'Tis the season to annoy everyone by using "'tis the season" way too many times when talking about holiday stuff. Halloween hasn't even happened yet, but the Christmas decorations are already taking over drug stores so ABC is just going ahead and announcing its 2015 holiday lineup. It's something to look forward to after the candy is gone, anyway, and since the "Toy Story 20th Anniversary Special" and "It's Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown" are involved, you should definitely mark your calendars.
Here's a chronological list of holiday programming highlights, via ABC:
Friday, November 27
"Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" - In the perennial favorite created in 1970 by Rankin-Bass Productions ("Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Frosty the Snowman"), Fred Astaire narrates this timeless tale of Kris Kringle (Mickey Rooney), a young boy with an immense desire to do good things for others. Many shows live and die by their main character’s ability to make you stop caring about anything else that might be sub-par. You may need a semblance of general story, depending on how hard you push the episodic nature of the show, but if you have the right lead, you only need above-average plot lines to keep people in their seats.
Stitchers has a lot in common with House M.D. in this regard. The cases were often intriguing, and though the perpetual doubt of House’s abilities grew tiring, the overall arc was pretty good. Still, Hugh Laurie made the show.
The plot of Stitchers is a “sci-fi fun” one, which for ABC Family means it balances the “need to know” with the “just play along,” and it doesn’t overwork the complexities of things, nor does it talk down to the audience… much. It’s solid, though perhaps...

As Parks and Recreation prepares to end, The Mindy Project continues to fall in the ratings, and pretty much every other new fall comedy has already been canceled, the network comedy landscape looks bleak past Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern Family, and The Big Bang Theory. But hope may have arrived in the form of Cristela, a multicam sitcom airing on Friday nights on ABC. Talk about an unlikely savior- the show comes courtesy of Cristela Alonzo, an experienced standup comedienne who became popular through appearances on late night shows like Conan and @Midnight. The show follows a Mexican-American law student trying to balance to obligations of her new internship with those of her multi-generational family.
While ABC has deservedly made headlines with Black-ish and Shondaland Thursdays, it also picked up Cristela, which is the first American network show starring, created, and written by a Latina. ABC...

Now that it is just barely summer, it’s time for the networks to try their best to get you excited for fall television. ABC wants you to get excited for their schedule, and their new shows, and I’ve got some previews for you, as well as some initial thoughts.
I have to tell you, ABC is looking more and more strange as time goes on, and the overall efforts of the network really have to make you wonder. While there are some hints of interesting shows, and one or two that might turn into worthwhile vehicles, in the Eddie and the Cruisers world of television, ABC is Joe Pantoliano, clutching his tapes, and furiously blathering about the lunacy of not giving the idiotic public what they want, especially since they keep demanding it.

There’s a five or six year span somewhere around the late ’80s to early ’90s that has become known as a true Golden Age of sitcoms, and if the last two or three years can be said to have one absolute trend, it’s trying to update and recapture the formula that made those shows into the ratings behemoths they were. Not only are there interesting markers of public appeal like the fact that these Golden Age shows are becoming the staples of Nick-at-Nite and TV Land, but the surprisingly popular original programming on TV Land is clearly leading the way when it comes to this revival.
The bigger networks are adding their own efforts that, though decidedly updated in one way or another, aim to explore the possibilities still open by way of the general sensibilities and frameworks that worked so well for shows of the past.

Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz, as team Booth and Brennan, returned to Fox tonight to kick off their 8th season of Bones so I think it might be the perfect time to get you ready for next week’s (September 24th) episode, “The Partners in the Divorce” (8.02). Via Fox we have some promo images from your next dose of Bones featuring brunette-again Brennan and Booth while they investigate the recent murder of a hot shot divorce attorney. The official synopsis goes like this:
The Jeffersonian team investigates the murder of a high-powered divorce lawyer with a lot of enemies. The plot thickens when the team discovers that the attorney’s wife and assistant have been hiding crucial evidence which could help solve the case. Meanwhile, Brennan tries to adjust to life after being on the run, and tensions start to rise between her and Booth as the impact of their...

It’s probably both surprising and old news to long-time readers (because I write snooty reviews, and talk about ABC Family a fair amount), but I’m simply a huge fan of ABC Family. I can’t really say why, and it isn’t exactly that I’m the world’s biggest Pretty Little Liars fan (though I was Aria once), but there’s something about the network and the show’s it delivers that, fan of any particular title or no, makes me happy they exist.
Even shows like Melissa & Joey, which seem to shut me right out on paper, have won me over as not only some of the coolest shows on TV (given sufficient demographic caveats), but moreover as strong arguments that television isn’t just about rotting your brain (though who would think I would be on the wrong side of that argument?). Look no further...

