Jaipur, Oct 5 (Ians) India Capitals were crowned the champions of the Legends League Cricket (LLC), which was being held in India for the first time.
In an entertaining final, played at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium here on Wednesday, the Capitals beat Bhilwara Kings by 104 runs to lift the trophy.
The Capitals, captained by Gautam Gambhir, made an excellent recovery after stumbling early to post 211/7 in 20 overs. The Kings crumbled under pressure of the tall target and were all out for just 107 in 18.2 overs.
While Ross Taylor (82 off 41 balls) and Mitchell Johnson (62 off 35 balls) were the architects of the Capitals’ innings, sharing a 126-run stand for the fifth wicket, the Kings did not manage to get any meaningful partnership from their batters.
The Kings’ openers, Morne van Wyk (5) and William Porterfield (12), were out inside the first four overs. A lot depended on the broad shoulders of Yusuf Pathan (6), but he did not last long.

London, June 12 (Ians) Former England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar feels the Kane Willaimson-led New Zealand look a better side as they have more variation in their bowling attack, going into this month's World Test Championship (Wtc) final against India.
"I think New Zealand look slightly the better side. The reason being they have a lot more variations. They have a left-armer, right-armer and the tall bowler (Kyle) Jamieson as well. And that's a lot more difficult for a batsman to adjust to," Panesar, who played 50 Tests between 2006 and 2013, told Sportzoclock.
"So, Nz will be hoping that the Indians will be preparing against the likes of a right armer and a left-armer and practicing with the ball swinging, because that is where it is going to be really testing for India," he said.
The Wtc finals starts on June 18.

London, June 2 (Ians) Pitch at Southampton will help spinners giving India edge over New Zealand in World Test Championship (Wtc) final, said former England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar.
The Wtc final will be played in Southampton between June 18 and 22.
"I think the Southampton wicket will help the spinners and also the fact that New Zealand players don't play spin very well [giving India edge]," Panesar told Ians.
Panesar, who had left everyone surprised by predicting a 5-0 win for India in five-Test series against England in August-September, now said that 5-0 won't happen.
Panesar had tweeted recently that pitches in England in August-September will help spin bowlers giving India advantage over England, who struggled to play spin in the recent 1-3 Test series defeat in India.
While dismissing his own 5-0 prediction, Panesar said India can win the series since they have quality seamers and batsmen who have experience of playing in seaming conditions.

London, May 23 (Ians) Former England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar feels all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja "will be the X-factor" when India take on the Kane Williamson-led New Zealand in the World Test Championship (Wtc) final at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton from June 18 onwards.
Panesar said on Saturday that while a lot will depend on how the International Cricket Council (Icc) prepares the pitch for the inaugural Wtc final, "spinners will also play a crucial role" in the summit clash.
"For me, Ravindra Jadeja will be the X-factor. He's been in terrific form in the Indian Premier League. If India decides to go with just one spinner, I'll go with Jadeja instead of (Ravichandran) Ashwin as the spin-bowling option. London, May 22 (Ians) England batsmen's inability to play spin will haunt them again during the Test series against India who will win it 5-0, said former England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar.
The veteran spinner said pitches in England during August-September period will help the Indian spinners and home batsmen's weaknesses will be exposed again, just months after they suffered humiliation in India, losing the four-Test series 3-1.
"If the wickets turn in August every chance [India will win 5-0]," said Panesar in a series of tweets.
"I expect green pitches v Nz and we can see the depth of English cricket. In August, I expect drier wickets. Imo (In my opinion) it favours India," added Panesar, who played a key role in helping England win the 2012-13 series 2-1 in India.
"Will it seam in August? It tends to spin at that time of the year… 5 test matches are in August where we will expect warmer conditions.

Chennai, Feb 8 (Ians) As India need 381 more runs, with nine wickets in hand, to win on the fifth and final day of the first Test against England here, it won't be surprising if the Indian camp would dig out the video of India's famous six-wicket win against the same opponents in 2008, made memorable by Virender Sehwag's swashbuckling 68-ball 83 that set up play on the fifth and final day.
Chasing a target of 420, India on Monday lost Rohit Sharma (12) at the Ma Chidambaram Stadium here. Shubman Gill (15) and Cheteshwar Pujara (12) are at the crease.
In 2008, the Kevin Pietersen-led England had set India a target of 387 in the fourth innings. Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir gave the team a rousing start with their 117-run opening-wicket stand. Gambhir (66 off 139 balls) took a backseat and let his senior partner take the opponents by the scruff of their neck.
Having endured a poor 2007, Sehwag looked hungry for runs.

New Delhi, Jan 29 (Ians) While India begin favourites against England in the upcoming four-Test series since they are playing at home, their two top exponents of reverse swing, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami, will be missing from the line-up, depriving the hosts of a key weapon required on Indian surfaces.
Reverse swing plays an important role on all Asian pitches and Ms Dhoni made that clear in 2012-13 when the visiting England pulled off a surprise 2-1 win over host India.
Although spinners Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann picked wickets and demolished India, Dhoni termed James Anderson's presence in the England camp as the major difference between the two sides. Anderson picked just 12 wickets in four Tests then but that made the difference.
Anderson, 38, will again be featuring in England playing XI at least in one of the first two Tests. England also have the experience of...

London, Jan 22 (Ians) Australia are no more the best team in the world and what England should be focusing at is to beat India in India as they have been "virtually unbeatable" at home since 2012, feels former England off-spinner Graeme Swann.
England will be taking on India in a four-Test series beginning February 5, followed by five T20Is and three ODIs. The Virat Kohli-led side would be high on confidence following their recent memorable Test series win over Australia in their own backyard.
According to Swann, beating India in India would now be a higher achievement than winning Ashes series away considering the performances of Team India in recent times.
"England always saying 'well the Ashes are coming up'. B***ocks to that. If you want to be the best team in the world, let's be the best team all over the planet, not just trying to beat Australia away.

The Edge, directed by Barney Douglas, follows the England Cricket team between the infamous years of success from 2009 to 2013. Beginning in late 2008 with England on a destructive path of self-annihilation during their world tour, following the teams slow rebuild with refreshed ideas resulting in a newfound success on a world stage, touching on the inevitable downfall and mental fatigue that comes with the global unification of serial winning.
First and foremost, The Edge is not merely a simplistic film about the sport of cricket. It is not a one-note love letter of which its main focus is to preach to the already convinced choir of fans. It is far from it. It is a film that works wonderfully on two levels.

Some people talk the talk and others walk the walk. Vivek Oberoi, described as a Bollywood actor, social worker, adventure sports enthusiast, poet, pilot and dreamer, inspired over 120 guests to walk the walk as he does so gallantly at the Women Empowered event in support of Sewa Day on Tuesday July 1st.
The event, all organized in just 10 days, and sponsored by Sun Mark Ltd in association with Sterling Media, was sold out and those present were almost transfixed by the depth of Vivek’s thoughts and left wanting to hear more. The event was to raise awareness for Sewa Day, an initiative to remind us that charitable giving is not always about donating money, it was, many a times about donating time – the concept of selfless service that generations of Indians (and many others under a variety of names) have known as ‘sewa’ was being revived to a mass audience.
