll into the beautiful Dcu Center in Worcester and enter a Mecca of horror. I was personally lucky enough to walk in just as horror author Joe Knetter was hitting his stride during a book reading. Knetter may indeed be the funniest guy at the entire event. Really entertaining!
As you stroll the vendor area, you find absolutely anything related to horror you could possibly want ... custom fitted fangs, theatrical contact lenses, artists, filmmakers, T-shirt booths, website representatives like the guys from Killerreviews.com ... you name it. It's there.

He may not be Freddy anymore but Robert Englund isn’t letting his horror status die one little bit. The actor may have put his knifed glove in storage but has now signed on to an indie horror film called Inkubus. It’s a small film directed by Glenn Ciano and he is part of a cast that includes William Forsyth, Michelle Ray Smith and Joey Fatone who was once part of very successful but absolutely terrible boy band N’ Sync.
Inkubus tells the story of a group of police officers that are part of the final shift at a soon-to-be-torn-down police station. Instead of a quiet last shift eating doughnuts the group are surprised when a demon called Inkubus walks in carrying a severed head. Inkubus begins confessing his many crimes, which date back to thousands of years before.
Filming has already begun in Rhode Island. I must admit that I love this premise.

Every once in a while we learn about a new project only after it's already started filming, and that's the case with Verdi Corrente Productions' Inkubus, which is currently shooting in Rhode Island. But we certainly should be hearing lots more soon as they've just landed Robert Englund as their lead actor.
Also appearing in Inkubus, which was co-written by Carl Dupre and Glenn Ciano and is being directed by Ciano, are William Forsythe, Joey Fatone, Jonathan Silverman, Mike Cerrone, and Michelle Ray Smith.

As more details come in, we'll be sure to pass them along.
