Novak Djokovic is a natural on the tennis court, but how will he fare when he has to tee it up with other sports pros in the 2023 Ryder Cup celebrity match?
Djokovic will represent Team Monty, in tribute to the golfing great Colin Montgomerie, who will face off against another team in the Ryder Cup celebrity all-star match. The celebrity match will take place on Wednesday, 27 September at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club ahead of the Ryder Cup competition, which is contested between Team Europe and Team USA.
However, Djokovic will have plenty of time to prepare for his round once his run at the 2023 US Open concludes. The Serbian player has progressed to the semi-finals of the competition and will face US home player Ben Shelton in the final four as he aims to become the most decorated player ever in tennis with a 24th Grand Slam title.

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2022, broadcast live and exclusively on ITV and Stv last week from the London Stadium, has raised a record-breaking £15,673,728 so far for Unicef’s vital work giving children around the world the care-free, play filled childhoods they are entitled to.
This record-breaking amount was raised thanks to the generous support of the UK public, ITV and Stv viewers, and The Power of Nutrition who have matched donations up to £4 million, meaning double the difference for children. This figure has smashed last year’s record total for money raised on the night.
The hotly anticipated match took place at the sold-out London Stadium with 54,410 fans in attendance, 10 years on from the London 2012 Summer Olympics. The match ended 4-1 on penalties to Soccer Aid World XI, taking them into the overall lead with 6-5 wins since the inaugural 2006 match. Amsterdam, June 14 (Ians) Gritty Ukraine bounced back from two goals down but Denzel Dumfries's late winner helped the Netherlands snatch a 3-2 win on home soil in Euro 2020 on Sunday.
The third match-day also saw Austria overpower North Macedonia 3-1 and England down Croatia 1-0.
The Dutch, also known as 'Elftal' assumed control from the starting whistle, and they should have got the opener early in the game but Memphis Depay, Dumfries and Georginio Wijnaldum lacked in accuracy, Xinhua reports.
The 16,000 spectators at the Amsterdam Johan Cruijff Arena saw a powerful performance from the Dutch, yet they remained wasteful.
After the interval, the hosts were eventually able to turn their chances into rewards.
Ukraine goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan blocked a cross into the path of Wijnaldum, who rifled the opener from 13 metres into the top left corner seven minutes into second half.

Goalkeepers and defenders like Manuel Neuer, Gianluigi Buffon, Fabio Cannavaro, Cafu and Philipp Lahm have shown their consistent brilliance, English stars like Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney have been world-class for long periods and supreme strikers like Raul, Andriy Shevchenko and Luis Suarez have wowed audiences week in, week out with their talent. Liverpool are in Spain preparing for tonight’s daunting Champions League showdown with Real Madrid, knowing that a victory would arguably be the most unlikely triumph in the club’s history. Brendan Rodgers’ side are in extremely poor form, both domestically and in Europe, while Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded team are scoring goals for fun and are the current champions of Europe. They key question is: has there ever been a game the Reds were less likely to win since the competition’s inception in 1992?
The 2005 Champions League Final is probably a good place to start. AC Milan, managed by Ancelotti at the time, had a ridiculous amount of talent in their side, whether it be Cafu and Paolo Maldini at the back, Andrea Pirlo, Clarence Seedorf and Kaka in midfield or the brilliant Andriy Shevchenko up front. Not many gave Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool much hope,...

Jose Mourinho has revealed he passed up a chance to sign striker Diego Costa eight years ago when the player was still at Braga prior to signing with Atletico Madrid. The £32 million striker, who will be leading the line in Chelsea’s opening game of the Premier League season tonight at Burnley, was still a teenager learning his game at the time and Mourinho says he was ‘blind’ to the player’s potential.
In the 07/08 season, when Costa was first available, Chelsea already had strikers Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, Andriy Shevchenko and Claudio Pizarro on the books, not to mention Salomon Kalou offering further backup and Israeli Ben Sahar breaking through from the academy. With Costa not yet having made his impact on the game, perhaps it’s no surprise that Jose decided not to take the plunge at the time. It’s also noteworthy that...

Failing to deliver the goods in football is an unfortunate reality for certain players, and it’s something that’s hard to shake off once you’re stuck in a downward spiral.
Many players have come and gone throughout world football, some arriving at the biggest clubs in the hope that they would cement their names in the history books, only to see everything slip away from under their feet, and followers of the Barclays Premier League will know this all too well.
Andriy Shevchenko, Robinho and Juan Sebastian Veron are amongst the unlucky few in recent times to have crashed and burned – unable to cope with gigantic transfer fees. Despite arriving for Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United respectively, for a combined £91.9 million, those three showcase exactly how misguided the transfer market can make even some of the most astute deal-makers in world football. Ever since the Roman Abramovich takeover of Chelsea football club in 2003, there have been just as many comings than goings during a decade of change at the London outfit.
The super-rich Russian oligarch has used his well-thumbed chequebook to bring some of the world’s greatest players to SW6, from Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole through to Fernando Torres and Andriy Shevchenko.
And, just as there has been a managerial merry-go-round with nine different bosses in ten years, so too has many a player come and gone, sometimes not for the better.

