My three-year-old has a conundrum. She loves “Paw Patrol,” but the franchise’s first feature film (2021) opens on a baby turtle in distress. The little guy ends up Ok, of course (this is an animated children’s movie after all), but it caused enough trauma to effectively ban screenings in our house. That would be perfectly fine with me, except for the fact that “Paw Patrol: The Movie” is significantly more tolerable than “Paw Patrol” the series
Our trip to see “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” was always going to be a gamble. Averse to risk, my wife and I bought insurance in the form of popcorn, Reese’s Pieces, and Twizzlers. And it worked — until it didn’t.
The theater was predictably packed for the 4:15 p.m. showing on its opening Saturday; “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” would win the weekend by what IndieWire box-office reporter Tom Brueggemann called a “healthy” margin.

‘Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie’ Barking Louder Than ‘Saw X’ and ‘The Creator’ For Easy Box Office Win
After the success of Barbenheimer, audiences will now reveal if they have an appetite for what’s being dubbed “Saw Patrol” this weekend as Paramount’s kid-friendly Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie goes up against Lionsgate’s horror feature Saw X.
Both movies did respectable business on Friday. Saw X won the day with an estimated $8 million — including $2 million in Thursday night grosses — although Paw Patrol will take the lead sometime on Saturday for a weekend opening in the $22.5 million range, ahead of 2021’s Paw Patrol: The Movie, which came out during the tough days of the pandemic and debuted to $13.1 million.
While the Internet bestowed Saw and Paw Patrol with the memable moniker Saw Patrol (describing the unlikely idea of doing a double feature), the weekend’s biggest swing is The Creator, the $80 million sci-fi feature from Rogue One director Gareth Edwards. The film brought in $5.6 million on Friday,...

When the world is in need, seven magical girls inspired by the colors of the rainbow take action to save it. When Frozen arrived in cinemas in 2013, its quick progression from hit movie to global phenomenon took many by surprise. As it turned out, the world clearly needed a story of sisters helping each other, and friends working together for the benefit of their community. Its global box office take of $1.3 billion earned it a spot in the top ten highest grossing films of all time – ninth, to be exact – and made the prospect of a sequel inevitable. However, there’s been little in the way of news or fanfare around Frozen 2 – until now.
Returning cast member Josh Gad – who plays snowman Olaf – has Tweeted a photograph taken as he began recording lines for the developing sequel:
It’s such a joy 2 back in the booth after this journey began 5 long years ago. The creative team has come up with a story worth the wait #F2 pic.twitter.com/RGYK...

Gone are the days of the titular Disney princess. Disney’s Frozen, a musical loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen, employs the same non-gender specific title formula used when renaming their Rapunzel adaptation Tangled.

The showstopping central musical number is a glorious anthem to female power and ability… and so, in fact, is the whole wonderful movie. Disney is finally getting it. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m starved for stories about girls and women
I’m “biast” (con): the trailer was a bit a goofy
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
Oh my goddess. Where did Frozen come from? It didn’t come from Hans Christian Andersen, that’s for certain; this bears so little resemblance to his “The Snow Queen” that I wonder why they even bothered with the connection. It did spring from the grand Disney tradition of full-on Broadway-style animated musicals, like we haven’t really seen since the 1990s. But unlike 2009’s throwback The Princess and the Frog, which felt like nothing more than a tired retread of the pursuit-of-romance motif that had long since been laid to rest,...

Just like that the list of 2014 Oscar screenplays available for download balloons to a total of thirteen including a massive batch from Sony Pictures Classics such as Before Midnight by Richard Linklater, Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy and Foreign Language hopefuls The Past by Asghar Farhadi and Wadjda by Haifaa Al-Mansour. Universal has also added Peter Morgan's script for Rush and Disney has made available the screenplays for Monsters University and the current front-runner for Best Animated Feature, Frozen, written by Jennifer Lee with a story by Lee, Chris Buck and Shane Morris. It's curious it's considered Original, however, considering it was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Snow Queen, but I really guess being "inspired by" something instead of "based on" is quite important these days. I've included all the download links directly below, just right click on any of them and select to save them to your hard drive.

Everybody remembers their first Disney film. The most remarkable thing about Frozen, the fairytale adaptation that has been in the works for more than half a century, is that it feels like your first Disney film all over again, with all the dizzying joy and emotional power that implies. Eschewing the traditional boy-girl core story in favour of the relationship between two sisters, this is Disney Animation Studios' strongest outing in years. With heart and wit and powerhouse songs in spades, it has the feeling of an instant classic.
When an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen was first mooted back in 1943, the reason it stalled came down not to technological limitations but to a writing problem. Walt & co couldn't find...

Nationwide the weather is beginning to turn colder as fall approaches, but Disney is already teasing winter wonderlands with their latest poster for their Thanksgiving release Frozen. The image above was released to USA Today along with some new details on its frosty premise. From left to right, we have Hans (voiced by Santino Fontana), Anna (Kristen Bell), Olaf the living snowman (Josh Gad), Elsa (Idina Menzel), and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff). While the snowy poster certainly sells the icy climate of this family-friendly feature, it does little else to interest us. It.s nowhere near as eye-catching as the movie.s previously released series of vibrant character posters. Penned by Shane Morris and Wreck-It Ralph co-writer Jennifer Lee, Frozen offers a new take on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Snow Queen. Earlier this week, we saw a fantastic new international teaser trailer for Disney’s Frozen, which revealed our first good look at the upcoming animated blockbuster, following the first teaser trailer last month.
Whilst the original teaser trailer was a lot of fun, it was the Japanese teaser that offered us a look at our leading characters, and it made me that much more excited to see the finished product at the end of the year.
Now Disney’s French arm have released a new international teaser poster, revealing the ice palace of Anna’s sister, Elsa.
Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind “Tangled” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” presents “Frozen,” a stunning big-screen comedy adventure.
