LONDON -- United International Pictures, the overseas distribution unit jointly owned by Universal and Paramount until 2007, said Monday that it has appointed John Horgan managing director of the company as its extensive restructuring picks up pace. Horgan will take the reins of the company beginning Jan. 1 as its two owners, Universal and Paramount, go it alone in key international territories that previously fell under the UIP umbrella. Paramount Pictures is restructuring its London-based international distribution ambitions with UIP president and chief operating officer Andrew Cripps readying himself to run those overseas operations.
