Yes, you read correctly, we’re still running with the term “hipstertonica.”
Australian electronic music producer Chet Faker wowed us a couple months ago with “Bend,” which he released alongside the announcement of a few final tour dates. His latest work, “Killswitch,” accompanies the unveiling of another series of Australian dates – but nobody’s suggesting that it doesn’t stand up on its own merit.
“Killswitch” – which sounds absolutely nothing like the metal band Killswitch Engage, in case you were wondering – features the understated vocal musings characteristic of Faker’s soul-infused downtempo style. A folky tune with downplayed electronic music elements, it further contributes to his body of work by being everything that mainstream Edm isn’t.
As for the tour dates, Chet Faker will make stops in Linithgow Ave, Brisbane and Sydney from the end of October to early November. After listening to “Killswitch,” would you like him to pay your city a visit?...

Aside from finding a miniature version of a large blonde friend of mine, last night’s gig in Hobos, Bridgend, had a number of surprises in store – whilst also reminding me; why it sucks to see bands you like who aren’t-as-big-as-they-should-be live, but also why it’s really good too. It was a pretty drab Sunday in all fairness but the gig made up for that, so I’ll not go on and on and just get down to reviewing the gig.
First on were Violet, a youthful six piece from Derby who whilst showing a lot of promise, and a lot of talent in musicianship and vocals, seemed to be a little bit indebted to their influences – especially Dance Gavin Dance. Tim Lambesis, lead singer of the Grammy-nominated heavy metal band As I Lay Dying, has been accused of a murder-for-hire plot after he allegedly attempted to pay an undercover detective to murder his estranged wife, reports Fox 5 in San Diego.
The 32-year-old singer was arrested Tuesday (May 7) on suspicion of solicitation of another to commit murder after detectives received information last Thursday (May 2) that Lambesis had approached someone to kill his wife.
Jan Caldwell, a spokeswoman for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department says the arrest was made because someone was unwilling to let something as sinister as the alleged plot rest. "I heard one of our captains say we prevented a tragedy," says Caldwell.
According to the band's website, they are scheduled to start the Killswitch Engage U.S. headline tour at the end of May.

Killswitch Engage are set to release their new studio album 'Disarm The Descent' on April 2nd via Roadrunner Records. I caught up with guitarist Joel Stroetzel to talk about original singer Jesse Leach rejoining the band after a decade long absence, his musical influences and how the new album turned out to be so fast and heavy. Singer Jesse Leach left Killswitch Engage after the release of the now classic 'Alive or Just Breathing' due to personal reasons over 10 years ago and was replaced by Howard Jones. That lineup existed for several years until recently it was announced that Jones had decided to part ways amicably to deal with his health among other things. Around this time, Leach had returned to the music scene with a project called Times of Grace which also featured his former...

2013 is going to be a great year of music. Guitar music is back on the rise, heavy metal is getting more mainstream and electronic music is reaching a peak never seen before with its influence showing up in almost all genres.
There are some bands out there who have been working below the radar and aren’t yet in the mainstream conciousness, and these are the bands that you should be looking for and supporting.
There is no better experience in this world than seeing a band live for the first time and knowing that they are going to go somewhere, then harking back to the memory that you saw them in a dingy little basement in a dank little club no more than 3 ft away from them while you are awaiting for them to come on stage at your local arena or stadium.

With so many different horror classifications now in existence and so many different aspects to discuss, guest writer Remy Carreiro and I decided to start a weekly column in which we’ll hack and slash our way through a bevy of terrifying topics. Zombies pound against our door, vampires fly overhead, killers lurk around every dimly lit corner, but we’re here to make sense of it all. Wait, is that Bruce Campbell? Nope, drats. This is it then, Nato and Remy’s Last Stand.
But who are we? Since we’re all about horror, what better way to introduce ourselves than with our own eulogies?!
Remy Carreiro:
Though few people knew he was twelve years old due to one of those weird diseases that makes you look older than you are, most knew that Remy had a real penchant for living life. In his short time here on Earth,...
