Back in 2019, the world saw the first season of The Morning Show, following the aftermath of the allegations of sexual misconduct behind a network broadcast morning news program. Since then it has become one of Apple TV’s trademark shows.
However, in the same year, a movie that is quite reminiscent of this series was released. Even though it received significantly less hype, it’s still worth a watch and our attention to the depicted events. Luckily, it’ll be added to Prime’s catalog tomorrow, on May 25.
The plot of this drama revolves around three ambitious women, who work at one of America's most powerful news networks, Fox News. While their broadcasts contain lots of provocative headlines, their names are about to become headlines themselves.
The point is that the women join efforts to expose the channel’s CEO, their professional “father” who made them famous, for sexual harassment...

“The gatekeepers are gone,” Colin Jost told a roomful of journalists at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 27, before pivoting to the punchline: “Did you know that 90 percent of people now get their news exclusively from social media? And that must be true because I saw it in a random guy’s TikTok.”
For those (ever fewer) media gatekeepers who have major reach, trust is currency. And there’s still a halo effect for those TV stars with broadest viewership — i.e., network TV hosts — particularly evening and morning show anchors for NBC and ABC, a new THR/Morning Consult poll shows. The survey, conducted May 4-5 among a sample of 2,239 U.S. adults, asked opinions about 40-plus major TV news stars, as well as surveyed trends about America’s fractured media diet during a presidential campaign year.

Megyn Kelly has become quite a controversial figure over the years. However, there is no denying that she played an important role in the Fox News scandal against the founder, Roger Ailes, during the MeToo movement. This was perfectly depicted in Charlize Theron’s 2019 film, Bombshell. The film was an exceptional success, even winning an Academy Award, and the journalist seemed to agree with this.

However, this sentiment seems to have changed over the years. Not because of the film and its story, but because of something the actress said during the press tour. Kelly recently spoke out about a comment Theron made about her assault that made her very upset.

Few would argue against the idea that Cate Blanchett is one of the great actresses of her generation. The sheer versatility she has displayed in her performances on film has especially made her one of the world’s most sought-after screen stars over the past three decades. For 2022, she received her eighth career Oscar nomination for “Tar.”
In 2021, in the span of just a few weeks, she displayed her signature multi-talent: For Adam McKay’s “Don’t Look Up,” Blanchett turned herself into a cable news host in the vein of Megyn Kelly or Mika Brzezinski to score major laughs in the biting comedy; for Guillermo del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley,” Blanchett transformed into a 1940s femme fatale who gets one over on an overconfident con man (Bradley Cooper).
Blanchett has two Academy Awards wins for “The Aviator” (2004) and “Blue Jasmine” (2013), prevailing as a supporting actress the first time and then as a lead.

Arachnophobia has been labeled a 90s classic in the eyes of horror fans. Not only does it have a perfect execution of spine-chilling horror, but it also manages to balance it with excellent comedy. Considering just how iconic the film was, many were concerned when it was announced that the film would be getting a remake.

However, since James Wan will be heading the project, their worries have been put at ease. The director has an impressive track record with horror, having been behind projects like The Conjuring series, The Nun films, Annabelle, and Saw.
Reminiscing back to the original movie, Jeff Daniels, who played the role of Dr. Ross Jennings, talked about his experience working on the original film.

In all of the exorbitant fallout from Michael Kassan’s exit from UTA earlier this month even the lawyers are getting shrapnel now.
Following a Deadline article of March 25 in which the agency’s outside counsel Bryan Freeman called the ex-MediaLink CEO a “pathological liar,” Kassan is now aiming his ire at the Hollywood heavyweight attorney to the tune of $125 million. If the sum sounds familiar, it’s because it is the exact amount that UTA bought strategic advisory firm MediaLink for in a handshake deal back in December 2021.

Ronna McDaniel is no doubt going to create a lot of sound and fury over at NBC News. Shakespeare could tell you what it’s all going to signify.
NBC News surprised the nation’s legions of news critics Friday when it unveiled a new pact with McDaniel, most recently the chair of the Republican National Committee, and, during that time, a denier of the validity of the 2020 presidential election and a frequent fault-finder when it comes to U.S. media. One of the outlets McDaniel has frequently held up for opprobrium is left-leaning MSNBC, part of NBCUniversal’s news operations.