Whether they were turfed out, fell out with the manager or just simply opted for a different career path, here we take a look at 10 Players Who Probably Regret Leaving Chelsea.

With just a little over two short weeks to go until the release of FIFA 14, publishers EA have been cranking their marketing for the latest in the long-running football simulation game up a notch.
Last week, we were treated to a Gareth Bale-inspired trailer, while this week, the first official demo was dropped.
As if that wasn’t enough to sate your appetite, yesterday, EA also unveiled the list of Legends who will be making their way over to the Ultimate Team mode later this month.
With the likes of Pele, Hernan Crespo, Paolo Maldini and Dennis Bergkamp making the shortlist, you can torture your opposition with a squad consisting of a strike force of Messi and Pele, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Pires, even Gareth Bale and Andriy Shevchenko.

Liverpool’s busy day of transfers might not yet be done. The Anfield side have already confirmed the permanent signings of Tiago Ilori and Mamadou Sakho, as well as the season long loan signing of Chelsea forward Victor Moses, and it seems they may be looking at more options.
According to Metro, Brendan Rodgers’ side have submitted a £12million bid for Ukrainian star Andriy Yarmalenko, who plays for Dinamo Kiev, and who Ukrainian national coach Oleg Blohkin has called “unstoppable”. They say that Liverpool are closing in on the deal, though the figure suggested is a stark contradiction to the reported bid of €23m (£19.7m) that The Express said they had made last night.
Rodgers may face competition from AC Milan, who have been credited with long-standing interest in the striker, not least by his own agent who said his client wants to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Andriy Shevchenko in Italy.

For many years Chelsea have been a consistent top four team in the Barclays Premier League, always with at least one big name in their squad, such as Gianfranco Zola or Didier Drogba. In the past they were not able to keep up with the buying power of clubs such as Manchester United and had to nurture young talent rather than buy already well established superstars.
However, this all changed in June 2003 when Russian business tycoon, Roman Abramovich took over the ownership of the club. His vast wealth and willingness to flaunt it, allowed Chelsea to immediately buy big. Many pundits believed he had changed the face of the European transfer window for good. Chelsea’s signing of Andriy Shevchenko in May 2006 for £30 million from AC Milan broke all records, making him the most expensive footballer in Premier League history.

With the increasingly unpopular Rafael Benitez set to stand down from his ‘interim’ post at the Stamford Bridge helm in the summer, speculation has been rife as to who will succeed him.
One very obvious candidate is Jose Mourinho, the Real Madrid coach who spent three seasons at the club between 2004 and 2007 and became one of the Blues most successful – and cherished – managers.
The Portuguese’ is widely tipped to leave the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer and make his “second coming” to English football, with the West London club his prime destination.
During his first tenure at the Bridge, he brought the club tremendous success and was a figurehead for Roman Abramovich’s take-over and the subsequent cash-rich era that followed.
A jaw-dropping £225 million was spent under the Mourinho era on the likes of Michael Essien, Didier Drogba and Andriy Shevchenko, and though the success of back-to-back Premier League titles...

Galatasaray’s run to the Champions League Quarter Finals has been partly down to the huge contribution of Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz. His 8 Champions League goals has attracted many suitors and according to The Express, Manchester United are just one of them.
Yilmaz has been in sensational form this season, his 8 goals in the Champions League are paired with 18 in the Turkish league, making him one of the hottest properties in European football. Only joining Galatasaray a year a go, he is apparently available for as little as £10 million, putting several clubs on red alert.
Manager Fatih Terim is not confident of keeping hold of his top scorer:
“It’s not going to be easy to keep him.
He has targets but it will be his decision. Being wanted is a good thing, but we are fond of him and believe he will do great things for us in the future.

Since buying Chelsea for £140 million back in July 2003, Roman Abramovich has ploughed his Russian roubles into transforming Chelsea from a team capable of pushing for a top four spot to a team capable of winning the Premier League and Champions League.
The likes of Petr Cech, Hernan Crespo, Arjen Robben and Andriy Shevchenko were ushered in initially under the guidance of one Jose Mourinho, though eight more managers have followed since.
These players helped, in their own way, to transform the Blues into a team of world beaters, and Abramovich’s era has seen them win three Premier League titles, four Fa Cups and the Champions League.
The £50 million capture of Fernando Torres from Liverpool in 2011 only added to the vast fortune Abramovich has invested in bringing quality players to Stamford Bridge, and he has since spent a further £100 million on bringing the likes of Eden Hazard, Thorgan Hazard, Marko Marin,...

Is Roman Abramovich set to team up his former manager with Rafa?
According to a report from the MailOnline, Chelsea’s owner is considering a shock move for former manager Avram Grant to return to Stamford Bridge, amid fears that the appointment of Rafa Benitez was a mistake. That report suggests that Grant would come in as an advisor to Benitez, who has suffered a torrid time in his three games in charge so far, failing to win a game and enduring a fierce backlash from the fans.
The Mail say that Abramovich spoke to senior Chelsea lieutenants about approaching Grant in the wake of the weekend’s 3-1 defeat to London rivals West Ham. He is available, having been out of work since leaving Partizan Belgrade at the end of last season, and he is understood to have a good relationship with Benitez, which is enough to have convinced...

