Okay, imagine it’s 2022 again and the slap that took over the internet for months and got memed dozens of times is making a comeback. But unfortunately, it’s not and Chris Rock was reportedly too “shook” to re-enact the infamous slap that was heard around the world.
Jerry Seinfield – Opens Up About Wanting Chris Rock To Parody The Oscars Slap
During a recent interview on the “Fly on the Wall” podcast, Seinfield reportedly revealed that he had asked Chris Rock to parody the Oscars slap on his directorial debut ‘Unfrosted,’ but that the comedian turned the offer down.
“The other thing I wanted to do that I almost did was Chris Rock was going to be the emcee of the Bowl & Spoon Awards — and we shot that right after the Will Smith slap,” Seinfeld explained. “I was going to have somebody come up on the stage and have Chris...

Jerry Seinfeld wanted Chris Rock to parody Will Smith slapping him at the 2022 Oscars for his Netflix movie Unfrosted.
While appearing on Dana Carvey and David Spade’s podcast Fly on the Wall this week, Seinfeld said he initially wanted to cast Rock in the role as the host of the Bowl & Spoon Awards, which eventually went to Cedric the Entertainer.
“We shot that right after the Will Smith slap,” Seinfeld said. “I was going to have somebody come up on the stage and have Chris punch ’em out as they got there.”
However, Rock “wasn’t up to perform” the parody of the incident. “He was a little shook from that event,” Seinfeld explained. “That was what that scene was going to be, but Cedric saved the day.”

Jerry Seinfeld has issued an apology to his “good friend” Howard Stern after telling fellow comics Dana Carvey and David Spade that the self-proclaimed “king of all media” has been “outflanked” by other comedy podcasts, and that the two hosts of the Fly on the Wall podcast are “better than him now.”
Seinfeld, whose directorial debut Unfrosted was released on Netflix last week, was the week’s guest on the May 8 episode of the comedy podcast hosted by Saturday Night Live alum Carvey and Spade. When their topic of conversation moved to the podcast format itself, Seinfeld said longtime talk radio host Stern has been at for years — since 1975 when he started at Boston University’s Wbtu station.
“Howard Stern invented this, right?” Seinfeld said of the format. “But we’re better than him now. Howard is interesting. Howard is a great interviewer, but comedy chops, I mean, can we speak candidly?...

Cedric the Entertainer was not originally booked as the entertainment for the (faux) Bowl & Spoon Awards in Jerry Seinfeld’s (faux) Pop-Tart origin story “Unfrosted.”
Seinfeld originally wanted one of his best — and oldest — buddies from standup to shoot the gig, complete with a sendup of an unforgettable moment from the 2022 Oscars.
“Chris Rock was going to be the emcee of the Bowl & Spoon Awards,” Seinfeld told Dana Carvey and David Spade on their “Fly on the Wall” podcast episode. “We shot that right after the Will Smith slap, and I was gonna have somebody come up on the stage and have Chris punch ‘em out as they got there.”

Jerry Seinfeld has apologized to Howard Stern for comments he made about the radio personality in a recent podcast interview, including that Stern lacked “comedy chops.”
“I really feel bad for what I said about my friend Howard Stern in a conversation with David Spade and Dana Carvey, talking about the glut of comedy podcasts,” he told TMZ, referring to his appearance on Carvey and Spade’s “Fly on the Wall” podcast.
While discussing the popularity of podcast culture with Carvey and Spade, Seinfeld asked the two fellow comedians, “Howard Stern invented this, right?”
“But we’re better than him now,” Seinfeld continued. “Howard is interesting. Howard is a great interviewer, but comedy chops, I mean, can we speak candidly?”
Spade said “Sure,” while Carvey said, “No!” as they both laughed. “Well, he got Robin, and Robin is a big part of how he’s funny,” Carvey said of Stern’s co-host Robin Quivers.

As one might expect, SNL alums David Spade and Dana Carvey have feelings about that upcoming Chris Farley biopic. The two SNL alums were, of course, colleagues and friends of Farley’s, and are understandably protective of his legacy.
“I don’t know how I’m…” Spade says hesitantly in a just-released episode of their Superfly podcast. “[I’m] a little ambivalent about it. I don’t know.”
“I had heard some whispers about this for a long time. I’ve run into this guy Paul,” Spade says of actor Paul Walter Hauser, who is set to star as Farley in the film. “He’s a very nice guy. I think he’s been wanting to do this for a while.”
Carvey voices tentative support for the project, saying “In all seriousness, I wish [Hauser] the best. I think it’s great.” But he also makes sure to note the difficulty of portraying someone like Farley.

