The Lego Batman Movie hit theaters this weekend and everything is officially awesome. With extremely positive reviews, great buzz and what looks to be a healthy box office haul, the folks over at Warner Bros. must be pretty happy right about now. But it’s not only studio execs who are smiling. Lifelong fans of the Caped Crusader are likely pretty pleased with the spinoff as well, as there are a ton of references, Easter eggs and goodies sprinkled throughout the film for people to pick up on.
Some are pretty obvious and blatant, while others are clearly only there for the most hardcore of Batfans. Either way, one thing that we’re sure many people can agree on is that no matter how hard they looked, they probably weren’t able to catch every Batman villain that showed up. Be honest, how many do you think there were? 10? 15? 20? Try 39. Yup,...

Wonder/Through the Looking-Glass Houses Choreography by Arrie Fae Bronson-Davidson Presented by Kinetic Architecture Dance Theatre at Dixon Place, NYC December 2-17, 2016
Lewis Carroll's novels Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There are mainstays of popular culture, having been reinvented in just about every medium imaginable. With Wonder/Through the Looking-Glass Houses, Arrie Fae Bronson-Davidson and KineticArchitecture Dance Theatre add a new, all-female vision of Alice to that lineage. This reimagining is as much the White Rabbit's story as Alice's, and when we meet the Rabbit (Arrie Fae Bronson-Davidson)--who is, of course, running late -- during an opening dance scored by David Bowie's "Time," she is something of a vixen with glittering ruby lipstick and nary a waistcoat nor a pocket watch in sight. In a bit of departure from the original novels, this Rabbit pauses occasionally for selfies with the audience,...

It’s time to talk remakes and we’re delving into Disney again with their two versions of one of the most famous children’s stories ever. With a sequel coming out this May, it’s a good time to dissect the previous cinematic adaptation of Alice in Wonderland (2010).
When Lewis Carroll wrote Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland in 1865, he created the best-ever example of the ‘Literary Nonsense’ genre. It’s become an enduring classic for 150 years. It’s been adapted many times. The most famous version is the 1951 animated classic Alice in Wonderland by Disney Studios. It’s one of Disney’s most visually interesting films, because the storyline is so artfully illogical and filled with characters who were meant to be animated. It utilizes some great voice actors, perfectly suited for their roles.
It’s not necessary to explain such a familiar story. We all know the Mad Hatter,...

The newest story surrounding Ghostbusters 3 is an interesting one as it has Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) directing, but not the current script, but intead a completely new one from scratch, this one focusing on a female group of ghostbusters. There is no deal yet, but Feig is said to be interested and even tweeted recently, "Interesting how making a movie with men in the lead roles is normal but making a movie with women in the lead roles is a 'gimmick.'" Far from a commitment, but definitely showing a sign of interest. Considering Feig is again working with Melissa McCarthy on Spy, I think it goes without saying she'd be a top choice for the film should it come to pass and a few other great possibilities could include Rose Byrne, Emily Blunt and I'd love to see "SNL"'s Kate McKinnon get a movie role such as this.

The sequel to Alice in Wonderland has started filming in England; the sequel will be directed by James Bobin (Muppets Most Wanted, a lot of Ali G stuff), and is officially called Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass. The first Wonderland excursion took in over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, so I’m surprised it took this long.
As per the press release, Through the Looking Glass “revisits Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories with an all-new new tale that travels back to Underland—and back in Time.” The confirmed new cast includes Sacha Baron Cohen and Rhys Ifans. The returning cast includes Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mia Wasikowska and voice performances by Stephen Fry, Toby Jones, Alan Rickman, Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall.

At long last, the sequel to Disney’s massively successful, if narratively weak, Alice in Wonderland is starting to roll cameras, with James Bobin replacing Tim Burton in the director’s chair. It took a suprisingly long time for this next chapter of the planned franchise to get off the ground, considering the first film broke $1 billion at the box office, but a press release indicates that filming is now underway.
Officially titled Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, the follow-up finds the original actors returning to their roles, with a bevy of new stars joining both the live-action and voice casts. What the sequel is exactly about is still foggy, but the story is said to “revisit Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories with an all-new new tale that travels back to Underland—and back in Time.”

