“Bluey” has returned for a surprise episode set to drop this weekend.
Appropriately titled “Surprise,” little is known about this sneaky new episode. Will the latest edition to the Bluey-verse emotionally devastate the parents of the world, similar to last weekend’s TV special?
Details are scarce, but what we do know is that the brand-new episode will premiere on Sunday, April 21, on Disney+ at 12 a.m. Pt and will also air on Disney Junior at 7 a.m. Pt and on the Disney Channel at 7:30 a.m. Pt.
Created by Joe Brumm, “Bluey” centers around a family of dogs named the Heelers (who also happen to be Blue Heelers). Bluey lives with her sister Bingo, her mother Chilli, and her father Bandit in Brisbane, Australia. Together, the Heeler family spends most episodes tackling the simple challenges of life. But even the simplest of tasks is made uniquely adorable...

I feel a little sorry for all of the therapists who woke up on Monday to voicemails about how once again, the dogs with square-shaped heads made adults cry into dry-heaving devastation. April 14 marked the release of "The Sign," the highly-anticipated 28-minute special episode of "Bluey." Typical episodes of the hit Australian show for pre-schoolers (that adults can't help but love) range from 8 to 11 minutes, so "The Sign" might as well have been a feature-length film for these beloved canines. "Bluey" is consistently one of the most-streamed shows globally, and in an unfortunate landscape where studios and networks are deprioritizing their entertainment offerings for children, the well of emotional competency, imaginative play, and creativity presented in each story has made the series a must-watch for all audiences — kids or not.
"Bluey" has never been afraid to tackle stories on the difficult realities of life, but has always ensured that the...

When The Jonas Brothers open their show in Brisbane by walking out to your animated kid show’s theme tune, then that theme song and that show have done way more than entertain some 6-year-olds. The show in question, “Bluey,” has been a phenomenon for a while — it’s approved by the kids of “Abbott Elementary” as well as millions worldwide — and the music by composer Joff Bush and a coterie of talented collaborators has fueled two albums and untold instances of “Dance Mode.”
Music has always anchored the wordless sequences where “Bluey” reaches its most poignant heights — whether gently cribbing from Gustav Holst as younger sister Bingo swims past the planets in her dream in “Sleepy Time” or ever-so-slightly tweaking a recurring theme as Rusty walks off the cricket pitch in “Cricket” and high fives his future self as that Rusty steps up to a much bigger stage. But the latest,...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Barry” Season 4, Episode 2, “Bestest Place on the Earth.”]
“Barry” has a way of pushing its characters to distinct places. So often, over the seasons, the anxiety that comes from clutching for any available option means that everyone has to put on a performance. It started with a wayward hitman wandering into a theater and picking up a love for black box productions. It’s also manifested in different people pretending to love someone or projecting an image of dangerousness.
And sometimes, that desire to perform makes you deliver a shipping enterprise pitch to a room full of henchmen who’ve just finished an afternoon filled with Skee-Ball and branded arcade games. All of the above are part of “Barry” Season 4’s mass existential crisis event. Still setting the table for the beginning of the end, “Bestest Place on the Earth” is a collection of people locking in their last-ditch efforts to make their lives make sense. Some are out of necessity.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Barry Season 4 Episodes 1 “yikes” and 2 “bestest place on the earth.”] With the first two episodes of its final season, Barry shows it’s not slowing down and still must-see TV. The titular character (Bill Hader) is in prison, but he’s still in contact with those who have surrounded him for the past three seasons, including a phone call to Gene (Henry Winkler), who was the one to put him behind bars. It’s Barry’s ex-girlfriend Sally (Sarah Goldberg) who visits him in prison in the second episode, after a disappointing trip home. Among the complaints from her mother: Sally used her abusive ex’s name in her show. What Sally wants to know from Barry is if she has to worry about “Muffin”; one of the last things that happened prior to his arrest was she killed a guy in self-defense. Barry assures her she doesn’t have anything to worry ...