Fans were deeply disheartened after Heels season 3 was canceled by Starz Network. However, Netflix acquiring both seasons 1 and 2 of Heels became a ray of hope for both the fans and the show’s creators.
The show chronicles the story of twin brothers who are pro-wrestlers. It stars big television personalities like Arrow‘s Stephen Amell, Vikings star Alexander Ludwig, singer Alison Luff, and In Plain Sight actor Mary McCormack among others.

Heels Season 1 hit our screens for the first time in 2021. It chronicled the story of the Spade brothers – Jack and Ace portrayed by Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig, who are working to keep their father’s independent wrestling promotion afloat after his death. Vikings star Alexander Ludwig famously labeled his experience of filming Heels as “painful.”
Seasons 1 and 2 had a lot going for it.

It’s one of the most iconic Saturday Night Live sketches of all time — and without Christina Applegate, it might never have happened at all.
Applegate recalled the role she played in getting the sketch on the air while chatting with Dana Carvey and David Spade on today’s episode of “Fly on the Wall,” the duo’s SNL-centric podcast.
Applegate first hosted SNL on May 8, 1993 — an episode most famous for the first appearance of Chris Farley’s motivational speaker character Matt Foley, aka the “Van Down by the River” guy.
In the infamous sketch, Farley’s over-the-top physical comedy quickly causes Applegate and Spade to break into laughter. They struggle to contain it for the rest of the scene, as Farley hikes his pants up, squats low, and destroys a coffee table with an explosive jump.

Sharon Stone is opening up about a pitch for a Barbie film she had in the 1990s that didn’t go well with studio executives then.
In a recent appearance on the Fly on the Wall podcast, which Dana Carvey and David Spade host, Stone shared details of what that movie would’ve looked like.

Dana Carvey is apologizing to Sharon Stone for the “offensive” Saturday Night Live sketch in 1992, which saw her taking her clothes off.
The actress made a recent appearance on the Fly on the Wall With Dana Carvey and David Spade podcast, where she recalled her time hosting the NBC sketch comedy show on April 11, 1992, following the release of her hit movie Basic Instinct.
During their conversation about some of the skits in that particular episode, Carvey pointed out how Stone “was such a good sport” because of “the comedy we did in 1992 with Sharon Stone, we would be literally arrested now.”
One controversial skit that Carvey brought up was the “Airport Security Sketch,” in which male airport security officers, including Carvey who appeared as an Indian security guard, made Stone remove one item of clothing at a time, claiming they needed to check to see if she was carrying anything dangerous.

Sharon Stone stopped by Dana Carvey and David Spade’s “Fly On The Wall” podcast to discuss the time she hosted “Saturday Night Live” back in April 1992 shortly after the release of her erotic blockbuster “Basic Instinct.” Stone remembered being “terrified” during the live taping as protestors stormed the stage seconds before her monologue. Six men were eventually arrested due to the incident. Stone said “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels “personally saved my life” when the protestors charged.
“I came out to do the monologue live, which is super scary, and a bunch of people started storming the stage saying they were going to kill me during the opening monologue,” Stone recalled. “The security that was in there froze because they never had seen anything like that happen. Lorne started screaming at [security], ‘What are you doing? Watching the fucking show?’ And Lorne started beating them up and pulling them back from the stage.

Was Monsieur Spade Season 1 Episode 6 the end of the story, or just the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the venerable detective?
With the superb cast, masterful writing, and one of the few times that viewers and critics connect, it's hard not to imagine everyone involved hoping this was only the first chapter of a new book about Sam Spade and his exploits in Bozouls.
Of course, it would be odd to have so much happen in the quaint town, but even during the finale, it was noted that it's not so quaint after all.
If you're not a fan of tales being tied up with exposition, you may have been disappointed in Monsieur Spade's final hour.
But if you've been enjoying the banter filling the canyons of Bozouls, then it hit the mark.
This was a highly stylized finale.