Disney met with some success in their live-action version of Alice in Wonderland (with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter), and since the film released, talk of a sequel has been on-going. Now, it's finally moved into production as the cast and crew have gathered together in anticipation of it's May 2016 release. Disney announced cameras have started rolling with a new cast list confirming both old and new members of the cast coming to the production.
I wasn't all that thrilled with Alice in Wonderland when it released. Not that it was a bad movie, I just didn't find it all that special or great. So it's tough to muster up much enthusiasm for this sequel, despite the impressive cast coming back for it. From the press release:

We’d love to know what kind of drugs the National Institute of Mental Health was on when it commissioned this wonderfully surreal antidrug educational short in 1971, using the Alice in Wonderland story as its backdrop. The movie opens with a young girl in a breezy meadow reading a copy of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale. Once she falls asleep, she's transported to a strange wonderland where the Mad Hatter is high on acid, the King of Hearts pushes heroin, the Dormouse is dozing off on sleeping pills, the Caterpillar’s hookah is really filled with weed (wasn't it always?), and the March Hare is a total tweaker. The U.S. National Archives tagline tells us Alice ultimately concludes that drugs are bad, but the film’s moral message is rather hazy...

What you can say about Quentin Tarantino that hasn’t already been said in spades? He’s been called a genius. An idiot. A master. A destroyer of independent film. A visionary. And the “century’s biggest racist.”
Tarantino, in his affably rudimentary manner, analyzes himself best: “Possibly I just grew up watching a lot of movies. I'm attracted to this genre and that genre, this type of story, and that type of story. As I watch movies I make some version of it in my head that isn't quite what I'm seeing -- taking the things I like and mixing them with stuff I've never seen before."
The problem for some cinephiles is that much of what Tarantino sincerely adores and often emulates is pure celluloid crapola, films to digest with plenty of cheap beer and cold pizza on hand. This addiction is a sort of heterosexual camp. Where...

It’s been said that when a child learns to read, the door to a whole new world opens up for them. This is literally the case in the delightful animated feature film Eleanor’S Secret ( that’s actually one of two big secrets ). The main hero of the tale is in reality a young boy named Nathaniel. He and his family ( Mom, Dad, and older sister Angelica ) are going to spend some time at the beach house they’ve inherited from their late Aunt Eleanor ( she nearly made it to 100! ). Little Nat is especially saddened because his Aunt would read to him. unfortunately he’s not been able to grasp his reading lessons at school, and his sister taunts him mercilessly about this. Their parents bring out a note just for the kids from their Aunt telling what she has left for them. Angelica gets a beloved old porcelain doll.

Alice In Wonderland (1961)60th Anniversary Edition (Blu-Ray & DVD)Walt Disney Home Entertainment1951/Rated G/Running Time 75 minsList Price $39.99 – Now AvailableThere is not really a lot that can be said about Alice In Wonderland that most of you will not already know. Walt Disney's seventh feature-length animated film is a loose adaptation of Lewis Carroll's two novels “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass”. Quite possibly the most surreal Disney film of its time, it essentially attempts to cram a vast amount of material into its 75-minute running time, with at least partial success. The film takes the form of a number of set-pieces, most of them highly farcical, each completed under the supervision of a different sequence director. While this method of filmmaking undoubtedly led to each team striving to make their own sequence the best it could possibly be, it results in a very episodic structure,...

Biophage, a film developed by Mark Rapp, will see DVD shelves and Netflix queues beginning February 2, 2010. Hard to Get Productions was the support behind the film and while slightly of the radar, and very independent, the early material looks good. Also, Biophage was shot in black and white near Pittsburgh, so the film will likely appeal to those looking for a grainier look, with their cinema. Have a look at all the available info' on Biophage below.
