- Born in Washington, DC on January 15, 1980 and raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Richard Patterson started entertaining as a young boy in plays and choirs in his local church and schools.
Rich (as he's affectionately known by family and friends), broke into the modeling industry as a practical joke, he was dared by one of his friends. While walking toward "The Talent Connections" building, Rich was stopped by the director of the company and signed his very first modeling contract that very day. He attended and graduated college from the prestigious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T), with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, Graphic Communications. He took drama classes during summer school and found that he naturally enjoyed performing, especially if it had anything to do with comedy and romance. After college (6 1/2 years), he worked as a banker, pursued modeling, acting and performed stunts on motorcycles during his spare time.
He credits his training to Tasha Smith, Linda & Robert Townsend, R. Paul Thomason, David Sorrells and Miller Lucky.
His training landed him a role in Phil Morrison's 2005 film titled, Junebug, Tyler Perry's "House of Payne," etc.

- As a youth, he was very active in sports ranging from swimming to basketball, football, table tennis and track. He spent most of his time sharpening his skills at Hargraves Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.
- He broke his left arm when he was seven years old riding a skateboard. He never road a skateboard again. Instead, he learned how to stunt ride ATV's and mini bikes which later led to stunt riding sport motorcycles and appearing in music videos (background) with Ruff Ryder's Entertainment. In 1999 Rich aka "FACE" was named President of the Ruff Ryder LifeStyles chapter of North Carolina and built the Ruff Ryder brand from the ground up in NC and SC with Vice-President Todd Gibbs.
- Fractured his left leg in a football championship game held at Durham County Stadium in the opening kickoff return. Richard was a running back and then became a defense back in high school.
- Auditioned for the supporting role as Curtis in the Hofstra University film "Crossbay Boulevard" and instead was given the leading role of Cedric.
- Patterson drove 15hrs from Atlanta Georgia to New York City to audition for the Hofstra University film "Crossbay Boulevard." He rehearsed and memorized lines for both supporting and lead characters while driving up the highway.
