'The Retirement Plan' director Tim Brown took inspiration from the 'John Wick' franchise. The new movie stars Nicolas Cage as a retired grandfather who longer spends his time killing people for money and Brown says that some of the movie's concepts were inspired by the Keanu Reeves-led series.Speaking to Collider, Tim said: "The only thing I knew at the beginning was, what if John Wick became a beach bum and an alcoholic, and just did nothing for 40 years? When he's 70, could he have any ability at all? What would that ability be? That was the premise that I started with, and then it evolved."So, halfway through the movie, I could not have told you how it was gonna end, remotely. A lot of the people that I've been talking to say the film's unpredictable because I'm not following that classic action genre beat sheet.

Monday Am: It wasn’t a tie as many had Nun 2 and A Haunting in Venice far apart at the box office yesterday, but the New Line horror pic’s second weekend really did win in the end with a $14.5M take, -56%, to the Kenneth Branagh pic’s opening of $14.3M.
Nun 2‘s domestic stands at $56.3M, putting the Conjuring universe of movies’ global box office at $742M stateside, $2.17 billion global.
Nun 2 ‘s Sunday was higher than Haunting‘s $3.95M to $3.4M.
Comscore called this past weekend at $62.4M, which is the second worst Ytd. Don’t expect any great miracles this weekend with Lionsgate/Millenium’s long-in-the-tooth, Expand4bles opening. The third film back in 2014 opened to $15.8M and finaled at $39.3M domestic.

Hollywood star Nicolas Cage relished the idea of being aged up for ‘The Retirement Plan’. The 59-year-old actor plays a retired assassin in director Tim Brown’s new movie, and he was quick to get on board for the project because not only did he like the script, but he was intrigued at the thought of playing someone a decade older, reports aceshowbiz.com.

The Retirement Plan filmmaker Tim Brown makes his own luck.
Instead of waiting for the phone to ring, the Canadian writer-director has created his own opportunities to helm his written material, and The Retirement Plan, Brown’s new action-comedy starring Nicolas Cage, is the fifth time he’s done just that. Brown already had an usual path to the director’s chair, as he started out on the distribution side of the industry.
The Retirement Plan, which is now playing in theaters, began with Brown imagining John Wick as a 70-year-old former assassin who now passes his time as an island-based beach bum. He eventually sent a script to Cage, and the veteran actor was intrigued by the idea of being aged up by a decade in order to portray the added dimension of an estranged grandfather.

Nicolas Cage is one of the most admired actors in the world, and given the lore surrounding his unique personality and spectrum of roles, ranging from award-winning to eccentric, he’s always a point of interest in Hollywood. In the upcoming film “The Retirement Plan,” debuting theatrically on Sept. 15, Cage plays a retired government assassin with a violent set of skills, who must protect his estranged daughter and grandchild (played by Ashley Greene and Thalia Campbell) after they get tangled up with some very bad men (including Ron Perlman and Jackie Earle Haley). Writer and director Tim Brown spoke with Variety about the art of directing and collaborating with Cage.

Nicolas Cage continues to straddle the line between genius and madness as he now plays a surly grandfather who has acquired a special set of skills in his past career. The infamously eccentric actor has the rare distinction of being self-aware of his online reputation while continually feeding the unintentional comedy with his own personal truth. In an age where Cage can make a movie like The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which parodies himself, as well as give an acclaimed, understated performance in a film like Pig, there is certainly no predictable trajectory of his already varied career.
Enter The Retirement Plan, which has just released a trailer from Falling Forward and Productivity Media. The film stars Cage as well as Ashley Greene, Ron Perlman, Jackie Earle Haley, Joel David Moore, Grace Byers, and Ernie Hudson.

Strap on a bulletproof vest and prepare to make a shady deal or two because a Lord of War sequel is on the way. Nicolas Cage and Bill Skarsgård are teaming up for Lords of War, with Vendome Pictures producing. Andrew Niccol directs from a script he wrote, with Cage reprising his role from the 2005 original, arms dealer Yuri Orlov. The plot includes a father-son twist, with Skarsgård playing Orlov’s son, Anton. In the Lord of War sequel, Anton “tries to top his father’s wrongs instead of stopping them as he launches a mercenary army to fight America’s Middle East conflicts.”
“There is so much more to explore with these characters. Plato said it best — ‘Only the dead have seen the end of war.’ I’m looking forward to spending more time in the company of the charming devil that is Yuri Orlov and now his illegitimate...

Sibling rivalry is something I know very little about. See, I’m an only child, and so my exposure to this has been vicariously through others and by what film an TV has provided me with. I “get it,” but I don’t get it, y’know? It’s not Lost on me, it’s just not natural. Devil in the Dark is all about brotherhood and that rivalry, childhood trauma, daddy issues, and dear hunting. And an albino monster, that too.

Tagline: "There's no escape from this." A few details are emerging for Tim J. Brown's (The Cradle) Devil in the Dark. This title will be launching through Video-on-demand platforms in early March. The film stars: Robin Dunne (Sanctuary), Dan Payne (Star Trek: Beyond), Daniel Cudmore and Briana Buckmaster. In the story, brothers Adam and Clint discover a supernatural power, on a long distance hunting trip. Finally, the film's official artwork is here, with more details to follow. The film's artwork looks very Danny Darko-esque. A large antlered entity looms over a small child, with the forest blanketed in fog. It is obvious that the brother's childhoods are influencing the present, with very little light in the darkness. Indie horror fans will not have to wait long to see this title. Devil in the Dark launches on March 7th, 2017. As well, a trailer is expected to roll this way shortly...
