An NFL Scout said of Jimmy: "Hitchcock is a smart gambler and guesser
at corner who doesn't have really good speed and can be beaten deep".
"If he guesses wrong, he really can be exposed". "He's an average NFL
corner at best". "He played much better a couple of years ago than he
played last year".
In February of 2000 Jimmy was signed by The Carolina Panthers after
stints with New England and Minnesota. Former Carolina Coach George
Seifert spoke about Jimmy : "Jimmy Hitchcock has been an effective
player in the NFL for the last five years," and we look forward to him
being a part of our secondary and adding to what should be a very
competitive situation."
During an eight-year NFL career with the Patriots, Vikings and
Panthers, Hitchcock has 19 interceptions for 545 yards and five
touchdowns. He also has 357 career tackles, two sacks, four forced
fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Released by The Detroit Lions and is out of
football.
