From director Kevin Reynolds comes Risen, a faith-based movie with interesting pros and cons...
The trailer for Risen declares it “the most important manhunt in history”, which means they obviously haven’t seen The Fugitive. Let’s tread a bit carefully, though. I’m not about to knock anyone’s religion, but if Risen has a problem, it’s that it takes a stance on the divinity of Christ.
This isn’t a theological or ethical problem; it’s a narrative one. See, Risen bowls along quite agreeably as a sort of police procedural, benefiting from the mystery of whether a man really has risen from the dead or not. But when it makes a decision on this, the intrigue is lost and your interest wanes a bit.
Yes, a police procedural. Battle-scarred Roman tribune Clavius (a beefed-up Joseph Fiennes) is busy shoving his sword through people...

The life, death and resurrection of Jesus has been the subject of many movies and TV series through the years, but Risen is looking to explore a different angle on part that particular story. Check out the first trailer for the film, which features Joseph Fiennes, Tom Felton and Peter Firth. Kevin Reynolds’ film, which he co-wrote with Paul Aiello, follows Roman military tribune Clavius (Fiennes), a firm believer in his empire’s power and someone tasked with removing resistance. But when it appears that Jesus of Nazareth has – in accordance with his followers’ beliefs – risen from the dead after his crucifixion, Pontius Pilate (Firth) assigns Clavius and his aide Lucius (Felton) the task of figuring out the mystery, to avoid an uprising in Jerusalem. It’s certainly a sideways look at the story, and one that hasn’t often been tackled to such a degree. It could prove controversial,...

Machinima has released the 12 episodes from series of "Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist."
Through the coming of age story of Ken & Ryu, we are shown the backstory of some of the game’s most iconic characters, and over the course of the series we will see how the past, present, and future of all of those characters are intertwined, as the battle to become Ansatsuken Master threatens to tear apart another generation of brothers.
"Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist," which is distributed by Content Media and presented by the all-new 2015 Honda Fit, is the brainchild of Joey Ansah (The Bourne Ultimatum, Snow White and the Huntsman). Ansah, who also stars in the series (Akuma), wrote the script with Christian Howard, who reprises his role as Ken Masters from the original fan film. The series also stars Mike Moh as Ryu, Togo Igawa (47 Ronin, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Last Samurai) as Gōtetsu,...

Machinima has released the full trailer for their new web-series, Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist. Street Fighter was one on my favorite games growing up, but it never really seemed to translate very well to film. This might be the best adaptation we ever get because I seriously don't think any studio is going to attempt to make another Street Fighter movie ever again.
The live-action series comes from Ansah, who worked on the fan film Street Fighter: Legacy. He also stars in the series as Akuma, and co-wrote the script with Christian Howard. The series also stars Mike Moh as Ryu, Togo Igawa as Gōtetsu, Akira Koieyama as Gōken, Gaku Space as Gōki, Mark Killeen as Mr. Masters, and Hal Yamanouchi as Senzo.

While we wait for the marketing campaign for Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist to begin in earnest, here's a new still featuring Mr. Master's, played by Mark Killeen (Game of Thrones) and Gouken played by Akira Koieyama (Rush, 47 Ronin). Mr. Masters is meeting Gouken's pupil, Ryu while his son Ken waits in the car. Expect a full marketing blitz for Assassin's Fist to kickoff sometime in January. This week the sisters were doing it for themselves – just don’t tell Cersei! She’ll cut you. Also: someone tell ToriAmosandre that leeches are only acceptable foreplay after the third date. Manners, girl!
Arya (Maisie Williams) awakens looking at a rock. She picks it up (revealing that she is seriously overdue for a mani) and hauls it over to where The Hound (Rory McCann) is sleeping. He tells her to go ahead – but if she doesn’t kill him, he’ll break both her paws.
Turns out The Hound is a great manny! He puts her on the horse with him, tries to feed her, and says that she’s lucky he has no interest in raping and killing her – and even reveals that he saved Sansa from a similar fate. Arya’s all, “Get. Out.” He also tells her that he’s taking her to her mom and brother,...
