- His most known character is Chefpiet, a Black Piet under Saint Nicolas. In the series Chefpiet is a cook but also a talented singer. In a 1998-special Chefpiet was promoted to Hoofdpiet: the most important Piet of Saint Nicolas. In 2013 Chefpiet was a high teacher at the Piet Academy.
- Don van Dijke is known for his work on Pittige Pepernoten (1997), Hallo Met Sinterklaas (1998), De Club van Sinterklaas (1999, 2001, 2002, 2005), Sinterklaas & Pakjesboot 13 (2006) and Slot Marsepeinstein (2013).
- In 2014 fans of Chefpiet planned a special video project in which Don van Dijke would reprise his role as Chefpiet. Unfortunatly this series was canceled before it finished production. One of the things planned was a song called "Met De Vlam In De Pan" which would have described the task Chefpiet fulfills for St. Nicolas.

- The size of his role in "De Club van Sinterklaas" varies every season. In 1999 (the first season) he had a very big starring role and even performed the theme song, while in 2001 (the second season) he had a supporting role. In 2005 (the sixth season) he had a very small role. Despite actually appearing in not all episodes of seasons 2 and 3 he is shown in the opening movie of both seasons which results in him being seen in every episode of those seasons.
- The character 'Çhefpiet' is public domain as long as actor Don van Dijke performs the role.
- In 2003 there were two comic stories published in Fox Kids Magazine titled "De Geheimzinnige Chocoladeletter" (The Mysterious Chocolate Letter) and "Het Boek van Sinterklaas" (The Book of Sinterklaas) which starred Chefpiet. In the same issue there was also a paper board game and an ad which both pictured Chefpiet. No pictures of Don van Dijke were shot, all appearances were animated.
- While Don van Dijke is usually painted brown as Black Pete (instead of black) there is coincidentally a paint kind called 'Van Dyke Brown'.
