In 2005, NFL Network sportscaster Rich Eisen and former Dever Broncos running back Terrell Davis were sitting in the stands of the RCA Dome in Indianapolis waiting for the NFL scouting combine to begin. In a fit of boredom, Eisen said out loud “I could run the 40-yard dash right now.” Davis scoffed at the idea, which only motivated Eisen to take up the challenge.
Dressed in a suit and tie, Eisen would take the field and run the dash, thinking nothing of it. Little did he know the cameras were rolling, and that night, his run would air on the NFL Network to thousands of viewers.
“[I was in] complete shock, but it was all in good fun,” recalls Eisen. “That’s the best part about doing a broadcast with a family. It’s just like any group of friends where you’re always ripe for being made fun of.”

The annual NFL Draft usually spawns weeks of rumors, speculation, and mock drafts that move players up and down. But all of that is just guesswork, and at this year’s first-round parsing of the college ranks in Detroit, the chalk held up for the first four picks.
USC’s quarterback Caleb Williams went No. 1 to the Chicago Bears on Thursday night, a move that has been expected for months. There was a bit of intrigue surrounding who might go 2-3 in the draft, but the Washington Commanders went with the safe pick in Lsu Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels at No. 2, and the New England Patriots followed with North Carolina’s Drake Maye at No. 3.
This was the fourth draft with quarterbacks going with the top three picks. It previously happened in 1971, 1999 and 2021.
Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. went to the Arizona Cardinals at No. 4, another expected pick.

Jim Harbaugh, fresh off a college footbll national championship with the Michigan Wolverines, will be the next coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, the team has confirmed.
Harbaugh returns to a team that he once played quarterback for in two seasons.
Harbaugh has agreed to a five-year deal with the Chargers, sources told ESPN. The appointment is something of a coup for the Chargers, whose time in L.A. has not been high wattage. Harbaugh has won at Stanford, for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, and at Michigan.
As a collegiate coach, Harbaugh has a 144-42 record (86-25 at Michigan), winning three Big Ten championships and Michigan’s first national title since 1997 this past season.
Harbaugh comes with some baggage. Last year at Michigan, he served two three-game suspensions, missing the first set for alleged recruiting violations and the final three games for a sign-stealing scandal.

The No. 1 Michigan Wolverines (13-0) will make their third-straight appearance in the College Football Playoff on New Year’s Day. Their first two trips have not resulted in a shot to play for the national title, but Jim Harbaugh and his squad are hoping to turn that around when they go head-to-head with Nick Saban’s No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (12-1) in the Rose Bowl on Monday, Jan. 1. The two blue-blood programs will face off for just the sixth time when the game kicks off at 5 p.m. Et on ESPN. The winner will take on the team that survives the Sugar Bowl, either No. 2 Washington or No. 3 Texas. Michigan fought its way to a victory over Ohio State on Saturday and, in the process, blew the rest of the college football season out of the water.
The rivalry game between the No. 2 and No. 3 teams averaged more than 19M viewers on Fox, marking the largest audience for their matchup since 2006 (when the teams were No. 1 and No. 2). That game holds the audience record with 21M viewers on ABC.
While this game always manages decent viewership, it’s likely this is its peak for a while, given the increased interest in Michigan this season due to head coach Jim Harbaugh’s suspension over an illegal scouting scandal.
In second place, by a wide margin, was the Alabama-Auburn Iron Bowl with 9M viewers. That’s still quite a large audience, considering the previous few weeks of college football had been quite sleepy. In fact, it’s the largest audience for...

It is time for all of the talking, accusations, and investigations to stop, because The Game is finally here. In the hallowed history of this rivalry, you will be hard-pressed to find a matchup that carries more short and long-term implications than this one. Not only is a spot on the Big Ten Title game on the line for the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines and the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes on the line on Saturday, Nov. 25, but the reputations of their programs and head coaches are as well. With Um head coach Jim Harbaugh suspended for three games due to the revelations that his program operated a multi-year sign-stealing operation, his team is looking to prove that they didn’t need to cheat to win. While Osu’s Ryan Day is hoping to prove that the only way that his team’s rivals could win The Game is by resorting to illegal methods.

