In case you did not know, a Blade Runner series is in the works and has been shooting since April. Titled Blade Runner 2099, the series was revealed to be in the works in 2021, when Ridley Scott himself confirmed that a pilot and the series’ bible (a reference book for a series with relevant plot and character data) had been written. The series was officially announced in 2022 when the title was also revealed. Filming was set to begin in 2023 but was postponed to April 2024 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which paralyzed the entertainment industry for a longer period of time. Now, knowing that the series is currently being filmed, we can also confirm that we have some exciting casting updates.
The Blade Runner franchise wasn’t a franchise initially. It started off as a standalone movie directed by Scott, which starred Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer in the main roles.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, T-Minus will be adapted from the Philip K. Dick sci-fi 1974 short story A Little Something for Us Tempunauts.

Exclusive: Coming off directing and executive producing the first two episodes of FX’s Shōgun, Jonathan van Tulleken has been tapped to direct and executive produce the first two episodes of another high-profile limited series, Prime Video’s Blade Runner 2099.
Tulleken replaces Jeremy Podeswa, who was originally set to direct the first two episodes but had to step away due to scheduling conflicts as the Blade Runner 2099 production schedule was altered by the WGA strike.
The series was originally slated to film in Belfast last summer. In May, a couple of weeks into the writers strike, it was revealed that, due to the work stoppage, production on Blade Runner 2099 was delayed, likely until spring 2024. Northern Ireland Screen said at the time the project had “been prepping on the ground in Belfast for many months now.”

By using powers of meditation Juliana escaped death to land in a parallel universe.

Woody Allen’s multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Amazon isn’t dead, but it is definitely wounded.
In a dense ruling released Wednesday on a motion by the Jeff Bezos-founded streamer to toss Allen’s February 7-filed complaint, a federal judge in New York firmly sliced off a good portion of the Oscar winner’s claims. “Amazon’s April 3, 2019 partial motion to dismiss is granted,” U.S. District Court Judge Denise Cote wrote in a ruling (read it here). “The plaintiffs’ fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth causes of action are dismissed, including the sole claim against Amazon Studios.”
All of which means Allen has essentially lost the ability to go after the Jennifer Salke-run studio over the Roy Price-instigated Multipicture Acquisition Agreement inked with his production company Gravier.
Already back behind the camera on his new Rivkin’s Festival film, the Manhattan filmmaker can still pursue the action on...

The fact that you can hear The Man in the High Castle‘s young Nazis chanting the exact same phrases as real-life, present-day racist hordes do is as chilling as it is coincidental, the show’s cast and executive producers say.
“We did the ‘blood and soil’ before Charlottesville,” Ep Isa Dick Hackett said, referring to the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Va. During the violent event, white supremacists chanted Nazi slogans including the one that Hackett mentions, which Hitler youth cry during the Amazon drama’s Season 3 finale.

Every streaming platform wants its in-house big names these days, and Amazon is no exception, as seen with Friday’s announcement that it had lured Jonah Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators behind HBO’s “Westworld,” away from Warner Bros. TV.
Per Variety, Nolan and Joy’s new exclusive deal is said to be $150 million over five years; the pair will still be working on “Westworld” for the rest of the show’s run (Season 3 goes into production soon) but will now develop original series for Amazon, including the already-announced series “The Peripheral,” based on William Gibson’s novel.
The scale of the deal is on the level of similar huge pacts that producers like Ryan Murphy and Shonda Rhimes have made with Netflix. But Amazon has, like other platforms, been actively engaged in signing up other creators for exclusive deals, including Neil Gaiman, Reed Morano, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan...

“I really can’t comment on anything about that,” Jennifer Salke said Wednesday when asked about the multimillion-dollar lawsuit Woody Allen filed against Amazon Studios last week.
“It predated me, and now that it is in litigation, I can’t make any comments on it at all,” the Amazon Studios boss added, also dodging responses to the fate of Allen’s completed but shelved Rainy Day in New York film at the center of the suit.
The film, starring Jude Law, Selena Gomez, Elle Fanning, Diego Luna, Liev Schreiber and Timothée Chalamet, was part of Allen and Amazon’s four-picture deal inked in 2017 kicked to the curb last year. The Oscar-winning director is now hoping to squeeze about $68 million in compensation out of Amazon for the scotched contract, which went south resurfaced amid allegations of Allen engaging in improper sexual conduct with his daughter Dylan Farrow decades ago.

Developed by Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files) based on Philip K. Dick’s award-winning 1962 alternate history novel, The Man in the High Castle explores what would have happened if the Allied Powers had lost World War II.

Eric Overmyer swears the third season of Amazon’s “Man in the High Castle” isn’t a response to Donald Trump.
“I banned the ‘T’ word in the writers room,” Overmyer, who took over as showrunner this year, told TheWrap. “I wanted to let the current situation resonate with the show by itself. I didn’t want it to dictate our narrative.”

Exclusive: Amazon made it very clear earlier this year with a big Super Bowl ad that Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is a big priority for them and the Jeff Bezos company are aiming to seal that deal at Comic-Con next month.
In fact, with a Jack Ryan participating panel and massive immersive experience just outside the San Diego Convention Center, Amazon is bringing its best and brightest to the confab, I’ve learned.
No word if Jack Ryan star John Krasinski or Good Omens’ Michael Sheen or former Doctor Who David Tennant will be in Ballroom 20 on July 20 but a Hell of a lot of the creatives of the two upcoming shows sure will be. Instead of individualized panels for this year’s Sdcc, Amazon have set one mega-panel with a few planned surprises and some world premiering footage.
“So many panels are all the same, and we’re...

Long before Amazon explored the world of Philip K. Dick with the anthology series “Electric Dreams,” writer-director Dee Rees found herself enamored with his work. In addition to counting a number of films adapted from his writing amongst her favorites (including “Blade Runner” and “Total Recall”), Dees attempted to turn Dick’s short story, “The Martian Time-Slip,” into a feature. Though it didn’t work out, she had a fan in the late author’s daughter, Isa Dick Hackett, who brought Rees aboard “Electric Dreams.”
Rees had a number of Dick’s short stories to choose from, but she says she “gravitated” toward adapting the 1953 tale, “The Hanging Stranger.” In it, an unassuming man, Ed, spots a mysterious hanging body on a lamppost, but no one else in his small town seems to be bothered by its appearance.

Amazon Prime Video is once again renting out the Hollywood Athletic Club for much of April to continue its Emmy “For Your Consideration” campaign. Dubbed the “Prime Experience,” the display and series of events take place from April 12 to 27. Among the events: screenings with the cast and creators of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams” for TV Academy members, as well as themed evenings open to the general public.
This is the second year that Amazon has taken over the space to create themed rooms throughout the historic building. This time, interactive, themed rooms include the world of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” where, per Amazon, “attendees will be able to travel back to 1958 New York City through the eyes of Midge Maisel. As they enter her apartment, they’ll experience a unique ‘magic mirror’ where they can interact with the show. From there, they’ll...

It’s “Breaking Bad,” Emmy-winning actor/producer Bryan Cranston told IndieWire, that changed his life in many ways — especially the fact that “it’s given me opportunities to have more control of my destiny, [be] financially secure, so I don’t need to ever make a decision based on financial need.”
And that means when he chooses to appear in a project, such as the Amazon Prime series “Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams,” it’s because he believes in it. “I can pick and choose what I want to do, where I want to go, what stories I want to tell, whether that’s on stage, or on a film, in a series. Whether I’m producing, or acting, or directing, or writing, I’m free to be able to look at all aspects of it.”
