Even though we were promised no major crossover miniseries for at least 18 months after the conclusion of Secret Empire, that doesn’t mean there won’t be other storylines that’ll shake the Marvel Universe to its core. In fact, the House of Ideas fully intends on starting 2018 with a bang, thanks in no small part to Avengers: No Surrender.
Now, if this seems confusing to you at all, know that the difference between No Surrender and something like, say, Civil War II or Secret Wars is that this particular arc won’t be told throughout the course of a limited series. Instead, it’ll be told in the pages of Avengers, and will also include the Uncanny Avengers and U.S.Avengers.
From that, you were probably able to deduce that those three unique teams – along with Voyager, “the greatest Avenger you’ve never heard of” – will be joining...

If anything, September will be an important month for Marvel because, if all goes according to plan, they’ll be just about ready to put their currently in progress crossover event, Secret Empire, behind them and poised to move forward with whatever their next major initiative may be. And while we haven’t been in contact with any flies on the walls over at the House of Ideas, we’re pretty sure the Marvel Legacy one-shot is the vanguard.
First, let’s talk a bit about Secret Empire because that seems like the logical thing to do. Not long ago, it was revealed that a tenth issue would be added to the limited series, something not unheard of when it comes to major events – especially those from Marvel. And although this would seem like a definitive end to the story, there where rumors swirling that an eleventh wasn’t out of the question.
From what we can tell, that’s not going to happen, but an epilogue of sorts in Secret Empire Omega #1 has been announced. Upon examining the solicitation below, it quickly becomes apparent that this will likely be an essential read given that it retains the very same creative team that worked on the mainline series itself.

Secret Empire Aftermath!
• Hydra has fallen, but the world is still not secure! As the heroes of the Marvel Universe stir from the wreckage of the battlefield, the inevitable rebuilding must begin.
• However, one question hangs in the air over the proceedings: What redemption can there be for Captain America?
40 Pgs./Rated T+ …$4.99
Should that meet its targeted September release – which may be a feat, especially when you consider that Secret Empire #6 has been delayed until July 19 – that’ll smoothly transition into the all important Marvel Legacy #1 (solicitation below). So, if the publisher does allow it to ship before Secret Empire concludes, we can only hope that it doesn’t completely spoil the crossover’s ending. But, then again, let’s not forget this is the same lot that released Who Will Wield The Shield? before Captain America: Reborn wrapped.

Well, it looks like you’ll have to wait slightly longer before getting your hands on one of those glow in the dark Cosmic Cubes because the Secret Empire shipping schedule has been slightly amended. You see, the sixth issue to make up Marvel’s currently unfolding major event has undergone some changes, which we’ll get into right now.
The first we’ll discuss is that of a higher page count, which will, of course, increase the price point of the issue in question. Having inflated from 40 pages to 48, expect to pay $4.99 as opposed to $3.99 for this baby when it hits stands. Sure, one dollar doesn’t seem like much, but comic book collectors often pick up more than one title each week and, believe me, it adds up quickly. As such, some True Believers are already expressing their displeasure with the decision and have also accused those behind...

Perhaps due to the success of last week’s launch parties, Marvel has decided to offer True Believers more in the way of promotional goodies later this summer to mark the arrival of Secret Empire #6. This one seems like something that collectors will really want to get their hands on because, as fate would have it, glow in the dark Cosmic Cubes are set to hit comic shops, with a “Reality warping capabilities not included” disclaimer attached.
Having already dabbled in the glow in the dark realm before with Ghost Rider #15‘s cover, it seems natural that this bit of flair be provided for replicas of the Cosmic Cube, which, long story short, is pretty much the reason why Steve Rogers aligned with Hydra in the first place.
According to Bleeding Cool, retailers will have to meet the following criteria in order to qualify for certain quantities of the swag:...

