The American Black Film Festival (ABFF) has set its lineup of narrative and documentary features for its 28th edition, including Jussie Smollett’s return to acting in “The Lost Holliday,” filmmaker Christine Swanson’s latest drama “Albany Road” and the acclaimed Luther Vandross doc “Never Too Much.”
This year’s festival takes place June 12-16 in Miami Beach, Fla., followed by a virtual segment June 17-24 on ABFF Play. Winners of film festival competition will be announced on June 15, during the “Best of ABFF Awards” hosted by Emmy-nominee Dondré Whitfield.

Australian actress Emma Hamilton is set to star in Fatal Beauty, a Mar Vista Entertainment indie feature written and directed by Joel Soisson. It follows Trevor and Michelle Gustafson (Hamilton) who have what most would think is the typical suburban life. When new neighbors move in next door, tensions between Michelle and Trevor build up, and sinister motives from neighbors turn this quiet neighborhood into a place of chaos, shame, and fear. Matt Walsh, Judith Godrèche to star in coming-of-age tale.
The Orchard has finalised a deal in Cannes for all worldwide rights to Archie Borders’ upcoming Under The Eiffel Tower.
Matt Walsh from Veep, Cesar Award-winner Judith Godrèche and Ryan Eggold lead the cast in the coming-of-age story about a middle-aged bourbon salesman who goes on a wine-fuelled jaunt across the French countryside where he finds love.
The cast includes Ary Abittan, David Wain, Gary Cole, and Michaela Watkins. Borders and David Henry co-wrote the screenplay.
Producers Godrèche, Michael Fitzer, Stacey Parks and Erin Roark have earmarked a July production start on Under The Eiffel Tower and The Orchard is targeting a 2018 release.
The Orchard’s executive vice-president of film and television Paul Davidson, Danielle Digiacomo and Brad Navin serve as executive producers.
