1991: On Another World, Jake and Paulina had an engagement party.
2002: 20 year old actor Josh Ryan Evans died. In an unusual and pre-taped coincidence, his character, Timmy, died on Passions the same day. NBC issued the follwing statement about Evans: "We are deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of Josh Ryan Evans. He was a truly unique talent with a remarkable spirit. He will be sorely missed by his Passions family and by all of us at NBC."

The soap community took to Twitter last night and this morning in reaction to New York state passing an historic Marriage Equality law. The New York Senate has voted 33-29 to legalize same-sex marriage following easy passage in the House. New York is now the sixth state allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry. Governor Andrew Cuomo will sign the bill and it will go into effect in 30 days. Here's a sample of the reactions below:

Follow Monday night's inspirational 2nd Annual Indie Soap Awards ceremony, the casts and crew of numerous web series mingled at The Ailey Studios before moving on to the after party. What was so fulfilling about putting on this event was seeing the networking happening before and after the show. You will see in many of the photos below actors from different indie soaps posed together, exchanged business cards and offered their support. "Is there anything I can do to help your show?" was a phrase heard multiple times. There were also a number of crossovers being plotted so stay tuned.

When presenting the Supporting Actress award, Anacostia's Anthony Anderson threatened to pass out if Kim Zimmer won.

Veteran cast member Tina Sloan sympathizes with viewers she expects to be devastated by the show's airing of its final episode Friday. But she thinks fans will share her thrill about how the show told its final stories.

"I think the fans are going to be ecstatic," Sloan tells TVGuide.com. Sloan uses the same word to describe her feelings about the marriage of her character, Lillian Raines, who somehow remained single for nearly all of her 26 years on the show.
"She fell in love with Buzz (Justin Deas) two years ago and started having fun," Sloan says. "It was a different note for her; she's always been the caregiver, the generous nurse, the loving mother and grandmother. When she met Buzz, he just made her laugh,...