Only three more days, Castle fans. Seventy- two hours until the premiere of season 4. I know it has been one hell of a long summer, following that jaw-dropping season 3 finale. I feel your pain, as it has been killing me too. But we are almost there and there have been so many juicy spoilers and clips and photos lately that I believe it has somewhat eased your suffering, right?
Well, I bring you something more to tide you over the next three days, as I know that the last few hours are always the worst and seem to crawl by. ABC has just released the promotional photos for the second episode of season 4 - entitled "Heroes & Villains - which is the much teased about superhero episode. We heard about it way back in July during the Comic-Con and it's finally here.

Chicago – Emma Stone has had a meteoric rise in her film career in four short years. From impressing with her 2007 film debut in “Superbad,” she has moved rapidly through “Zombieland,” “Easy A” and is coming up as Skeeter Phelan in “The Help.”
Born Emily Jean Stone in Scottsdale, Arizona, she famously convinced her parents to attempt an acting career by showing them a power point presentation. The newly crowned Emma Stone made her first appearance in 2005 as Laurie Partridge in a short-lived reboot of “The Partridge Family,” and made a splash through appearances in popular films like “The House Bunny.” The last month has seen three films featuring her performances, with a cameo in “Friends with Benefits,” a meatier role in “Crazy, Stupid, Love” and her lead in The Help.

Elisha Cuthbert stars in ‘Happy Endings’
Interview by Michael Aaron Gallagher of StayFamous.Net
Elisha Cuthbert
Photo courtesy of ABC/Craig SjodinActress Elisha Cuthbert, who is best known for her role as Kim Bauer on the Fox drama “24” (starring Keifer Sutherland), and such films as “The Girl Next Door” (2004), “House of Wax” (2005), and the heart-pounding thriller “Captivity” (2007), returns to television in the new ABC comedy series “Happy Endings.” Although she is known for her dramatic on-screen performances, Cuthbert is taking on a new challenge – the television sitcom.
In the modern romantic comedy, “Happy Endings,” which recently premiered on ABC, she plays Alex, a runaway bride who leaves her fiancé at the altar. But her tightly knit group of friends is still bound together by their determination to negotiate the breakup, while still remaining friends with both Alex and her fiancé Dave.

ABC/Adam Taylor Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke on “Dancing with the Stars.”
Last week, we lost Lacey and Mike (and I’m not-so-secretly thrilled). Everyone must go and we might as well start with those two.
Tonight’s “Dancing with the Stars” presented a so-called “emotional challenge”: the contestants had to pick songs important to them and tell personal stories through dance. As the show started we wondered if they would be limited to dance styles or not.

This is a strange post, because it was really meant to be an interview with Emily Deschanel. After going through the transcript, and watching the episode, I really couldn't decide where to stop editing the interview in order to keep out spoilers. (It is already much later in the day by virtue of going back and forth)
Ultimately, I'm just going to wait and put that up tomorrow, which doesn't do much to entice you to watch, but the episode is such a major milestone in the show's history, that I just couldn't let myself by the final judge of what would spoil something and what wouldn't. If you are at all a fan of the show, do not miss this episode - "The Doctor in the Photo". In it, Bones finds a few too many similarities between herself and the victim, a successful surgeon. Brennan identifies too heavily with one of their victims on the December 9 new episode of Bones. The doctor turns out to look eerily similar to Brennan, as well as being a successful professional. When she learns more about the victim's past, Brennan realizes the shortcomings in her own life, including the opportunity to be with Booth that she passed up.
Below are a synopsis, promo photos, a promo and four sneak peeks for the episode. The mid-season finale of Bones will be airing this week on December 9 on Fox.

It’s always seemed to me that the Criminal Minds episodes where the case has a past or personal connection to one of the Bau team members tend to be the better episodes of the show. Last night’s installment (“Remembrance of Things Past”) was no different.

This was the first episode in the post-jj era, and the writers were smart to make sure there was no need for a media liaison this week. I think if they had, it would have made her absence more noticeable; Aj Cook was great in that role, and anyone else doing it just after her departure just wouldn’t feel right. The episode was able to flow and work without her, though that won’t be the case every week and she is missed.
Agent Rossi worked a case some twenty years ago where a killer...

I think if they had, it would have made her absence more noticeable; Aj Cook was great in that role, and anyone else doing it just after her departure just wouldn’t feel right. The episode was able to flow and work without her, though that won’t be the case every week and she is missed.

Criminal Minds' Behavioral Analysis Unit has an obligation to keep bad guys off the street. But series star Joe Mantegna says every case isn't just about right and wrong.

"Sometimes when a case gets resolved, there's always different aspects to consider. It's not always so cut-and-dried," he tells TVGuide.com "There are sometimes conditions that lend themselves to why these things happen. It's interesting when the stories have a little bit of a twist to them."
And Wednesday's episode (9/8c on CBS) has just that. When the Bau begins investigating a string of murders, Rossi (Mantegna) can't help but notice a similarity to a killer he chased over 25 years ago. Just when Rossi got close, the killer stopped, never to be heard from again — until now...

