“I didn’t think I was going to get that far,” admits Thelma Houston, the legendary Grammy-winning diva who placed third on “The Masked Singer” as Clock. “There have been some other divas out there that we know well that didn’t get quite that far, so I said, ‘Well, as long as I can do as good as they did that would be great.’ To go this far was just a surprise to me. It was one of the most challenging things I have ever done, trust and believe.”
The 81-year old revealed in one of her clue packages that she skipped the 1978 Grammy Awards because she never though she’d win for her classic Motown hit “Don’t Leave Me This Way.” She explains, “Two years prior to that I had been nominated for a Grammy before. When Aretha [Franklin] is on there you can just forget about winning.

After two weeks of being on “The Masked Singer” chopping block, Sisqó is finally gone-guh-gone-gone-gone.
I think I’ll sing it again: Sisqó’s been dumped like a truck, truck, truck. “The Masked Singer” has removed his butt, butt, butt. Let me see (who sang) that song!
That’s right, “Thong Song” superstar Sisqó on Wednesday became the latest celebrity to be unmasked on “The Masked Singer,” revealed to be the Lizard.
For Sisqó as the Lizard, several of the panelists had figured it out. Robin Thicke and Rita Ora knew it was Sisqó. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg picked Ray J. Ken Jeong said it was Michael Bivins.
Lizard was voted out after being one of the two lowest vote-getters in the two previous episodes.

Elvis Presley‘s “A Little Less Conversation” was written by a country star. The star revealed what the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll wanted from the song. While “A Little Less Conversation” is one of Elvis’ most famous songs today, it was meant for another singer. Notably, the tune became a hit in the 1960s and again in the 2000s.

Over a funky beat, Whack has fun describing her morning ritual on “Shower Song,” extolling the virtues of exfoliation and not letting distractions take away from the underrated restorative powers of channeling Whitney, Britney, Aretha, and Alicia. “I sound great when I’m singing in the shower,” she sings. “Soap and water give me powers.”

World Wide Whack will reveal Whack’s latest alter ego, which has been described in a press release as “both untouchable and vulnerable, superhuman, and painfully human.” The record is out March 15th via Interscope Records and will be released on four vinyl variants. Pre-orders are ongoing.

Former player John McEnroe called Carlos Alcaraz 'one in a billion' in a recent interview and it does truly look like that.
The Atp Rankings have hundreds of players on them, and while most of them are very good at tennis, only a selected few ever reach the status that Alcaraz has. It simply doesn't happen because being a good tennis player requires a dose of natural talent, a tremendous work ethic, and a bit of luck.
In the same way, most people can't sing as well as Whitney, Etta, and Aretha; most people also can't swing the racquet as well as Carlos, Rafa, Novak, or Roger. It just won't happen, and nobody knows it better than John McEnroe, who is one of those who swung the racquet pretty well.
He looked back on his career in a recent interview, admitting how improbable it is to become as great as he became at tennis.

Monday’s episode of The Voice not only served up the last of Season 24’s Battles, it threw out the first of the three-way Knockouts. The rules are mostly the same as in Season 22: John Legend, Gwen Stefani, Niall Horan and Reba McEntire group their team members in threes to try to out-sing one another. The coach then picks a winner, and the two losers are available to be saved by their coach or stolen by an opponent. Or — and this is new — each of the coaches can use their Supersave to keep an additional contestant in the competition...

The second David Bowie World Fan Convention hit New York in June, featuring some of David Bowie’s closest collaborators in music, film, and fashion. Vocalist, songwriter, model, and actor Ava Cherry sang on some of Bowie’s most transformative records, and changed his outlook on music, fashion, and nightlife. From 1974 to 1978, Cherry was one-third of Bowie’s vocal backing trio, appearing onstage, in the studio, and on all TV appearances. Cherry and Bowie’s relationship was even closer than that, beginning as lovers, and enduring as friends.
According to the autobiography All That Glitters, written by Cherry and Lisa Torem, Ava was raised in Chicago, taking a job at Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion when she was 17 years old, before moving to New York and working at the nightclub Genesis. This is where she met Bowie, who asked her to provide backing vocals on an upcoming tour in Japan.

Beyoncé’s back-to-back nights at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, this past weekend were two of the most star-studded shows of the Renaissance tour thus far. Greta Gerwig and America Ferrera watched the show from risers, while singer and songwriter Kehlani was close enough to the stage to snap a selfie with Beyoncé. Laverne Cox attended both nights and penned a heartfelt, revelatory caption about how the concert made her feel born again. Also in the audience was Madonna, who received a shoutout from one queen to another.

A jury has decided that the 2014 version of Aretha Franklin’s will should stand in an ongoing battle about her estate.
When Aretha died, it was believed that she did not have a will, which would result in her assets being equally divided between her four children, Kecalf Cunningham, Clarence Franklin, Edward Franklin and Teddy Richards.
Franklin’s niece discovered a will written by Aretha hidden in a spiral notebook under a cushion of her sofa that she signed. She additionally included the statement, “Being of sound mind, I write my will and testimony.” This will states that her three sons, Cunningham, Edward and Richards, would split her bank funds and royalties from her music. Her last son, Cunningham, would inherit more than his other siblings, as he would receive her mansion where she lived, which is valued at $1.2 million, and all her cars.
Months after her death, a second will was located.