The Victorian era horror comedy “Poor Things” is set to face off against the atomic age thriller “Oppenheimer” in 10 different categories at the upcoming Academy Awards. While the latter is looking increasingly likely to sweep many of the top races, some of the technical fields are very much at play. And “Poor Things” has a great shot at least a couple of Oscar fortunes.
One place where “Oppenheimer” is not expected to dominate is Best Makeup and Hairstyling. And that presents an opportunity for “Poor Things” to pick up an extra trophy. And I believe that it most likely will. Here are five reasons why “Poor Things” will win the Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

Royalists remain abuzz about the launch of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s fourth website in five years. However, their newest social media page hides a big secret.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new webpage may have defied Queen Elizabeth’s wishes
In an interview with journalist Megyn Kelly, Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan revealed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have defied the late Queen Elizabeth’s wishes while launching their new website. While the couple’s fourth rebrand attempt appears to move them into the future, it contains a link to their past.
Callahan said, “I’m trying to figure it out. It’s the rebrand, of a rebrand, of a rebrand.”
She continued, “The link is Sussex.com. It also links to Sussexroyal.com, which the queen told them to stop using immediately when she was still alive.”
In 2020, Queen Elizabeth disapproved of the couple using the Sussex Royal brand.

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has found himself at the center of controversy again due to his recent visit to Moscow and an off-the-cuff conversation he had with a Russian journalist.
Carlson is in the city for his highly anticipated interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The interview, confirmed by the Kremlin and Russian state news agency Tass, will be the first with an American journalist since 2021 and is expected to be released once it is prepared.
In a brief clip filmed in a parking lot, Carlson stated, “I really do like [Moscow], I’m not just saying that. Why do I feel like I’m betraying my country when I’m saying that? I’m not, I love America.”
Carlson’s praise for Moscow has drawn criticism from journalists and media organizations.

Erin Moriarty, star of the popular Prime Video television series, The Boys, fired back at former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly after she accused her of getting major plastic surgery.
Moriarty, who plays the character of Starlight in the show, posted an Instagram post that denied Kelly’s comments from a recent episode of The Megyn Kelly Show from January 17. She called Kelly’s statements “disgustingly false” and referred to them as an act of “bullying.”
“This is something I truly never anticipated writing,” she stated in her post. “We’re all subject to levels of bullying throughout our lives but I am horrified, and I felt that I deserved to take a second to address these things… To receive a message about a disgustingly false, counterproductive to the degree of being ironically misogynistic video of Megyn Kelly commenting on the manner — to learn the widespread nature of this has left me horrified.

Depending on whom you ask, Don Lemon is planting his feet firmly in media’s next frontier. Or its last one.
The former CNN star anchor is the latest in a parade of onetime TV-news personnel to dip their toes into the entrepreneurial waters of digital and social media. He announced in early January that he would launch “The Don Lemon Show” on X, part of a bid to build a broader media outlet. “Don is extremely passionate about launching his own media company,” says Oren Rosenbaum, partner and head of audio at UTA, which represented Lemon in his deal with the social-media giant. “His first priority is the show, and as that becomes more and more successful, he will build a business around that and become a platform for other voices.”
Lemon isn’t alone. Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News opinion host, is using X for similar goals.

Annette Bening is an actor’s actor. Like many of the greats before her, she began her career in the theatre. Through the 80s, she quietly compiled a library of rich, complex characters before making her Tony-nominated broadway debut in 1987’s “Coastal Disturbances.”
Bening then made her well deserved transition over to Hollywood with John Hughes’ “The Great Outdoors.” The film didn’t perform as well as hoped, nor did Milos Forman’s “Valmont” which was released the following year, but they both paved the way for Bening’s eventual Oscar-nominated breakout as Myra Langtry in Stephen Frears’ “The Grifters.”
She got particularly close to Oscar gold with “American Beauty” in 2000. Annette bagged the BAFTA and SAG award for her iconic portrayal of the colourfully volatile wife-in-crisis, Carolyn Burnham. She lost to Hilary Swank (“Boys Don’t Cry”) though, who had edged her out at the Globes.