Chicago - “Easy A” is simply a hard film to swallow. Set in a high school on another planet, it wants everything and ends up giving very little. The cast is game - Emma Stone, Patricia Clarkson, Stanley Tucci, Thomas Haden Church and Lisa Kudrow - but with few exceptions the players cannot handle the lead balloon banter that passes for jokey dialogue. It wants also to be a grand statement on gossip and those who get hurt by it, but perky Stone doesn’t seem that affected.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
In one of the oddest premises in awhile, Olive (Emma Stone) begins a rumor with her best friend that she lost her virginity during a boring, stay-at-home weekend. Rhiannon (Alyson Michalka) starts to spread the rumor and suddenly it snowballs into Olive becoming a loosey-goosey skank. It seems to effect the Christian Coalition at the school, led by Marianne (Amanda Bynes...

Chicago – The broadcast network rookie class of 2009 was one of the best of all time with “Community,” “Glee,” “Modern Family,” “The Good Wife,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “The Middle,” and “Cougar Town” finding loyal fans. Even relative (and mostly canceled) missteps like “FlashForward,” “V,” “Mercy,” and “Melrose Place” were interesting disasters. Will the upcoming season continue the pattern or drop the broadcast nets back into the misery of being unable to find a new hit?
Don’t get your hopes up. Having seen at least rough cuts of all of the new programs except for the still-in-production “Law & Order: Los Angeles,” we can say without a doubt that this upcoming freshmen class will not produce the same number of all-stars as last year. Even the majority of the ten shows below are going to require some tinkering to stand out. It should be noted that most of what we’ve seen...

Chicago – Television drama is usually a formulaic proposition but rarely has a show been more blatantly derivative of other programs currently on the air than CBS’s new hospital drama, “Miami Medical,” a bizarre, ineffective hybrid of “CSI: Miami” and “Trauma”. Buried in the ratings nether regions of Friday nights, this Jerry Bruckheimer-produced show might just barely deliver for viewers exhausted after a long week of work, but they’ll have forgotten it by Saturday morning.
Television Rating: 2.0/5.0
Let’s see. “Three Rivers” failed on CBS. If “Trauma” was on any other network than the failing NBC, it would have been cancelled by now. So why should “Miami Medical” be the exception? Well, it is better than the narcoleptic “Three Rivers” and CBS certainly has a more golden touch than the peacock network, but fans of the now-gone “Numb3rs,” which this show replaces on Friday nights, should be angry at this mediocre alternative.

As a wise man once said, Christmas is about receiving not giving. It's in that spirit that I present you with my '09 wish list, reprinted below with permission from the Bearded Fat One. * A Mad Men comeback for Sal. * A tie in the supporting actress TV category between Chloe Sevigny and Jane Lynch at next month's Golden Globe Awards. * A 10th season of Smallville and all the traffic that will come with it. * More than 10 million viewers for Chuck's third-season premiere on Sunday, Jan. 10. (But I'd settle for 7.) * Non-hallucinatory Huddy sex. * A box office boost for Ragtime that...

In this episode of Heroes, Claire and Gretchen take a tour of Samuel's carnival to get a closer look at what the carny leader is offering. Meanwhile, Hrg tries to track Claire down while also confessing his interest in rekindling the flirtations between him and Lauren that she had "Haitian-ed" in the past. And Peter, who sets out on a mission to bring Nathan back, puts a serious beating on Sylar (with a nail gun!). Would Peter be able to save Nathan? Of course not, but let's find out how everything played out anyway.

Comic book writer Warren Ellis once had a character offer the following truism: "Do you know what twenty superhumans working in concert are capable of? Given a day, twenty superhumans could destroy all life on Earth." Which makes the superhumans of Heroes feel like the biggest underachievers ever. Because when they could be, oh I dunno, dominating mankind -- or, conversely, helping them -- they're scaring sorority girls, drinking to excess, or running a carnival recruitment drive. I'm just saying, these superbeings have set the bar awfully low. Here are the three items of note in "Strange Attractors," a placeholder...

Chicago – In the United States, the remains of 40,000 people remain unidentified. ABC’s new mystery “The Forgotten” is about a civilian, victims rights group led by Alex (Christian Slater) who tries to solve the cold cases that the officials have left behind because there are no relatives to push for them. They identify the unknown. Sadly, the show probably deserves to remain a mystery to viewers as well.
Television Rating: 2.0/5.0 A disembodied voice rings out over a shot of a dead woman on the side of a road in Chicago - “I was like you. Then this happened to me.” What is this? “The Lovely Bones”? The narration of a corpse being wheeled into a morgue as she claims that she’s “waiting to be found” is more than a little creepy and arguably in bad taste, but the concept of “The Forgotten” is that only a select group of...