‘The Perfect Find’ Review: Gabrielle Union and Keith Powers Charm in Fashion-Forward Netflix Swooner
Fashionista Jenna Jones (Gabrielle Union) took quite the tumble from her position in New York’s world of style. In “The Perfect Find” — Netflix’s visually vibrant, cinema-loving, if not quite perfect, rom-com — her professional and romantic plummet is documented in opening credits that cleverly use an animated collage to relate her story.
So, when we meet Jenna in person ,she’s without a job, and her man (D.B. Woodside) of 10 years has moved on … or so it seems. The 40-year-old is sporting baggy sweats, and not because she’s headed to the gym. She’s been living in her parents’ home licking her wounds, for a year, when her mother calls her out on it. The scene between mother (Janet Hubert) and grown-ass daughter is amusing and promising. As are the musical and visual choices director Numa Perrier makes that evoke Old Hollywood in a film with characters decidedly not Old Hollywood.

Hollywood pop-music biopics tend to be about artists who go back a long way. “Bohemian Rhapsody” felt rooted in a fresher, less done-to-death-by-biopics era — though when the Freddie Mercury drama came out, its title song was already 43 years old. “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” which tells the exultant and tragic story of Whitney Houston, feels different. Houston’s first album was released in 1985, and maybe because her triumphs and travails were chronicled, right as they were happening, by a newly emerging entertainment-media-gossip complex, the film feels like it’s telling a story that never went away. Yet as you watch, you may realize how much there is to the story you didn’t know, and how transporting it is. “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” is the kind of lavishly impassioned all-stops-out biopic you either give into or you don’t — and if you do, you may find yourself getting so emotional,...

When “Fire Island” star Matt Rogers was putting together his new Showtime holiday special, “Matt Rogers: Have You Heard of Christmas?,” he sent an email to Mariah Carey inviting her to be on the show.

What are Whitney Houston‘s very best songs? Click on the gallery above to scroll through 35 of her greatest hits and hidden gems. Does your favorite make the cut? And do you agree with our pick for number one?
Houston is one of the most iconic and influential singers in pop music history. Born into a family with deep gospel roots, she began strict vocal lessons from her Grammy-winning mother, Cissy Houston, at age 13. Cissy came from the popular gospel group The Drinkard Singers before forming the highly sought after crew of background vocalists called The Sweet Inspirations. Cissy’s voice can be heard on hundreds of songs for artists such as Elvis Presley, Dusty Springfield, Van Morrison and Luther Vandross. Most notably, Cissy provides the soaring soprano backing Aretha Franklin in the Queen of Soul’s classic hit, “Ain’t No Way.”
Whitney was in the studio the day Aretha recorded that track.

The FBI had a 270-page file on the late music icon Aretha Franklin after spying on her for 40 years, an investigation from Rolling Stone has found. The Queen of Soul, who died of cancer in August 2018, aged 76, was reportedly the target of surveillance, subjected to false phone calls and had her inner circle infiltrated by spies, according to documents obtained by Rolling Stone from the organisation, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
According to the outlet, the lengthy file is filled with phrases such as “Black extremists,” “pro-communist,” “hate America,” “radical,” “racial violence,” and “militant Black power” and was filled with suspicion about the singer, her work, and the activists and entertainers she spent time with.
The FBI regularly tracked the ‘Respect’ singer’s addresses and phone numbers and seemed to be particularly interested in her civil rights work and association with the likes of Martin Luther King Jr. and Angela Davis.

A sprig of roaring power emo with your grime, madam? Side of jazz soul? Dash of playlist indie? The modern Reading Festival is an eclectic beast. For the first 45 or so years since one of the oldest existing popular music festivals settled in Reading, through periods of prog, hard rock, metal and indie dominance, it acted as the place that anyone who wasn’t interested in pop music could make their summer second home. Since around 2018, though, it’s faced an identity crisis. What do you do when your core niche – rock music – no longer sells the tickets you have to shift?
Reading & Leeds’s answer has been an attempt to become all festivals to all people – well, all glitter-smothered students clothed largely in netting. The 2022 festival, as a result, resembles three different festivals for the price of one. Friday is akin to a condensed Wireless, headed by rap and grime but accepting all-comers.

Not to be confused with Guillermo Del Toro’s version, which will 100-percent give you nightmares, Disney+ has released the official trailer for its own Pinocchio update — which, let’s be real, could very well also give you nightmares.(Man-eating whales? Kids turning into donkeys? Judgmental talking crickets? Chilling!)
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, this live-action/CGI remake stars Tom Hanks (every movie ever) as Geppetto, the lonely Italian woodcarver whose sole wish is to have a son. His wish comes true, albeit not the way he imagines, when Cynthia Erivo (Genius: Aretha) arrives on the scene as the mysterious Blue Fairy,...

The content available on most streaming services changes regularly, and Hulu is no exception. As such, having a handy guide for what to watch each month can be an invaluable resource. And so, without further ado, we present to you the 60 best movies on Hulu right now.
What can you expect from the Hulu catalog specifically? Well, for one, plenty of 20th Century productions, as well as films made under its specialty label, Searchlight Pictures. Ever since Disney bought Fox (which also gave the Mouse House a controlling share of Hulu), the streaming service has been the exclusive streaming destination for all 20th Century films. Hulu also has a pretty strong, albeit constantly revolving, selection of films from other studios, so there's plenty of good stuff to choose from. Given that HBO Max seems to be going through some turbulent times, Hulu currently seems to be the go-to place for...

Beyoncé and Madonna have teamed up for a royal collaboration, “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix).” The latest remix of Beyoncé’s Renaissance single arrived on Friday, just in time to get the weekend party started.
The percolating remix interpolates Madonna’s “Vogue” with Beyoncé flipping the script for the iconic spoke-sung section of the 1990 song, where the Material Girl lists Hollywood stars from the Golden Age. In Bey’s take, she pays homage to both current and past influential Black women who have been game-changers for the culture — from Aaliyah,...