With mega rich Manchester City winning the Premier League last season, and serial Premier League winners Manchester United always in the mix, there is a real danger that England’s top division could become a two team league in the same way as the Spl. Will the two Manchester teams continue to dominate the Premier League? Or will Chelsea, who were once Manchester United’s main contenders for the title, again rise from the ashes and haul themselves back into the mix?
When Roman Abramovic took control of Chelsea in 2003, he set about dramatically reversing their fortunes. Chelsea finished their first season after the takeover in second place in the Premiership, up from fourth the previous year. The following year, in 2004, following the appointment of a certain Jose Mourinho as manager, Chelsea then won their first Premier League Title in 50 years.

England have topped group D after beating the Ukraine 1-0 coupled with France’s surprise 2-0 loss to Sweden.
A header by the returning Wayne Rooney was enough to see England through to the quarter finals, and more pointedly, avoid Euro Giants Spain. Though Italy will still be a stern task for Roy Hodgson’s men on Sunday, England fans will be breathing a collective sigh of relief at avoiding Fabregas, Silva, Xavi and co.
The victory came in controversial fashion however as Delvic sent an effort over the line for the Ukraine which was not spotted by the referee or either of his officials. The debate about goal line technology now looks certain to rear its head yet again once the hysteria of England topping their group dissipates.
It was the Ukraine in fact who started proceedings the better side. They showed all the forward running, ambition and drive...

England need just a point to be sure of qualification as Group D comes to a head and so brings to an end the group stages of Euro 2012.
Roy Hodgson and his team though will be hoping for a little bit more than that – they need to pick up 3 points to avoid a tricky encounter with European Champions Spain in the quarter finals. Winning the group will set up a more favourable fixture with Italy.
They will be hoping Wayne Rooney will inspire them to do just that – he has now completed his two match ban.
He is expected to start up front with Danny Welbeck, with Andy Carroll set to warm the bench. The duo formed a formidable strike force for Manchester United last season. Roy Hodgson must also decide whether to start with Theo Walcott, who scored a...

The second round of Group D matches kicks off with hosts and group leaders Ukraine taking on France in Donetsk. Both teams have reason to be cheerful at how their tournaments have started, but for the hosts this presents a much stiffer test.
Thanks to Andriy Shevchenko’s two goals, Ukraine beat Sweden in their opening game. Oleg Blokhin’s men had to come from a goal behind but in the end they got the win, to the delight of the partisan crowd. With Yarmolenko and Konoplyanka running the wings, showing pace and creativity, the Ukrainians showed enough to concern France coach Laurent Blanc.
Indeed, the two wide men, rather than star striker Shevchenko, could be the match winners as France tend to leave their full backs exposed. Samir Nasri and Franck Ribery are not known for their defensive diligence, and if the Ukrainian defence can neuter the duo’s...

England are set to start Andy Caroll up front in this evening’s important Euro 2012 clash with Sweden. Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to be dropped to the bench.
Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson has listened to the fans and the media criticism of the negative tactics and style of play against France on Monday where England only registered one shot in a defence display and with three points required tonight, a big change is expected to be made.
Sky Sports reports that England will likely field a 4-4-2 formation this evening with Carroll partnering Danny Welbeck. The Manchester United forward struggled as a lone striker against the touch French defence and we expect he will have a better time of things this evening with Carroll providing the muscle, the nuisance and the guile against the Swede’s centre-halves. Yesterday, Rafael Nadal became the first man to win 7 French Open titles beating the record he previously held with Bjorn Borg. The La Kings won their first ever Stanley Cup by beating the New Jersey Devils 6-1 to take the series 4-2. England got their European campaign off to a solid start with spirited draw with France. None of those headlines are going to make a dent in the local Ukrainian papers though. That honour is reserved for one man and one man alone… Andriy Shevchenko.

Two Andriy Shevchenko headers saw Euro 2012 co-hosts Ukraine pull off a shock in Kiev.
This victory means they have taken top spot in Group D, following the 1-1 draw between England and France earlier in the day.
Sweden meanwhile must pick themselves up from this upset before they face England on Friday in a game which may decide their Euro survival.
Ibrahimovic hit the post for Sweden and scored the opener before the Ukraine’s resurgence. Johan Elmander missed a glorious opportunity to equalize at the death when put through one on one, but blazed over as the Ukraine just held on for a priceless three points.
The game was open from the first whistle, with both teams happy to play their own brand of football. It was a game dominated by two personalities, the popular Andriy Shevchenko for the Ukraine and the enigma that is Zlatan Ibrhimovic for Sweden.

Every weekday before Euro 2012 begins on June 8, we’ll preview a national team in the field, beginning with Group A and finishing with Group D. Today we finish our massive project with co-host Ukraine, who look to be in big trouble.
Even after watching a few early surprises at Euro 2012 – Denmark beating the Netherlands, Italy pulling off a draw with Spain – I’m convinced host Ukraine will lose every match they play in Group D.
