The host of Nat Geo Wild’s Pet Talk, David Mizejewski, recently stopped by People with a special guest: Emily the black bear.
At just 6 weeks old, Emily showed up to the studio camera-ready, thanks to her adorable face and shining fur (no glam squad required).
Of course, this baby black bear won’t stay tiny forever: This species, which can be found over much of North America, grows to be quite large.
Since we share our space with these majestic creatures, Mizejewski wants to make sure everyone, especially children, knows how to avoid conflicts with wild animals like black bears.

A screaming hairy armadillo gave Kelly Ripa headlines this morning at the expense of her soon-to-be-ex co-host Michael Strahan – and, of course, the armadillo – on Live with Kelly and Michael. Wildlife pitchman Peter Gros trotted out the little animal, who began to shriek, which we know from that time National Wildlife Federation rep David Mizejewski took one to entertain Conan O’Brien’s late-night audience, is something they only do when they are “really really freaked…...

Before you start stockpiling canned peaches and firearms to prepare for the zombie apocalypse, listen to National Wildlife Federation naturalist David Mizejewski. Assuming that zombification is only a human disease, the wildlife may just take care of the zombie problem before it can overrun the earth.
In a guest article Mizejewski wrote for Boing Boing, he says: "Zombies are essentially walking carrion, and Mother Nature doesn't let anything go to waste. Carrion is on the menu for a vast number of species, from tiny micro-organisms to the largest carnivores." First off, there are birds. Many different species are scavengers, including vultures, crows, ravens, and gulls. California condors are also scavengers, massive in size, and highly endangered. Mizejewski theorizes that a zombie apocalypse could actually boost condor populations by giving them an abundance of food.
As far as mammals go, bears, wolves, and coyotes all eat dead flesh, and are certainly no match for mindless zombies.

Morning Meme: Nph Gets "Punk'd," "The Wire: The Musical," and Is Black Panther the Next Marvel Film?
Teen Wolf won the lottery for film credits in California, and will be moving production from Georgia. I'm not sure I can see them creating the same creepy forest scenes in SoCal. Maybe they'll shoot up north. I don't actually remember MTV renewing them for next season already, so this is good news.
On Thursday, Maggie Gallagher will be debating Wayne University associate professor John Corvino at the Institute for American Values at 6Pm. They'll be webcasting the event, and it should be a good one.
I'd normally ignore a discussion of a radio program by a 14-year-old, but Caiden Cowger is from my home state of West Virginia, and he's got some pretty messed up ideas about gay rights. He says that President Obama is turning kids gay. “You know what? I knew these kids — some of them I was friends with, they were not, homosexuals. They just decided,...

It looks like Go On isn't the only NBC sitcom being fast tracked for an early premiere after the Olympics. While The New Normal, starring Andrew Rannells and Justin Bartha as a gay couple trying to have a baby hasn't been formally picked up, it's being allowed to staff up for an early launch.
The headlining act for the Summer Olympics opening ceremony is…Duran Duran. One wonders if Adele was busy.
The teen who put a video of himself on YouTube taking a gun to a No on One sign in North Carolina received a visit from police, and has been cited for injury to property, with an investigation to whether he violated firearms laws by shooting the gun in a residential neighborhood. Expect anti-gay forces to name him a martyr in 3-2-1.
Tom Cruise continues to make career choices that I don't expect, signing on to star in the Van Helsing reboot.

I think it may have been a good thing that Bradley Cooper dropped out of The Crow remake, because this is the concept art for what he would have looked like.
I would just like to say that I approve of George Michael's taste in men. But then again, I've always liked them beefy and hairy. Commentary is Nsfw.
I'm assuming that Canada doesn't have an equivalent of the Parents Television Council, because they'd go ballistic to find out that Pamela Anderson is going to play the Virgin Mary in A Russell Peters Christmas. The show will also feature Michael Buble and Jon Lovitz.
Details are scant, but there's an anti-bullying bill going through the West Virginia statehouse, and reports are that a spokesman for an anti-gay religious group "dug himself in deeper and deeper in a rambling speech" before the interim committee holding hearings.
I'm going to encourage...
