*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by one of the producers. Director: Edward Evers-Swindell. Writers: Edward Evers-Swindell and Antony Jones. Cast: Siwan Morris, Gareth David-Lloyd, James Cosmo, Eleanor Gecks and Joanna Ignaczewska. Dark Signal is an indie film from Wales. Developed by director Edward Evers-Swindell (Infestation, 2005), writer Antony Jones and producer Neil Marshall, this film was released in the United Kingdom, in 2016. Since 2016, the film has found an upcoming United States' theatrical launch via XLrator Media. Dark Signal offers a split narrative. One story is more supernaturally based, while the second relies on a serial killer - the Wedlock Killer. Before the two stories unify in Act III, viewers may want to ask a question: are the two stories on the same timeline? There are a few hints along the way. Meanwhile, the film relies on mystery to hold its tension, through the hidden identities of both the protagonist and antagonist.

Nearly a year after it's release in the UK, Edward Evers-Swindell's supernatural horror film Dark Signal will finally available in the Us via the folks at XLrator Media.
The horror movie, about a radio station which is taken over by the ghost of a murdered woman, was of interest to us for a number of reasons among them the fact that it's a cool concept and the original trailer suggested a good looking film but what really got us excited was the fact that genre master Neil Marshall was on board as executive producer.

Tagline: "Fear the Returned." The first trailer for Edward Evers-Swindell's (Infestation) Dark Signal has hit the air waves. The film, partially developed by Neil Marshall (The Descent), involves the spirit of a murdered girl. Sometimes, the dead still have a reason to stay behind. The film stars Siwan Morris, Gareth David-Lloyd and Joanna Ignaczewska. And, this horror film, from Wales, looks to blend several different stories together in this thrilling clip. The film involves at least two separate stories. Single mother Kate (Ignaczewska) is entangled with a desperate robbery plan, which leads her out into the wilderness. Here, something emerges from the dark woods. Meanwhile, at a local radio station, two broadcasters are sending out their last radio show. Their special guest is a local medium. And, the spirits they churn up have their own disturbed story to tell. The trailer for Dark Signal is a good one. The...

When watching a low-budget genre movie it’s always a little disheartening to discover that the film’s execution doesn’t quite live up to its ambitions. Sadly, such was the case with The Scopia Effect, a film that possesses an intriguing premise with which it does disappointingly little. Alarm bells should have rung in the opening titles when the name of the movie is helpfully defined for the audience, despite the phrase never actually coming up in any other part.
Basia is a Polish emigre working in England, a trait used both to highlight her nomadic nature (important to the plot) and to still be able to cast an attractive blonde woman in the lead (important to the producers). She’s having some anxiety problems brought on by repressed memories,...

Usually the scariest thing to come from the radio is some numpty blithering on about dodgy politics or unexpectedly hearing the latest track from Miley Cyrus. Now the team behind Dark Signal wants to explore the idea of a ghostly use for the wireless.Dark Signal finds the wandering spirit of a murdered girl who returns to our world with a desperate message. When a stranded woman overhears her cries, she has to team up with the staff of a local radio station to solve the mystery of how the girl died. James Cosmo, Cinzia Monreale, Joanna Ignaczewska, Gareth David-Lloyd, Siwan Morris, Duncan Pow, Sioned Jones and Eleanor Gecks make up the cast.Neill Marshall is acting as executive producer for the project, adding his name and offering guidance to help boost the, er, Signal. But the actual filmmaking will be down to Edward Evers-Swindell, who will direct from a...

There are a couple of little moments in this teaser trailer for director Christopher Butler’s “Scopia” that totally creeped me out, that I didn’t see coming. (Whoa, that dude is totally hanging off the wall, and so not in a cool “The Amazing Spider-Man” way.) If the film itself comes through, then we might have something to keep an eye on here, folks. Check out the teaser trailer for the indie film below and judge for yourself. The filmmakers call it a “Psychological Horror, Science-Fiction, Drama”. What, no comedy, too? I feel gyp. Basia (Joanna Ignaczewska) is an ordinary polish girl who lives and works in London, who, after suffering from mild depression undergoes hypnotic regression with specialist Dr Edward Stanton (Louis Labovitch). No sooner do these somewhat unorthodox treatments start, does Basia begin to experience flashbacks. Her world becomes very strange and eventually spirals into a perpetual...

A teaser trailer has emerged for a supernatural thriller called Scopia. The film takes the chilling elements of a good scary movie and funnels it into a psychological warfare after a hypnotic session goes disturbingly awry. Writer-Director Christopher Butler has thus ambitiously taken the typical, enclosed horror genre to cinematic realms not seen before in British feature films.
Scopia was Produced by Flynn Films, and was Written and Directed by Chris Butler, his first feature film. Christopher has a background in advertising and his debut sees his haunting, shocking style brought to the big screen with a story to match. "Scopia" stars Joanna Ignaczewska and Louis Labovitch and they're joined by Jessica Jay, Akira Koieyama, Mathew Roberts, Genevieve Sibayan, Callum Holbrook and others.