Media-wise, the 2024 presidential election crosses the official starting line with debate season, and this cycle the contenders on the Republican side, including a multiple-indicted former Potus, are looking to beat Democrat Joe Biden and take over the White House. But first they have to take on one another.
For the candidates, debates are a way to score points against a rival, stand out from the field or define a campaign that’s heretofore been rudderless.

Megyn Kelly gave her best impersonation of MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell while mocking his comments about how GOP voters overwhelmingly agree with Donald Trump’s claims that migrants from the southern border are “poisoning” the country.
During their discussion of Trump’s Iowa Republican caucus win on Kelly’s podcast “The Megyn Kelly Show,” video of which you can watch above, the host and her co-hosts Stu Burguiere and Dave Marcus also chatted about Trump’s “poisoning” remarks, which he initially made during a rally in New Hampshire back in December.

Girl, who asked you? Megyn Kelly apparently had thoughts about Taylor Swift not enjoying Jo Koy’s joke at the Golden Globes Sunday, with her guest on the show describing Swift’s reaction as a “death glare.”
On the show, Kelly replayed the clip of Koy’s joke, where he said, “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.”
In the clip, Swift gave a straight face, pursed her lips, and took a sip from her glass of wine.

Megyn Kelly thinks Taylor Swift “made the wrong move” in the way she responded to Jo Koy’s joke about her and the NFL at Sunday night’s Golden Globes.
Kelly acknowledged Koy’s bravery in accepting the gig 10 days before the telecast, saying she would refuse if she was asked within two weeks of the ceremony.
“One of the jokes that is getting a lot of attention is he made a joke about Taylor Swift, which was fine. I actually thought he was spot on with the commentary,” Kelly said. “She did not appreciate it… Can’t she just like show that she’s a good sport… I think she made the wrong move.”
The host and comedian acknowledged that the joke didn’t land how it was supposed to.
Koy’s joke compared the cutaways during NFL broadcasts when Swift attends the Kansas City Chiefs games to those used at the Golden Globes.

Viewership for the fourth Republican debate fell since the last event, drawing more than 4 million for Nexstar’s NewsNation and its simulcast on The CW.
But it was a record night for NewsNation, which drew 1.6 million viewers for its debate coverage, the largest audience in its history, according to Nielsen’s early fast national numbers. Another 2.5 million watched the simulcast on The CW, giving it its most watched program since 2018. In the 25-54 demo, NewsNation drew more than 350,000 viewers and The CW drew nearly 500,000.
That said, the debate audience was down from the last event in November, continuing a trend since the first GOP gathering. Some 7.51 million watched the Nov. 8 debate across NBC News and its streaming and digital platforms. That debate averaged 6.86 million viewers on NBC alone.
The first Republican debate in August, hosted by Fox News, drew 12.8 million viewers.

The audience for NewsNation’s Wednesday-night Republican primary debate was one of the smallest and the biggest.
Nearly 1.6 million tuned in to the Nexstar-backed upstart cable-news outlet to watch two former Republican governors (Chris Christie and Nikki Haley), one current one (Ron DeSantis) and one outlier (Vivek Ramaswammy) tangle for attention and donors in a debate moderated by Elizabeth Vargas, Megyn Kelly and Eliana Johnson, with more than 2.5 million choosing to watch a simulcast on the CW broadcast network, a corporate sibling. At about 4.1 million, the overall TV audience is the smallest secured so far for this cycle’s Republican debates, two of which were broadcast by Fox News Media and a third by NBCUniversal.
But for Nexstar, the numbers may as well be akin to the Super Bowl. The NewsNation primetime lineup typically lures tens of thousands, not hundreds.

It is fitting that the final “cut” in Netflix’s Squid Game: The Challenge came via scissors beating paper.
The 10th and final episode of the competition series based off the megapopular Korean thriller saw the Final 3 — Mai, Phill and Sam — don tuxedoes and be led to a lavish “feast” that was often referred to as a “feast.” There, they got to know a bit about one another.
