Apple will launch the third generation of the iPad in early 2012, an analyst has claimed. Citi analyst Richard Gardner cited "several sources" as indicating that the iPad 3 will be officially confirmed by Apple next February. Business Insider reports Gardiner as saying that the much-anticipated tablet will sport a screen resolution double that of the current iPad 2. He added that "there do not appear to be any significant technical hurdles remaining" to prevent the launch of the iPad 3. The claim about screen resolution dovetails with previous reports about the iPad 3, indicating that the product will (more)...

New York - Apple could launch the third generation of its iPad as early as February - sooner than expected, the New York Post said, citing reports. The iPad 3 could hit stores on Feb. 23, a day before what would have been founder Steve Jobs’ 57th birthday, it said. Previously, observers have suggested a March or April introduction. The new iPad will feature a so-called “Retina Display” with twice the resolution of current models of the tablet, the Post cited Citigroup analyst Richard Gardner as saying in a research report. The paper mentioned though that some observers have suggested the

Bodog oddsmaker also likes Lady Gaga's chances at Sunday's big show.
By James Montgomery

Earlier this week, we tried our hand at picking the winners for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, but with the big show just around the corner -- airing live from Los Angeles this Sunday at 9 p.m. — we figured it was time to let the pros have their say.
We reached out to the folks at the Bodog Sportsbook to get their take on Sunday's show ... and, as it turns out, much like us, they see it being a big night for Katy Perry. But it definitely won't be a clean sweep for the California Gurl; they also like Justin Bieber's and Lady Gaga's chances too.
So here, for your wagering pleasure, are Bodog's odds for the 2011 VMAs. Remember, it's only considered a "gambling problem" if you lose.

The "American Idol" top 8
Photo: Michael Becker / Fox
Pia Toscano's early exit from "American Idol" has shocked experts, celebs and fans. And, as it turns out, it was also a shock to a group of folks who don't get shocked all that often: oddsmakers.
It seems that, in the wake of Toscano's elimination, the brain trust at Bodog's sportsbook has been forced to rejigger their odds. For weeks, they slowly moved her up the list of likely "Idol" winners — she originally opened as a 14/1 long shot, but heading into Wednesday night's show, she was a 2/1 favorite to take home the crown — and now that she's out, they've anointed Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina as the new co-favorites.
Bodog gives both singers 5/2 odds at winning "Idol," followed by James Durbin at 4/1. Haley Reinhart gets 15/2 odds,...

The 53rd annual Grammy Awards air Sunday from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and while most will be tuning in to see if Eminem can capitalize on his industry-leading 10 nominations or catch Lady Gaga performing "Born This Way" for the first time, we'll be watching to see how all our bets panned out.
See, we love gambling nearly as much as we love the Grammys (and that's a lot), and, with the big show just a few days away, we figured it was time to place our bets in the Big Four categories: Album, Record and Song of the Year, plus Best New Artist. And to help insure our wagering success, we've once again gone to two of the best oddsmakers in the universe — Ladbrokes and Bodog — to get their take on music's biggest night.

So how did our oddsmaker fare with his predictions for who would take home the top prizes for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards? Well, if you're a betting man (or woman), he wasn't too shabby.
Before the VMAs went down Sunday night, MTV News chatted with Richard Gardner, sportsbook manager for Bodog.com, and asked him to weigh in on which musicians would dominate at the awards show. Gardner guessed every major award correctly except one. We're impressed! Let's review his thoughts and reveal the actual outcomes.
Best Female Video

Katy Perry (featuring Snoop Dogg), "California Gurls": 7/2

• James Montgomery previews Sunday's Grammys and reports that the betting world is touting Taylor Swift as the favorite to win. "Nick Weinberg, Ladbrokes' chief sports, politics and novelty oddsmaker, says, 'Beyoncé's odds are probably a bit shorter than they should be. Because she's a name, she can release a terrible album, and it would be nominated for an award. But Taylor Swift is the selection. All things being equal, she should win it. Quite an impressive record, which is why we made it our favorite.'" And Bodog.com sportsbook manager Richard Gardner agrees, "This Year's Grammy Awards could be a clean sweep in the three main categories as Taylor Swift is the favorite to win...

The 52nd annual Grammy Awards air Sunday from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and it's sure to be a star-packed night. Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Kanye West and Jay-z lead the nominees, and what we're most looking forward to is some good old-fashioned Grammy wagering.
We love gambling. Some people might even say we're addicted to it. And while we can totally quit whenever we want, the Grammys are perhaps the most excellent betting event of the year. Wagering on them is basically like wagering on which way the wind will blow or what color socks that dude in the cubicle next to you will wear tomorrow: The results are almost completely random, which really spices things up.
Still, there are those out there...