In the fourth episode of Monsieur Spade, Philippe met Jean-Pierre at the end and managed to take the kid named Zyad from Samir. Oas, a far-right organization, was also after the boy, and it was still unclear in episode 4 why everyone wanted him. Teresa and Henri got closer, but it was revealed that Henri had been spying on Spade for quite a while. The neighboring painter George and his mother Cynthia turned out to be spies working for an intelligence agency, and Spade began to suspect them. However, there are still many questions that remain unanswered, and the biggest question is what Philippe was up to. Let’s see what happened in Monsieur Spade Episode 5.
Episode 5 opened in Algeria in 1956, where Philippe captured a wounded soldier and interrogated him about the man in the picture. This man in the picture seemed to be Jean-Pierre, whom Philippe was probably looking for.

We are still not much closer to the full picture of the boy and how his mere presence has created such an uproar in Bozouls, but Monsieur Spade Season 1 Episode 4 began fleshing it out in some detail.
There are many layers to this entertaining mystery, and as one is peeled away, another is revealed.
The past and present are intricately reliant, and the more we know about one, the more we'll know about the other.
The previews for Monsieur Spade had already hinted at Sam's turn at being a badass, but watching him in action, questioning his attacker with amazing physical prowess without ever leaving his chair, was a treat.
That scene spoke directly to Spade's capabilities and what makes him such a formidable enemy and detective. Even after almost losing his life in a chokehold, he's ridiculously calm and in control.
Filming scenes like that must be a hoot.

When a show starts with dialogue as wicked as what we enjoyed between Sam and Philippe in 1955, you know you're in for an entertaining hour.
Every word from Spade's mouth was golden, and Philippe did his best to match him step for step.
Philippe: You understand what I’m saying?
Sam: Not really, but then I was too busy wondering what day you might finish talking to listen.
Permalink: Not really, but then I was too busy wondering what day you might finish talking to listen. Added: January 28, 2024
But what you could tell during that conversation on Monsieur Spade Season 1 Episode 3 is that Philippe was never a match for Sam Spade.
Philippe Saint Andre talks a good game and tries to act as if he's got the world on a string, but like most criminals, he's got little else going for him, and it shows.
Sam: That’s five hundred thousand francs.

The mystery of who killed six nuns in their convent and why deepens with Monsieur Spade Season 1 Episode 2.
All kinds of things around out of whack. There’s a nun who isn’t, a nosey neighbor, possibly with an ulterior motive, and a shooter who aims to scare rather than kill.
We also got a better idea of the guilt the residents of Bouzols carry with them because of what they did to get rid of Philippe and what anger Jean-Pierre is harboring toward Spade.
But let’s begin at the end when Teresa finally comes clean with Sam about what she witnessed the night before.
We don’t know much about Teresa or her father, but although she’s still desperate to feel loved or wanted by her father, she seems to have absorbed quite a bit from her relationship with Sam Spade.

The iconic detective Sam Spade returns to the screen in AMC‘s gripping limited drama Monsieur Spade. The character, created by Dashiell Hammett and famously played by Humphrey Bogart in The Maltese Falcon, is revived by Clive Owen, who’s more than up for the task of bringing out the gumshoe’s emotional side as we see a new side of the character. Owen’s Spade is unabashedly influenced by Bogart, Owen tells TV Insider. Diving into Bogart’s work to prepare for the drama was a thrill — and as a longtime fan of the Hollywood icon, something Owen has done many times before. Studying Bogart was easy. Learning French for this series was hard. The year is 1963, and the legendary Detective Sam Spade is enjoying his retirement in the South of France. By contrast to his days as a private eye in San Francisco, Spade’s life in Bozouls is peaceful and quiet.

This week, Carvey rejoined David Spade for their Fly on the Wall podcast and took the opportunity to reflect on his grief.
In the episode, titled “Welcome Back Dana!,” Carvey thanked his fans for their ongoing support. “If you’re listening to our podcast, you probably know about my family’s loss,” Carvey said during the show’s opening.

Dana Carvey thinks it’s going to be “really cool to laugh” as he returns to his podcast and continues to grieve following the death of his son Dex.
In his first Fly on the Wall podcast episode since last November, comedian and former Saturday Night Live castmember Dana Carvey returned to the mic with his co-host and friend David Spade. The duo took time out to address Carvey’s grief, while also discussing topics like Jo Koy’s Golden Globes gig, including that Taylor Swift joke.
“If you’re listening to our podcast right now, you probably know about my family’s loss,” Carvey said while thanking people for their messages of support. “I thought about this over the holidays and decided to come back to the podcast because I think it’s a long day when you’re not working, and you get in your head.”
