It’s official: Greg Berlanti will remain at Warner Bros. Television through 2027.
The new pact — it’s not an extension of his previous deal that expires in 2024 — is described as a partnership that will see Berlanti Productions serve as a mini-studio within the larger Wbtv Group. Sources say the joint partnership will reward him based on the successes of the programming he delivers. His current deal, which was negotiated by his former agency WME, included bonuses based on the number of shows that Berlanti delivered. With The CW no longer in the volume business that afforded Berlanti the opportunity to set a record for the most TV series on the air at a given time, the backbone of the agreement needed to change. This new deal was spearheaded by CAA, which signed the megaproducer in December following a 15-year run with WME.
Berlanti’s new deal should come as no surprise.

Greg Berlanti is making a move this holiday season, from WME (where he’s been repped for the past 15 years) to CAA. At WME he was repped by Ari Greenburg; his new team at CAA will be led by super agent Bryan Lourd.
Berlanti, whose credits include the Arrowverse suite of series for The CW and “You” for Netflix, plus movies like “Love, Simon” and the upcoming Apple movie “Project Artemis,” makes the move while attempting to extend the 400 million overall deal he signed with Warner Bros. back in 2018.
Of course, 2018 and 2022 are very different for what is now known as Warner Bros. Discovery and also very different for The CW, where Berlanti saw many of his series picked up to success. In a pre-holiday surprise, megaproducer Greg Berlanti is leaving his longtime reps at WME for a new home at CAA. According to insiders, the decision to make the switch comes as Berlanti takes stock of his career — and as he approaches 50, aims to evolve his domain.
The jump from WME to CAA also coincides with big changes in the worlds that Berlanti is best known for: The CW, where Berlanti has produced countless shows and found some of his biggest success, is undergoing a massive change under its new Nexstar owners and looking to move away from its big budget, major studio series. And while Berlanti has defined a generation of DC TV shows via hits like “Arrow” and “The Flash,” the film side’s DC Studios is now under new leadership (James Gunn and Peter Safran). One of Hollywood’s most prolific showrunners is switching agencies.
Greg Berlanti has signed with CAA for representation in all areas. The architect of The CW’s Arrowverse and, more recently, co-creator of Netflix’s You and producer of the feature My Policeman, is moving to CAA from WME, where he’d been for 15 years.

The news comes as Berlanti has been in the midst of negotiations with Warner Bros. Discovery to extend his 400 million overall deal, which he signed in 2018. It’s unclear if he will do so, given that his current deal was made years before the WarnerMedia-Discovery merger. Mila Kunis, Debra Messing and other entertainment industry figures are among those who have sent an open letter to Amazon and Barnes & Noble, asking that the controversial book and documentary Hebrews to Negroes: Wake up Black America be removed from their platforms.
The nonprofit organization Creative Community for Peace was behind the letter, claiming both Amazon and B&n allegedly “refused to remove the title and continue to profit from its bigotry.”
Kunis, Messing, Jeopardy! host Mayim Bialik and songwriter Diane Warren were among 200 signatories to the letter. It was addressed to “Jeff Bezos, James Daunt, and the leaders at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.”
The protest comes in the wake of NBA star Kyrie Irving promoting the film with a tweet, then refusing to give an adequate apology. He was then suspended by the Brooklyn Nets and was ordered by the Brooklyn Nets to meet with various groups to make things right.

Netflix and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners are teaming up on “Carry On,” an action thriller that will be the first film produced as part of a production deal announced between the two companies last year.
The film, a high-flying adventure, will star Taron Egerton of “Kingsman” and “Rocketman” fame and will be directed by “Jungle Cruise” filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra. The story follows Ethan Kopek, a young Tsa agent who gets blackmailed by a mysterious traveler to let a dangerous package slip through security and onto a Christmas Day flight. At a time when the friendly skies have never seemed less inviting, the movie could make air travel even less appealing.
Dylan Clark Productions will produce the film. It boasts a script by Tj Fixman, with additional writing by Michael Green. Executive producers include Holly Bario, Amblin’s president of production, who will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.

Greg Berlanti will replace Jason Bateman as the director of “Project Artemis,” while Channing Tatum is finalizing a deal to step into a role that once belonged to Chris Evans. The Apple Original Films production has suffered a bit of musical chairs since the streaming giant swept in and landed the package for a reported 100 million-plus.
Scarlett Johansson, who also produces, has remained on board since the film’s inception. Bateman left the project due to creative differences, which altered the shooting schedule and meant that Evans couldn’t complete work on “Project Artemis” and “Pain Hustlers,” his upcoming Netflix feature with Emily Blunt.
Plot details for “Project Artemis” are being kept very hush-hush and on the Qt, but Bateman did reveal to Variety earlier this year that the film was set around the moon landing. He also described “Project Artemis” as a working title, so don’t get too attached to it!