After a few slower weeks for college football, audiences appear to be climbing again in Week 11.
Michigan-Penn State drew 9.16M viewers on Fox, which was by far the most-watched game of the week.
Penn State’s loss to Michigan tallied the sixth largest audience of the college football season. However, it’s the second most-watched matchup of the season for Fox, behind the Penn State-Ohio State game that drew an audience of 9.96M.
The audience win comes as Michigan is under intense scrutiny, as head coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended ahead of Saturday’s game after the Big Ten found the team was conducting non-permitted scouting operations. With Michigan currently ranked No. 2 on the AP poll, it’s probable that the ongoing controversy contributed to the large audience.
Fox delivered both of the most-watched games of the week. In second place was Utah-Washington with 5.17M viewers. Mississippi-Georgia came in third with 4.83M viewers on ESPN,...

It’s one of the most storied and intense rivalries in all of football: Michigan vs. Ohio State. The teams first played each other in 1897, and have played almost annually since 1918. Michigan leads the all-time series 59–51–6. The No. 5 Wolverines snapped No. 2 Ohio State’s eight-game winning streak with a 42-27 win in Ann Arbor last year. Both teams are in the College Football Playoff hunt again this year, and they’ll no doubt have an impact who’s playing for the national championship. Before the teams meet on Saturday, November 26, for the 118th time, Sinclair Broadcast Group and Tennis Channel Studios present Rivals, an exploration of the coaches, players, big moments and more that have made the Mu-Osu series legendary. From the “Snow Bowl” in 1950 to the “Ten-Year War” between coaches Bo Schembechler and Woody Hayes, the 2006 “Game of the Century” and the recent clashes between Urban Meyer’s...

With the window of opportunity for college football nearly closed, the Big Ten and Pac-12 conferences dealt the multi-billion-dollar sport a major blow Tuesday by calling off their fall sports seasons.
Football, officials said, will hopefully be played again in the spring. It cannot be contested on the usual fall Saturdays due to the continuing rates of Covid-19 infection across the U.S., they determined. They no doubt also are mindful of the massive liabilities faced by universities and college sports entities, especially given that the long-term health risks to those affected by coronavirus are unknown.
“All of the Pac-12 presidents and chancellors understand the importance of this decision, and the disappointment it will create for our student-athletes, the coaches, support staff and all of our fans,” said Michael H. Schill, president of the University of Oregon. “Ultimately, our decision was guided by science and a deep commitment to...

There will be no college football this fall for the Big Ten or the Pac-12. Both conferences announced Tuesday they have decided to kick fall sports until 2021 amid the still-spreading coronavirus pandemic.
“The mental and physical health and welfare of our student-athletes has been at the center of every decision we have made regarding the ability to proceed forward,” said Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren. “As time progressed and after hours of discussion with our Big Ten Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Big Ten Sports Medicine Committee, it became abundantly clear that there was too much uncertainty regarding potential medical risks to allow our student-athletes to compete this fall.”
“The health, safety and well-being of our student-athletes and all those connected to Pac-12 sports has been our number one priority since the start of this current crisis,” said Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott, who made its announcement roughly...

As college presidents and officials at the “Power 5” college football conferences moved closer to postponing the fall season over Covid-19 concerns, a dozen top players have organized a pushback.
Spearheaded by Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the players used the hashtag #WeWantToPlay to argue that the risk for those participating in football is lower than in a non-college sports environment. In a joint statement, the players called for “universal, mandated health and safety procedures” while also backing the rights of individual players to opt out for personal reasons.
The outcome of the deliberations will have a major impact on a number of major media companies, including Disney, Fox and ViacomCBS. College football has boomed in popularity over the years, becoming a multi-billion-dollar business across dozens of national and regional pay-tv networks.