Once Marvel finally divulged the first details regarding its next major crossover event, Secret Empire, one of the first things we learned was that it would kick off with a special zero issue. This practice isn’t uncommon, as preludes such as these often catch up lapsed readers before the main narrative commences. But, given the interiors included in the gallery at the top, it looks like even those who are up to date on all things Marvel shouldn’t skip this.
Although the preview happens to be unlettered, it appears writer Nick Spencer will waste no time in getting things off to a, shall we say, explosive start. Furthermore, it looks like many A-list heroes will make their presence felt as Hydra begins moving its first chess pieces.
Story aside, you have to admit it...

Yesterday, we were fortunate enough to get more details concerning the first two issues of Marvel’s next major crossover event, Secret Empire, via some official plot synopses. Since then, even more bits of information have come to light now that the rest of the publisher’s May solicits have found their way online.
Surprisingly enough, a third installment is also set to arrive in May, causing us to believe that this 9-issue series will likely wrap by late summer or early fall and, dare we say, pave the way for yet another line wide relaunch.
Something else that caught our attention was that artist Andrea Sorrentino will be joining writer Nick Spencer for the second consecutive issue, which will see the fight get a little more cosmic as none other than Captain Marvel is set to step up in an effort to combat the Chitauri threat.

There’s no denying that Marvel’s upcoming crossover event, Secret Empire, has sparked a veritable brushfire of conversation on message boards, social media and in comic shops alike. Simply put, when Captain America goes bad guy and the rest of the Marvel Universe is forced to set him straight, it’s going to get some attention.
One thing that certainly got people talking was the recent reveal of Secret Empire #0’s standard cover by Mark Brooks that merely hinted at a Hydra-themed costume for Steve Rogers. But now, thanks to ComicBook.com, we’ve been granted a glimpse at John Tyler Christopher’s action figure variant cover that gives a full body look at what’s likely the complete ensemble.

But now, thanks to ComicBook.com, we’ve been granted a glimpse at John Tyler Christopher’s action figure variant cover that gives a full body look at what’s likely the complete ensemble.

I still don't like the fact that Captain America was revealed to really be a Hydra agent in the Marvel Comics universe. Captain America was always a favorite character of mine so I think this whole new direction with him is bullshit.
Anyway, the cover for Secret Empire #0 has been released and it teases the characters Hydra suit. The cover was created by Mark Brooks, and it features Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, standing in a demolished, fiery battle zone. As you can see, his costume is torn at the chest revealing the Hydra insignia with what looks like a new Hydra-style costume.
Secret Empire is the big event that Marvel Comics has been leading up to, and Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said:

Seeing as how Marvel finally spilled some beans concerning the highly anticipated event series Secret Empire late last week, expect more details to slowly trickle in before the book officially kicks off this April.
Upon being officially announced, the cover art for Secret Empire #1 was indeed revealed, but some of us were left scratching our heads when it came to issue #0, which will obviously ship first. Well, fear not, because the House of Ideas have thankfully pulled back the curtain on Mark Brooks’ jaw-dropping cover art that hints at Captain America’s new Hydra threads. Furthermore, it’s since been disclosed that Daniel Acuna will be providing interiors for the prologue issue.
Knowing how high the stakes are in this book, Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso had this to say:

Marvel's "Secret Empire", available May 2017, is written by Nick Spencer and illustrated by Steve McNiven, Andrea Sorrentino, Daniel Acuña, and Leinil Francis Yu, with a cover by Mark Brooks, as 'Steve Rogers' aka 'Captain America' brings about a 'Hydra' revolution during "...the worst day in the 'Marvel Universe'...":
"His plans and Hydra's plans will have begun to unfurl," said Marvel about the story. "We are done with the covert portion, the buildup portion of the program. 'Secret Empire' is the pyrotechnics, the big Michael Bay blockbuster, with huge colossal struggles and battles across the 'Marvel Universe', with all of our key characters and players taking on a big role. "We'll definitely see an impact on our new, younger generation of heroes, a huge turn for them, a 'Watergate' moment for them.

