After more than two months off, Rachel Maddow is finally returning to helm her nightly MSNBC show. She’ll return to host “The Rachel Maddow Show” full time on Monday, April 11, individuals with knowledge of the matter tell TheWrap.
Maddow took her hiatus on Jan. 31, explaining to viewers that she would be working in some unspecified capacity on the film adaptation of her podcast “Bag Man.” The movie, directed by Ben Stiller for Focus Features, tracks the true story of one of the most brazen political bribery scandals in American history, involving Richard Nixon’s first vice president Spiro Agnew just as the Watergate scandal was beginning to peak.
Alongside the podcast, Maddow wrote a companion book of the same with Michael Yarvitz that asks if it is possible for an American vice president to carry out a criminal enterprise inside the White House and have nobody remember or notice.

Adam McKay may be on a roll with his latest movie Don’t Look Up gunning for Oscar glory on Sunday evening, and his TV show Succession topping everyone’s list for the year’s must-watch, but it seems even he can admit to a mistake.
“I f***ed up Vice,” he told the UK’s Sunday Times, referring to his 2018 Oscar-nominated biopic of Dick Cheney, which saw Christian Bale winning a Golden Globe for his transformation into George W Bush’s controversial vice president. McKay told the broadsheet, “I regret not giving more blame to the Democrats, who went along with the war in Iraq.”
He revealed, “I had a heart attack in postproduction. I made mistakes, read the reviews and went, ‘Yes, fair.’”
McKay seemed less philosophical about critics who piled in on Don’t Look Up. He said, “No comedy is for everyone. I was still surprised by the anger from critics.

When Trump supporters assaulted the US Capitol building on January 6 following Trump's election loss, it was widely considered to be the most egregious domestic attack on the foundation of our democratic republic since the Civil War. Ray finds a formidable teammate in Adam McKay, who is currently enjoying praise and pushback for his own grim feature "Don't Look Up." Showtime is set to develop an untitled limited series from The Comey Rule cohorts Billy Ray and Shane Salerno that will trace the events that led to the January 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol. Whipped into a frenzy by a speech by outgoing President Donald Trump pressing unfounded claims of a stolen election, the Trump supporters forced their way into the building and wandered through its corridors, in search of legislators who were at that moment certifying the election results that made Joe Biden Trump’s successor. Some armed, others carrying zip-tie handcuffs and others calling for the hanging of Vice President Mike Pence for not bowing to Trump’s wishes to overturn the election, the protesters were finally beaten back by police as Senators and Congressmen evacuated and were forced to hide from perpetrators that got frighteningly close. Five died and more than 140 were injured in what incoming President Biden called an insurrection.

That said, the specialty box office space might be hearing some more coin drop into its piggy bank in the forthcoming months. It’s been quite a journey, but we’ll get there slowly yet surely.
