UTA has added veteran lit agent Max Grossman to its expanding theater department.
Grossman comes to UTA from A3, where he served as co-head of the theater division and co-ran day-to-day operations, representing writers, composers, directors and designers for theater, opera and screen.
Grossman will continue to represent writers, among them David Hein & Irene Sankoff (Come From Away), Keenan Scott II (Thoughts of a Colored Man), Sandy Rustin and Matt Gould (Lempicka). He will also continue to rep artistic directors, designers and composers.
Prior to A3, Grossman was a creative executive at Scott Rudin Productions, having a hand in projects like Broadway’s The Book of Mormon and films like The Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, Christian Slater, Christine Baranksi attend Rock The City For A Fair Contract rally.
SAG-AFTRA’s top negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland was in typically fiery form at a rally in New York on Tuesday morning when he told attendees the reason for the strike was the refusal by Hollywood studios and streamers to treat members fairly.
Crabtree-Ireland claimed Alliance Of Motion Picture And Television Producers (AMPTP) negotiators repeatedly blocked the Guild’s proposals during recent contract talks and cited three key demands from his side: an increase on minimum wages, updated terms on streaming residuals, and the regulation of artificial intelligence.

Exclusive: There is no deal in sight for the writers and actors with the studios and streamers, but one of Hollywood’s consummate dealmakers was on the picket line today in New York City
Bryan Lourd was outside 30 Rockefeller Center Wednesday along with SAG-AFTRA chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, former Fox News regular Geraldo Rivera and others – as you can see below:
The CAA chief is intending to protest tomorrow too, I hear – though where exactly he’ll be is Tbd.
While unconventional, Lourd’s presence on the picket line is not the first foray into the bitter labor dispute the uberagent has made recently.
In the days before extended talks broke down between the Fran Drescher-led actors union and the AMPTP. Lourd and Endeavor boss Ari Emanuel offered their services to help facilitate an agreement or at least the framework for further talks. While unsuccessful in their aim, the...

Exclusive: Demi Moore, Craig Robinson, Paul Walter Hauser, and Peter Stormare are among the first to be set for the pandemic-themed thriller Songbird. Deadline revealed last month that Songbird would be shot in Los Angeles, one of the first films to begin production.
The film was set up by Adam Goodman and Andrew Sugerman Invisible Narratives in partnership with Catchlight Studios and Michael Bay. Adam Mason (Into The Dark) is directing a script he co-wrote with Simon Boyes. Production will utilize strict social distancing practices and innovative techniques that will allow for shooting to begin imminently. The filmmakers are providing remote training for the actors. ICM Partners and Endeavor Content are repping sales at Virtual Cannes and they have prepared a proof of concept presentation. This cast certainly will help find a home for the modestly budgeted film.