New York Comic Con has once again rushed by in a giant, fun, crazy blur, and although I didn’t get to nearly all the things I was hoping to, I did have a rockin’ time and see some really cool things I can share.
The first of these were a few great panels I landed seats for, including, as is my tradition, the Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles panel. If you don’t know I love the current Tmnt, then what are you, new here? But seriously, I love it. And each panel I have gone to brings something new and different.
This panel (with Andrea Romano (voice director), Eric Bauza (Tiger Claw), Kevin Michael Richardson (The Shredder), Greg Cipes (Mikey), Rob Paulsen (Donnie), and Ciro Nieli (Executive Producer)) was particularly fun, because one of the things they did was a live read of episode #420, “The Super Shredder,” which...

The New York Comic Con is upon us once again, and I can’t wait. This year, as usual, I have a massive list of things I want to see, people I want to talk to, and, of course, merchandise I want to take a gander at (not to buy it, of course. Oh no no no! Certainly not, considering I have way too many collectibles already. I’m just going to look. Really. Just…you know, a little bit. No buying here, nosiree…um). There are also a few cool parties floating around…and you know how I love a good party.
Everyone who goes to Nycc has their own unique wish list of what they want to experience while there. But in case you aren’t sure what you want to see first, here are some of the things I’m most looking forward to. Maybe they’ll appeal to you,...

Now I may have been critical in the past that Marvel is milking Star Wars titles like an ex member of the O.C who can’t find work now but admittedly the fan in me is excited about the new Han Solo title debuting this summer from Marvel comics. Now I was a big fan of expanded universe novels and some of my favorites were some of the ones featuring Han Solo. The guy had a ton of adventures before finding a punk kid and scruffy old man in Mos Eisley. Well this June artist Mark Brooks and writer Majorie Liu will helm the title staring our favorite scruffy looking nerf herder. The description for the series reads.

Attention Star Wars and Marvel fans! After already seeing three comic series based on some of our favorite Star Wars characters — Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and Lando — Marvel is now going to release yet another five-issue comic book miniseries. The newest one will focus on Han Solo. The story takes place between the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
"This is a Han Solo who doesn't quite know who he is anymore. He doesn't think about politics, and suddenly he's thrust into this life-or-death struggle for beliefs he didn't even know he cared about - and it has changed him. He doesn't want to believe that change, but he has. Han's been dreaming of entering this thing for his entire life. He finally gets the chance, except there's a catch: Leia thinks there are spies in the Rebellion, and she doesn't dare...

Marvel Entertainment has announced a five-part Han Solo comic book series which is set to launch this summer.
Marjorie Liu ("Monstress") penned the series which boasts art by Mark Brooks. Set between the original 1977 film and "The Empire Strikes Back," the story will deal with the character coming to terms with being part of the Rebel Alliance.
Talking about the series, Liu tells Heat Vision that the story is comparable to a space-set "Cannonball Run":
"It finally came together in the story where there's this infamous starship race. It's the pilot dream race. Everyone wants to be in it, everyone dreams of winning it. The race is sort of a cover that will allow him to go on this mission for [Leia], but at the same time, even though the race isn't a priority, it's a real struggle for him because he knows he needs to focus, but he's on the race of a lifetime.

Ant-Man's new series has been fantastic, with Scott Lang moving to Miami and setting up his own security firm in which he's been joined by reformed villain Grizzly. Thankfully, the comic will return after the events of Secret Wars, but has this fan-favourite good guy really gone bad? Talking to Hero Complex, writer Nick Spencer had this to say about the intriguing promo image by Mark Brooks. "We’re hinting at a major development for Scott. Scott is an ex-con, he’s a guy with a criminal past. This teaser hints that he may not be quite as reformed as we might have thought. This is our first big hint that Scott’s going to find himself back in his old world, back in a criminal life." That's very interesting, but could Scott be faking his turn to the dark side?