Colin Kaepernick is obviously growing more and more frustrated that the National Football League is ignoring him.
Kapernick’s agent, Jeff Nailey, and PR director Jasmine Windham sent out a Q&a press release on Thursday titled “Facts to Address The False Narratives Regarding Colin Kaepernick.” The release was apparently issued in frustration that the Pittsburgh Steelers are choosing to start an undrafted rookie, Devin Hodges from tiny Samford College, rather than enlist the former 49ers starter.

In this day and age, there is no reason for wearing pants that don't fit. If we can put a man on the moon, we can craft pants that skim male hips without crushing their bits or billowing out into accidental Jncos. Sarah Harbaugh, wife of San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, is on a crusade to end 'Dad Pants.' With the help of Dockers, she is determined to get back the butts for ladies — and gentlemen — to ogle. Because wearing pants that look like khaki drapes hung from a belt is no way to live.

John and Jim Harbaugh recently faced off in Super Bowl Xlvii, John as the coach of the winning Baltimore Ravens and younger brother Jim as the coach of the losing San Francisco 49ers. John appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman" Thursday night (Feb. 8) and told Dave that the two haven't spoken yet since the big game.
"We have not had a conversation since. We will, soon," says Harbaugh. "I'm hoping sometime soon. We have meetings coming up, we have a combine in two weeks."
Letterman asks if there's animosity and John says no. But he adds, "There's no consolation, there's no way that you console your brother. Anybody who has a brother knows that. It doesn't work."
When asked which of them is the favorite, John laughs and says, "I felt like JIm was the favorite pretty much our whole ... Jim felt like he was the favorite, but in truth,...

Ravens? 49ers? Brothers John and Jim Harbaugh coaching against one another in the Super Bowl? Sure. But a significant segment of the audience for Super Bowl Xlvii is watching the commercials as much as the game.
Advertisers paid up to $3.8 million per 30-second spot on CBS' broadcast of the game, which will reach 100 million-plus viewers. Did they get their money's worth? Check back throughout the game for Zap2it's running commentary on the best ads of Super Bowl Sunday.
M&M's: But I won't do that
Anytime you can work Meat Loaf into an ad, you're ahead of the game. M&M's did just that, as Red sang the anthem "I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" as "Glee's" Naya Rivera tried ever more ways to eat him. Well done.

Budweiser: Black Crown
Budweiser has introduced its Black Crown beer, which is an amber lager with a higher alcohol content. And based on that stupid commercial, one has to wonder if the beer sucks too. Oooh, everyone's in black. Oooh, look how edgy we all are. Like hot, trendy people in a hot, trendy bar are going to drink Budweiser. Sorry, not buying it. Also, the goth lipstick is doing you no favors.

The reasons to get excited about Sunday's Super Bowl Xlvii are aplenty, and are much bigger than Beyonce: 1) Ray Lewis' Farewell Tour finally meets its last stop after rumbling through the playoffs (including massive defeats of the Broncos and the Patriots) to make it to the single biggest sports game on the planet, and his Ravens' coach John Harbaugh will face off against none other than his brother Jim Harbaugh, coach of the hotter-than-ever San Francisco 49ers riding the wind of freshman quarterback Colin Kaepernick. But you're not going to be paying attention to any of the Har-Bowl when Knowles, the leader of the free female world, takes the stage, are you? Watch this preview below and then try to remember anything I've written here. I dare you:
Super Bowl Xlvii goes down this Sunday, February 3rd on CBS. Will you be watching? Who are you rooting for? Let us know in the comments.

49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has achieved a lot in his nearly 50 years.
As quarterback at the University of Michigan, he guided the team to two bowl games and was named to the 1986 All-American team. While playing in the NFL, he went to the 1995 Pro Bowl and, to this day, still holds the Chicago Bears record for most completions. He coached the Stanford football team to its best season in a generation and almost singlehandedly transformed the San Francisco 49ers from an under .500 team to one of the best in the NFL in a single season.
While all of the things are undeniably impressive, there's one thing that really stands out: guest-starring on Saved By The Bell: The New Class as the cousin of Samuel "Screech" Powers back in the 1990s when he was quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts.
