Independent Artist Group, the scrappy agency led by CEO Jim Osborne, is partnering with Covenant House in order to support the organization that is dedicated to fighting homelessness.
In making Covenant House its philanthropic priority, the agency is following the lead of clients Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe, as well as the band Five Finger Death Punch, both of whom are long-time and active supporters of the organization.
Iag has made a long-term financial commitment to the organization and will encourage employees to dedicate time and effort through volunteer programs and service days at Los Angeles sites of Covenant House.
“Our eyes were opened to Covenant House by our clients Nikki Sixx and Five Finger Death Punch, and once we saw the amazing and necessary work that this organization does, it connected perfectly with our core values and inspired us to join them in making a significant difference in the lives of young people,...

Hayden Christensen, who has played Anakin Skywalker in various Star Wars movies and series, has signed with Independent Artist Group for representation.
The actor famously nabbed the coveted part of the heroic-yet-tragic young man who would become Darth Vader in George Lucas’ Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and concluded his fall from grace with Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
Seventeen years later, he reprised his role for the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, a massive hit for the streamer, and the recently finished Ahsoka, which also proved to be a hit.
The signing with Iag is a full-circle moment as it sees the actor reteaming with the person who signed him as he was ascending with Star Wars back in the early 2000s. Iag CEO Jim Osborne signed the Canadian thespian with iconic agent Ed Limato when the two reps were at ICM...

On May 1, the Gersh agency took on an equity partner for the first time since its founding in 1949, selling a 45 percent stake to a New York-based financier, Crestview Partners, for an undisclosed sum. Now it’s figuring out what to do with that cash. Up first? Trying to buy a rival.
The Beverly Hills-based talent firm, run by co-presidents David and Bob Gersh and Leslie Siebert, is said to have approached literary agency Verve with an overture to talk, but was rebuffed, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. Gersh insiders say that no meetings were had, or offers made, to Verve. A rep for Verve stated: “Gersh reached out a month ago to get together which we politely declined and there has been no further interaction or communication.”
Verve, led by CEO Bill Weinstein since his promotion early this year, has looked to reach beyond its roots as a boutique literary agency.

In a moment of crisis, the leaders of talent agency APA were not about to let opportunity pass them by.
The dramatic changes that have swept across the content business and Hollywood’s creative community have made for a topsy-turvy ride for the town’s major tenpercenteries: The packaging battle between talent agencies and the Writers Guild of America in 2019 followed by pandemic disruption left sizable agencies — APA among them — in a precarious state.
But after a swirl of dealmaking, blocking, tackling and talent-wooing, APA leaders Jim Gosnell and Jim Osborne (aka “the Jims”) are heading into 2023 with more confidence than ever about cementing the agency’s position as the leading full-service, midsize alternative to the Big Three: WME, CAA and UTA.
“During the pandemic, everybody got punched in the stomach pretty hard because everything just came to a screeching halt,” says Gosnell, who is APA’s CEO, while Osborne is president.

Exclusive: Jen Rudin has joined APA where she will launch and head up the agency’s Animation and Voice Over department. Rudin is the 12th former ICM agent/executive brought in by APA over the past year — more than all other agencies combined — as the agency has been aggressively pursing ICM staffers made available by the CAA acquisition. Most of the hires have been at a senior level, including several department heads. Backed by a major investment from Ron Burkle’s Yucaipa Companies two years ago, APA has been in an expansion mode, going on a hiring spree as it is looking to bulk up and move up the agency pecking order, which was disturbed by the CAA-icm merger.
Rudin, a veteran of the animation and voice-over world, will be establishing a formal department focused on these areas which had been previously serviced by APA talent departments agents. She spent...

“With so much uncertainty in the entertainment industry, we’re very pleased to be collaborating with a person and a company so in sync with our vision for the future of our business,” commented Jim Gosnell, president and CEO of APA.
Investor Ron Burkle’s investment firm The Yucaipa Companies has made a major non-equity investment in APA, one of the largest diversified talent agencies in the industry with offices in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, Atlanta, Toronto and London.
While specific financials are being kept under wraps, Yucaipa will provide a non-equity financial investment in the privately owned APA to support the continued growth of the agency’s core business of talent representation.

Ron Burkle’s Yucaipa Companies has made an investment in APA as the agency looks to rebound from the pandemic-induced slowdown in the entertainment industry.
The agreement is not believed to be an equity investment but rather a cash influx structured as debt for the talent agency. Industry sources say APA veteran Jim Osborne, APA partner and head of talent, is poised to take on a larger role as president after helping to arrange the Yucaipa deal. Jim Gosnell will remain the agency’s CEO.
Sources close to the situation stressed that the Burkle influx is an effort to help APA grow at a time of major transition for Hollywood talent agencies but it is not a rescue mission. “This isn’t about keeping the lights on,” said a source close to the situation. The goal is for APA to expand its roster of agents and clients at a time...

Gary Oldman and Jessica Alba are set to star in Goldfinch Studios’ Martin Owen-directed thriller Killers Anonymous.
The Darkest Hour actor and Sin City star are fronting the feature, which has just started filming in London. The studio said it marks Oldman’s first role since winning an Oscar as Winston Churchill in Joe Wright’s drama.
Killers Anonymous explores a world that exists beneath the day to day, the restraint and order. For every life there is a death, and for every person there is an itch that only the few scratch; the dark voice that tells people to blow out the flame of another’s life. You might walk down a street and brush shoulders with a stranger and exchange a polite smile, completely unaware that stranger is picturing themselves stood above your bleeding body as you draw your final breath. There is a place for those people.
